It's our 7th year in business. We can hardly believe it ourselves. For our seventh year, we decided to have some fun by launching a new, big contest!
But before we get into the details, we want you to know that at Scrapbook.com we like to have fun, and we like our neighbors to have a good time. Pushing ourselves to be the "best" scrapbookers we can be is a lot of fun. We like to think of ways for people to have reasons to spend more time honing their scrapbooking craft, increasing the number of paper-craft memories they create, and improving the quality and durability of those creations. It's fun for us to have incentives to dig deep and bring out the best in our creative potential.
To that end, we're launching a new contest. We hope that it's more than just a contest. We hope that it's an "excuse" for you to push yourself to be your best. That way, whether or not you're one of the 77 people who will receive a prize, you'll feel like you've "won."
The Scrapbook.com Lucky 7 Layout Contest is an online layout contest that's a little different from those we've run before. It seeks to identify scrapbook layouts that not only exhibit extraordinary creative and aesthetic appeal, but which also emphasize the fact that scrapbooking isn't just about creativity and art - it's primarily about storytelling and capturing the essence of what it is to be human.
From the layouts submitted to the contest, there will be 7 winning layouts selected, and 70 honorable mention layouts selected, for a total of 77 prize winners. Winning layouts will receive $700 shopping sprees to the Scrapbook.com Superstore. Honorable mention layouts will receive $70 shopping sprees to the Scrapbook.com Superstore. But, regardless of whether or not you win a "prize," if you've pushed yourself to be a little better, to tap your potential just a little more, you've won.
If you're thinking to yourself right now, "I'll never win, why try?" Please enter anyway! There will be 70 honorable mention prizes and, in any case, it will be fun! You have nothing to lose!
Plus, if you were ever disqualified for a rules violation in a previous Scrapbook.com contest, you're normally not allowed to enter subsequent contests. However, this one is different. Since this is our seventh year, and this contest is all about sevens, we've decided to make this Scrapbook.com's "Jubilee" contest. We love the concept of the Jubilee, but not wanting to wait for the 7th seven-year cycle (i.e. 49 years, hey, we'll all be retired by then, hopefully), we're advancing things a bit. We're inviting anyone who was previously disqualified to enter the Lucky 7 contest.

In order to enter the contest, you will need a Scrapbook.com username. If you do not already have a username and password, sign up for a free membership to Scrapbook.com by clicking here. This membership will allow you to upload layouts to the contest and to participate in other areas at Scrapbook.com.

Upload up to seven (7) scanned images or digital photos of your best layouts. Seven is the maximum. One is the minimum. Any number in between is OK, too. Zero layouts uploaded will result in no consideration. More than seven will result in disqualification.
Check out all the other layouts in the gallery (about 1,000 new ones per day go up),get inspired, and make some friends while you're at it!
Contest Criteria
Seven layouts will be selected as winning layouts. One winner will be selected for each of the seven criteria. You do not need to specify which one (or more) of the seven criteria your layout expresses. Our contest committee will figure it out. If your layout satisfies two criteria, that's fine, too. You don't need to specify that it does, however. The Contest Committee will be picking one layout for each of the following seven criteria.
Heartwarming - a layout that has a "feel good" theme and presentation, one that just makes you say "awww" after viewing it, and makes you feel good inside.
Clean and Simple - a layout that really embodies the principle of "less is more."
Story Telling - a layout that communicates on many levels and tells a story.
Use of Multiple Photos - a layout that uses three or more photos in a creative way.
Innovativeness - a layout that pushes the boundaries of techniques and/or themes.
Use of Color - a layout that blends, melds, mixes, or juxtaposes color in a way that makes you say "ooooh, cool!"
Funny/Humorous - a layout that makes people laugh out loud.
You'll notice that several of these categories are also voting categories in the gallery that allow other users to vote for layouts in various categories, some of which parallel contest criteria. The Contest Committee will not judge based on how many votes a layout gets. This isn't a popularity contest and there's no reward for campaigning. Winners will only win one award, i.e. in one criteria category only, and winners will not have layouts selected as honorable mentions.
We encourage you to make sure you provide a quality scan (we suggest from 600x600 pixels per inch to 1000x1000 pixels per inch in size, 72 dpi, and .jpg format) or digital photograph of your layout. Layouts should be placed in the appropriate upload categories (including the Lucky 7 Contest category). For example, if your layout contains three photographs, in addition to being put into the Lucky 7 Contest category, it should also be put into the "Number of Photos - 3" category. All of this is done from the same, simple layout-uploader tool in a matter of seconds.
3. Each layout will be judged individually on its own merit, not as a collection. The seven (7) layouts deemed to have best exemplified one of the seven (7) groups of Contest Criteria will be selected as winning layouts. In other words, one winner will be selected for each of the seven criteria. Entrants do not need to specify which one (or more) of the seven criteria their layout(s) expresses.

4. The seven (7) contestants that have submitted the layouts judged to be most fitting for the judgment criteria, as determined by the Scrapbook.com Contest Committee, will be declared winners; 70 others will receive Honorable Mention status.
5. Winners will be announced August 31, 2007 on the Scrapbook.com website.
6. Winners must be Scrapbook.com Members in good standing, i.e. not banned from Scrapbook.com Neighborhood Forums either before or during the contest, including the judging and notification period.
7. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age to enter.
8. Awards:
a. Each of the 7 Winners will receive $700 in Scrapbook.com Superstore Gift Certificates to be used in a shopping spree. b. Each of the 70 Honorable Mentions will receive $70 in Scrapbook.com Superstore Gift Certificates to be used in a shopping spree.
9. Winners from the previous $15,000 (2005) and $20,000 (2006) contests are not eligible to enter. Honorable Mentions from those contests are eligible.
10. The Promotion is subject to all applicable laws, void where prohibited by law and is limited to residents of the United States and Canada (with restrictions: see "TERRITORY" below for more information).

DESCRIPTION OF CONTEST Scrapbook.com ("SB.C") LUCKY 7 CONTEST (hereafter "Contest") will award $700 gift certificates to seven contest entrants whose layouts are judged to be the most creative and aesthetically pleasing by the Scrapbook.com Contest Committee. Scrapbook.com ("SB.C") will also award seventy $70 gift certificates to seventy honorable mention entrants. The winners and honorable mentions will be selected from all eligible entries received during the promotional period.
Entries must be uploaded to the Lucky 7 Contest Section of the SB.C Layout Gallery and must be submitted in compliance with all procedures explained in these rules.
Following notification of winning status, all contest winners and honorable mentions must sign declarations of authenticity and assign all publication rights for the designs and photos contained in the layouts.
PROMOTION PERIOD The Promotional Period begins May 3, 2007, 12:00:01 AM EST and ends July 7, 2007, 11:59:59 PM EST (the "Promotion Period"). All entries must be uploaded to the Lucky 7 Contest Gallery at the SB.C Layout Gallery during the Promotional Period. Layouts uploaded to the Contest Gallery at any time prior to or following the Promotion Period will not be considered for entry.
The seven winners will be selected by the SB.C Contest Committee by August 10, 2007 from those entrants and entries satisfying all submission criteria below. The winners will be announced on the SB.C website on August 31, 2007.
SUBMISSIONS Each contestant will submit one or more scrapbooking layouts to the LUCKY 7 CONTEST area of the Scrapbook.com Layout Gallery by uploading a scanned image (or high-quality photograph) of the layout:
a. Each layout must be an original work.
b. Each layout may not be displayed or submitted to any other layout gallery, contest, or publication before or during the contest period, or after it has ended if it is selected as a Winner or Honorable Mention.

TERRITORY The Promotion is subject to all applicable laws, void where prohibited by law and is limited to United States and Canadian Residents. This contest is not open to residents of Quebec.
ELIGIBILITY NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO WIN.
Subject to the other requirements stated elsewhere in these Official Rules, entrants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. To be eligible to win, SB.C must receive entries in the format designated below. Employees of SB.C (and its related websites), its parents, subsidiaries, suppliers, contributors, design team members, manufacturers, or their immediate families are not eligible. Design team members for Scrapbook.com Suppliers may enter the contest if they are not deemed employees under the law by the companies for whom they design (i.e. they are deemed "independent contractors" by law). By entering, entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of SB.C, which are final and binding. By making a submission, entrant certifies that entrant either has or can obtain written consents from persons appearing in photos contained in the entrant's layouts that permit SB.C to utilize such photos in SB.C publications.
By entering the Contest, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless SB.C, their legal representatives, their affiliates, subsidiaries, suppliers, sponsors, agencies and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from any damages which may arise out of participation in the Contest, or out of the acceptance, use, misuse or possession of contest prizes. By participating, each entrant agrees to these Official Contest Rules and to the decisions of the SB.C Contest Committee, which are final and binding in all respects.
Contestants must be and remain a member of the SB.C Neighborhood (layout gallery and forums, etc.) in good standing. If a contestant has been banned from the SB.C Neighborhood Bulletin Boards (Forums and Galleries) for any reason either before or during the contest, or prior to the award of prizes, that contestant will be disqualified from consideration.
Current and former employees of Scrapbook.com are not eligible to enter.
Winners of Scrapbook.com's 2005 $15,000 Scrapbook.com contest, 2006 $20,000 contest, are not eligible to enter the Lucky 7 Contest. People previously disqualified from any other Scrapbook.com contest are eligible to enter this contest.
DISQUALIFICATION SB.C may prohibit entrants from participating in the Promotion and disqualify entries if they do not follow the rules of the contest or if they attempt to enter the Promotion through means not described in the rules, attempt to disrupt the contest or circumvent the rules, or act in an un-sportsmanlike manner or with an intent to annoy or harass any other entrant, affiliated parties or employees of SB.C.
HOW TO ENTER (NO MAIL-IN ENTRIES) All entries must be uploaded to the SB.C Lucky 7 Contest Layout Gallery during the Promotional Period. No mail-in entries will be considered. For instructions on how to upload your layouts to Scrapbook.com, please click here.
Each entrant must upload a minimum of one eligible scrapbooking layout to the aforementioned section of the SB.C Layout Gallery. The submission of more than seven entries will automatically disqualify an entrant. Each layout will be judged on its own merit. Contest Winners will be judged to be those who have submitted the strongest individual layout, without taking into account other layouts the entrant may have submitted.
All winning and honorable mention entries become the property of SB.C.
In the unlikely event that SB.C encounters technical or equipment failures such as telephone network lines failing, computer online systems failing, servers and/or provider services go down, or human error in connection with the promotion etc., SB.C and promoters will not be held responsible. RELEASE OF LIABILITY / LIMITATION OF LIABILITY By entering the contest, each entrant further agrees that, in the event there is any conflict or other inconsistency between the Official Contest Rules and any advertisements, promotional or marketing materials, e-mails, or announcements relevant to this Promotion, these Official Contest Rules will govern.
PRIZE Each of the seven (7) winners receives a $700 gift certificate to the Scrapbook.com Superstore. Each of the seventy (70) honorable mentions receives a $70 gift certificate to the Scrapbook.com Superstore.
WINNER NOTIFICATION, PRIZE CLAIM AND PRIZE DELIVERY Winners and Honorable Mentions will be notified via email on or before August 10, 2007, with the notification email to be sent to the email address associated with their Scrapbook.com user account. Each Winner and Honorable must respond to the email notification by August 20, 2007. If there is no response to the notification email by August 20, 2007, prize is forfeited and will be awarded to another entrant. SB.C will not be responsible for failure of notices due to the failure of winner to receive the notification regardless of the reason, including but not limited to spam blocking programs, ISP failures, and other Internet problems.
SB.C will send to Winners and Honorable Mentions documentation that must be completed prior to announcing prize winners. Winners will be required to execute and return signed documentation by August 28, 2007 via certified mail to SB.C, 116 N. Lindsay Rd. Suite #3, Mesa, AZ 85213. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification. Winners will be required to provide picture proof of identification, which may include a driver's license, passport, a voting card or similar government issued identification. Return of any prize / prize notification via email as undeliverable may result in disqualification. SB.C will email gift certificates within 30 days of receipt of certified letters with the required documentation enclosed to the email address provided by the entrant.
Unclaimed prizes may be awarded to others.
RIGHTS OF SB.C SB.C reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel, or suspend Contest should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of SB.C interfere in the administration, security or proper participation in Contest. Entrants entering through the Web must provide a valid e-mail address. SB.C is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in Contest.
BUSINESS TRANSFER In the event that a third party acquires SB.C or substantially all of its assets, contestant information and content will be one of the transferred assets. This agreement shall be valid and binding between entrant and any third party to whom rights may be transferred.
ODDS OF WINNING The total number of entries received during the Promotion Period determines the odds of winning. TAX INFORMATION Payment of all taxes and fees on prizes won are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winners must check with their own tax counsel to ascertain whether a prize will generate taxable income, and, if so, the amount. NO SUBSTITUTION OF PRIZES No substitution or transfer of prizes will be accommodated or permitted, other than at SB.C's sole discretion.
PUBLICATION Acceptance of any prize constitutes permission for SB.C, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies to use winner's name, likenesses, and submitted layouts for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Each winner further grants to SB.C the right to use and publish his or her identity and home city and home state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with this and other Promotions.
EMAIL INFORMATION By entering this contest entrant gives entrant's consent and permission for SB.C to send entrant email updates and information about SB.C, its advertisers, and its services, including marketing emails, which entrant may opt-out of at any time.
VENUE AND DISPUTES All Entrants agree that any and all claims, disputes and causes of action arising out of or related to the Promotion shall be resolved, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively by the appropriate courts in Maricopa County, Arizona in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona, without giving effect to conflict of law rules which would cause the application of the laws of any other jurisdiction.
LEGAL WARNING Any attempt by any individual, whether or not a contestant, to damage, destroy, tamper with or vandalize this website, or otherwise interfere with the operation of this Promotion, is a violation of criminal and civil law and SB.C will diligently pursue all remedies in this regard against any offending individual or entity to the fullest extent permissible by law.
FORCE MAJEURE SB.C reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Promotion should any causes beyond the control of the SB.C or Promoters, corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper operation of the Promotion. All decisions are final.

Such a shame that those of us who use the site and do NOT currently live in USA can not participate in this comp. I appreciate the TAX thing ( even though we are still liable pay US taxes living abroad! ) bu it's the KUDOS that comes with these competitions that we miss out on. Anyhow sounds like a fabulous opportunity for the rest of you and I will be watching eagerly and whooping you on from the sidelines.

Oh dear. I have read the rules very clearly and the FAQ's page and am afraid to say that I see layouts submited for this contest on other forums and websites. Please everyone, READ THE RULES! You cant do that! Give yourself the best chance, otherwise, you are giving ME a better chance LOL, except that I live in Australia :( .

Hey I uploaded two layouts for the contest, both for Halloween but they are two totally different layouts but two pages for the same event. Does that count as one or two?
I uploaded my pictures to the category of the lucky 7 contest, but I don't see it in the gallery. I'm not sure I know what I did wrong, can someone please help?
