"Natural" Parenting.   (3 comments, 24 views) Sunday, 27 January 2008

I never thought of myself as a "natural" parent until I had a baby.  I never made a conscious decision to practice attachment parenting...I just do what feels right and then one day I realized here I am being "crunchy" (term used on another site).

We just started using cloth diapers.  If someone had told me a year ago that I would be using cloth diapers I would have said, "You're crazy!" lol.  But it is so much better for the environment, not to mention our budget.  I got a few dipes given to me and I've made quite a few out of fleece, so it has been cheap.  It is definitely not as much work as I ever thought it would be.

More and more I am feeling like I need to make better choices for the environment and more responsible choices with how we spend our money and things.  I'm trying more to buy second-hand things.  It is a *small* step to not buy new things.  It's just one less thing that has to be produced.  Before I never did b/c even though we're on a budget we can still afford to buy new things and not all second-hand things.  But, it's not about what we can do, but what we should do.  I've come to think it is more responsible to do this.

Anyway, this has been a blog about "anything" for the January AGC...it's the first stuff that came to my mind :)

I used cloth diapers for my first two girls! It was hubby who didn't want to mess with them for the third. I always thought it was so much cheaper and now, with a Grandchild on the way, I'm amazed at the price of disposables!!!! Sears always had the best rubber pants that seemed to last forever. Besides, sitting down to fold diapers always gave me an excuse to sit for a moment. Good for you!

Good for you for using cloth diapers! I tried it with my first, but it didn't last very long. Just didn't have the time for it. The cost of disposables was outrageous when mine were babies, so I can just imagine how high they are now. We literally had a party when Tina was out of PullUps for good because we knew we'd have alot more extra cash from then on!

I loved using cloth diapers! I loved seeing the "big diaper butts" under my girls sleepers...Oh, I miss those days (sniff)!
