Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock is known for heavyweight sandable cardstock. Most Core’dinations cardstock is textured on the front and smooth on the back, although its most distinguishing feature is that rather than having a white core, Core’dinations cardstock has a core which coordinates with the color on the front.
Cord’dinations ColorCore Cardstock was founded by Anthony Grinnell in 2007. With his extensive background in the paper-crafting industry, Anthony was the right person to create innovations in cardstock. Embossing folders and distressing techniques were gaining popularity in the scrapbook industry and Anthony thought the industry was ready for sandable cardstock with a solid-dyed core.
After coming up with the concept, Anthony needed to find financial backing. Once he got that backing, he spent four months overseas getting started. He designed the initial product-line and set up the manufacturing process and facilities. Core’dinations Cardstock was first introduced to the United States at the CHA Winter 2008 show and was very well received. Anthony stated, “The most enjoyable moments of that trade show were the looks of shock and surprise when crafters tried the cardstock for the first time. They walked into the booth skeptical, thinking this was just another cardstock, and left with smiles on their faces.” Over the years, Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock continues to introduce new products at CHA.
The new cardstock grew quickly in popularity. As they grew their retailer base, they were noticed by Darice, Inc, a large, well-known wholesaler in the craft industry based in Strongsville, Ohio.
Anthony entered into a successful partnership with Darice in 2010. Anthony feels that is the best business decision he’s made, stating, “I couldn’t ask for a more honest, professional, and harder working group than what I’ve found in Darice.” Since that time, Core’dinations has grown from a company selling one size of sandable cardstock to an international success with a wide range of products. They now offer over 1200 products including many styles of specialty cardstock in a range of sizes plus patterned paper, cards and envelopes, embellishments and more.
While Core’dinations cardstock is beautiful by itself, it is really designed for the crafter to be able to use with techniques such as sanding to expose the coordinating core. In addition to sanding, Core’dinations cardstock is perfect for tearing, embossing, debossing, labeling, antiquing, scoring, corrugating, outlining, and edge-distressing. To help crafters master these techniques, Core’dinations provides a website with tutorial videos.
Some of the most popular Core’dinations cardstock products are the Black Magic, Chocolate Box, and White Wash collections. These collections feature black, brown, or white cardstock (respectively) with a bright- or pastel-colored core that can be revealed through sanding or other techniques. A similar product is the Kraft Core collection which features richly colored cardstock with a Kraft-colored core that can be revealed. The Kraft Core cardstock is also available in a unique shattered pattern.
While most of their cardstock is meant to be altered and distressed, Core’dinations also offers Glitter Silk cardstock which was the first glitter paper in which glitter didn’t fall off and Core Couture, a glitter paper on solid-dyed cardstock.
Core’dinations has partnered with many well-known companies and designers in the scrapbook industry producing licensed products from designers such as David Tutera, Tim Holtz, and Dena Designs, to name a few. They also produce cardstock to coordinate with patterned paper from a number of popular brands, such as the Graphic 45 Signature Series, and pre-embossed cardstock that coordinates with patterned paper collections from popular manufactures such as Pink Paislee.
For 2014, Core’dinations continues to bring new innovations in cardstock including Chalk Core available in white or colors such as red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. The Chalk Core has a smooth texture with colored core, perfect for embossing and sanding especially for those who like the trendy chalkboard look.
They are also introducing Core Basics, a quality heavyweight cardstock available in smooth and textured white, black, and kraft, as well as Ink-Jet Friendly Vellum cardstock, a perfect vellum for running through your printer to print journaling, invitations, and more. All of these new products are available in a variety of sizes. Finally, for stampers and multi-media artists, they are introducing a new heavy-duty 110 lb white cardstock.
