July 2010 Color Combo Challenge

I get really inspired sometimes by looking at the colors in nature. I took this photo a few years ago while hiking in the Pocono Mountains. I just loved the way the green and the yellow popped off the brown, muddy riverbank. I thought this would make a great color combination for a scrapbook page.
Using color palette software, I uploaded my picture and this is the palette I generated.
I asked a few of my fellow scrapbookers to create a project based on this color palette.
Mary Eason created both a card and a layout for this challenge.
In "Rakeheads," I love how the papers match her photo perfectly. The brown border frames the layout and draws your eye directly to her adorable photo.
In "Wishing you sunshine," yellow becomes the star of the show to create a happy feel to the card. I always love Mary's clean lines and embellishment choices, such as the twine on this card.
Rachel Myerson created this layout about her son's Earth Day celebration at his school. She used kraft paper for the brown, which gives it a much softer look. I love how she also added a leaf motif along the side of the page.
Nena Hawkes had a clever take on the challenge. She used various patterned papers in the same colors, but she double-matted the layout, and her collage of photos contains some blue, which allows you to focus on her adorable subject.
Stacy Milford created this gorgeous card. I love how the colors on it match the inspiration photo almost exactly. I also love the embellishments that she used, which give it an earthy feel.
I hope you feel inspired to create something based on this challenge. Don't forget to upload to the gallery so we can all "ooh" and "ahh" over it.
