Stamping combined with paper piecing is a technique that I love to use on my cards and layouts. It is so easy and gives a whole new look to your stamped images. A lot of stamps are designed to be colored in with ink, markers or watercolors after stamped. These images are also perfect to use when stamping on patterned paper.
You will need several sheets of coordinating patterned paper, ink, a stamp and scissors.
Your first step is to stamp your image several times on different patterned papers. Using multiple papers and stamped images will give you more detail. Picking papers that consist of different colors and patterns will give your finished image the most interest and depth.
After stamping, cut out each image. To create a layered effect, cut each image’s layers separately. Adhere the layers on top of each other, alternating colors and patterns.
The above picture shows some of the layering effects that you can achieve by stacking different colors and patterns of paper.
The final project is an array of beautiful stamped flowers with a very different look than when colored in with markers or watercolor pencils.
