Scrapbook.com Custom Kits
Did you know that Scrapbook.com offers monthly kits created from the wide selection of products available in their Superstore? There is a new kit available each month which contains a coordinated assortment of recent products chosen especially for the current season.
Each kit contains 8 to 10 sheets of patterned paper, 4 or 5 sheets of coordinated cardstock, some type of alphabet, and embellishments. The embellishments vary each month but often include buttons, flowers, and stamps. The other embellishments change from month to month and have included items such as die-cut pieces, gift bags, journaling cards, and jewels. Items are always chosen that work well together. For example, if the kit contains mist then it will also contain something to use the mist on such as a mask or mist-able flowers.
Although each kit is created for the month it is released, the kits are designed to appeal to a wide audience. The kits are designed with colors and products that work for different genders and people in different stages of life. In a few cases, there have been kits focused on specific holidays such as Thanksgiving or Halloween. For these months, two kits were offered, one for the specific holiday and a more versatile kit.
The Scrapbook.com Custom kits are created by Dedra Long. I asked Dedra what inspires her to choose products for the kits and she told me:
“There are a couple of ways I'm motivated when choosing products for the kit club. With the position I have at Scrapbook.com, I literally touch every single product that comes into the building. As collections and product start coming in I have a special box that sits next to me at my desk. When I'm going through products and see something I like or love, I set it aside in that box. Another way I get inspiration and motivation is when we attend CHA. Seeing all of the new collections, trends, and embellishments is like being a kid in a candy store. One of the things I do is collect catalogs and carry a notebook with me to write down products and collections that I love but might forget about later.”
The kits are very flexible for scrapping a wide variety of subjects. Here are some layouts I created using the Spring Fling kit which was released in the April 2013. As you can see, I was able to scrap sports, nature, and a family celebration all with the same kit.
Unlike some kit clubs, the Scrapbook.com Kit Club does not require any type of ongoing obligation. By joining the club, you receive an email notification when a new kit is available and a coupon. You can sign up for these emails coupons here. Scrapbook.com also offers challenges created specifically for each kit to provide additional inspiration for using the kit. The challenges can be found in the challenges section of the forum and offer generous prizes.
