I had long admired the scrapbook layouts and cards created using a torn notebook edge.  Then I came across the EK Success Paper Shapers Binding Edge Punch and knew that I had to add it to my supply of scrapbooking tools.

Priced at $13.99 at Scrapbook.com, this border punch is very affordable.  It measures approximately 5 ¼ inches long, 3 inches wide and only 1 inch in height.  The slim profile features a patented thumb punch lever for an almost effortless punch.  The bottom side of the EK Success Binding Edge Punch has a button that slides to lock the punch in a closed position, allowing for convenient, stackable storage.

This punch creates a fun, torn notebook edge that can be added to scrapbook layouts, cards and altered items.  For example, I have found that this punch works great on scrapbook pages with themes of kids, school, sports and fall, just to name a few. For added dimension and a distressed look, the punched binding edge can be inked, folded up or wrinkled a bit.

In my projects using the EK Success Paper Shapers Binding Edge Punch, I have found that punching through cardstock and heavier-weight patterned paper works best.  Lighter-weight paper does have a tendency of getting stuck in the punch.  A solution, however, is to place the lighter-weight paper on top of cardstock and then punch through both at the same time.

Here are a few projects that I have recently created using the EK Success Paper Shapers Binding Edge Punch.  I love the results!

Card supplies:

  • kraft cardstock base-The Paper Studio
  • patterned paper-Crate Paper-Season Collection-Summer, Rainbow & Winter
  • pearls-BasicGrey-Designer Half Pearls in blue
  • stickers-October Afternoon-Road Map-Label stickers
  • EK Success Paper Shapers Binding Edge Punch

If you are looking for a fun and easy-to-use border punch that can be used for many different themes and projects, then I definitely recommend the EK Success Paper Shapers Binding Edge Punch.  It has become one of my favorite tools!
