When I saw that Sizzix and Tim Holtz teamed up to create embossing folders, I knew that a set would find their way to my scrapbook table. I chose to add the Collage & Notebook set to my embossing folder collection because it definitely has a boy scrapbooking vibe, but could also be used for many other themes.
Other embossing folders in the Sizzix Tim Holtz Texture Fades line include:
- Bricked & Woodgrain set
- Branch Tree & Tall Pines set
- Damask & Regal Flourishes set
- Bingo & Patchwork set
- Cattails & Pumpkin Patch set
- Rays & Retro Circles set
- Checkerboard & Cracked set
- Burlap & Swirls set
- Dot-Matrix & Gridlock set
- Halloween Night & Poison set
- December Calendar & Holiday Words set
- Halloween Words & Cobwebs set
- Merry Christmas & Vintage Holiday set
- Postcard & Sheet Music set
- Snow Flurries & Snowman set
This grunge-inspired collection embosses so that various areas of the image appear slightly faded and distressed. Each set of Embossing Folders designed by Tim Holtz contains two large folders, measuring 5 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 1/8”. The large folders also fit the exact dimensions of an A2 card. Texture Fade Embossing Folders are for use with the BIGkick and Big Shot machines and Texture Boutique Machines. I used my Cuttlebug and the embossing folder worked perfectly.

I created a layout using the Collage folder; I embossed cardstock and used it as a layer underneath the photo and other patterned papers. This adds so much texture to the project and I really like the result!

For my card, I used the Notebook folder to emboss cardstock and then just built my card from there: a strip of patterned paper, a journal spot, a stamp and a button and the card was done – easy, quick and simple!

If you want to take your project to the next level using embossing folders, then pull out your sandpaper, inks and other distressing tools. For tons of amazing inspiration, visit the Tim Holtz blog – prepare to be blown away!
