After my dad died in 2003, my mother continued to live in the house where they'd spent almost all of their married life--a two-story (three, if you count the basement) three-bedroom brick house. In 2007, my cousins and I managed to persuade her to move into an apartment. I know she loves it there--she makes a point of telling me every time I visit her (every other week or every two weeks)--but I also know that she misses the house. I miss it too, even though I didn't actually live there after 1976. I've been thinking of putting together a "House" album for her, and I've just started organizing what I'll need. I'd planned to give it to her for Hannukkah (weekend of Dec 12). but after browsing the site and seeing some of the examples of the beautiful work that other people have done, I suspect that's not realistic. I need to read up on the basics--find out about tools and techniques and adhesives. Maybe for her birthday, which will be in March.
