OCD...and organizational chart solution!

For as long as I can remember I have found 'comfort' in having things organized...and even more comfort in going through the process of actually doing the organization!  (give me a big bag of assorted buttons and I am happy as a clam!)  Trouble has been that lately especially, I am not 'happy' bc I am so distracted by the mess in my home.  Now I know it is not really dirty or anything, but I try to do something for myself like scrapbook and I get sidetracked putting in a load of laundry etc.  Basically, I have been feeling guilty that 'something' is not done so why should I be relaxing and doing 'fun' stuff?

I came up with a solution, that I think will really work for me!  (and I think I will be able to stick to it!)  As silly as it sounds I made myself an organizational chart...like ones I used to do for the kids when they were smaller!  Since I am out of work right now on disability I had to address the issues of not being able to do a lot at one time...so I broke the house down into 7 areas- one for each day of the week.

Kitchen, living room and dining area, bathrooms, "walmart" (aka the scrapbooking/craft room,) guest room, master bedroom and finally the yard and garbage.  I then took a plastic page protector and stiched along it to create a bunch of pockets that I can slide strips of paper into.  In addition to the 7 mentioned, I also have ones that will vary according to need, clean car, clean fish tank, laundry, change bedding, clean fridge, clean oven etc.  I also made some for things I know I have to do- standard Dr. appts. and donating plasma are the big ones bc I do those every week on set days.

Then I simply slid the 7 biggies in place so they made sense, garbage day is monday now so Sunday is the day to do a bit of yard work and take out the garbage for example.  I also was careful to put items in place on the days that I donate plasma that are not as physical since I am usually out of the house for several hours and tired when I get home.

Then I simply selected a couple things to add to each day...the end result?  I know have permission to relax when my stuff is done!!!  Of course it will have to be tweaked...and life happens so I will have to handle issues as they arise but know when I go sit down to scrapbook I can know my work is done for the day and relax  and have true ME time!

I am so excited!  I knwo exactly what I have to get done today...and therefore I know exactly when I will be done!
