Finished painting new studio room!   (1 comment, 177 views) Monday, 08 January 2007
Well, ALMOST finished!  I've still got to spackle and paint the inside of the closet.  After I took out the wire shelf, it left pretty nasty holes in the wall.  Plus I have to take the sliding closet doors off their track and stash them someplace in the basement.  I'm too wiped right now for another trip to Home Depot or to lug doors down two flights of stairs, so I'm just calling it a night.

I hate painting ceilings.  HATE IT.  H-A-T-E  I-T.  The room is probably about 10'x12' and it took just a bit more than a gallon of paint and 2 coats to look decent.  I always debate actually painting the ceiling, but the junky job the builders did spray-painting low quality paint on the walls had no choice but to be redone.  Saturday I put the first coat on the celing, followed on Sunday by coat #2 and the primer on the walls.  Today (Monday) I finished up the wall paint while my daughter was at school.  Most of the furniture that was in the room is pushed back where it belongs, but there is still an entire hallway of displaced items that need to find new homes (hopefully the trash bin as well!)

After all the paint samples and debating on colors, I just wound up having the color matched from the colors I used in my bedroom - lavendar & sage green.  Walls are lavendar, and the closet will be sage green.  I figured since the doors are coming off, I had better make it look pretty in there too!

With any luck the room will be in decent shape just in time for me to leave Friday afternoon for my weekend cropping retreat!  I still have to plan and pack all the projects and supplies I want to bring, and can't leave it to the morning I leave (like usual).  My hope is to finish the studio room up and keep that motovation going as I bring up craft supplies - so I can pack for the trip and organize my room at the same time.

Right now I need a hot bath though!!  (And a glass of wine never hurt either!)

Wow. Sounds like you're making lots of progress in there. Don't you just love admiring your work when it's finished?
