VCW #50 Scrapping to Stay Warm   (20 comments, 139 views) Friday, 15 February 2008

Please leave comments with highlights of the week for those that can't be online as much as they would like to. Makes it easier to "catch up"!

I'm really dragging. Been feeling like this all week. Hope to caffeine myself up.

I've spent the morning accomplishing chores, pages and playing with the squirrels.

Well, no crop for me. All 5 of us got the WORST intestinal bug ever. On the plus side the domestic squabble was completely obliterated by the team effort required to hold two urking babies while urking ourselves. Maybe going to crop tomorrow, but I'm not optimistic.

Here's my daily update:
7:20am: ripped from my sleep by a text message. Ignore text, roll over, and go back to sleep.
8:30am: texter decided that since I didn't respond to the text, maybe she better CALL me...chew texter out, set alarm to go off at 9am.
9:00am: drag weary heinie outta bed, and begin to search through all the clean laundry for a weekend's worth of Lizzie-wear so I can send her to spend the weekend with my parents
10:30am: Mom arrives, whiskes Lizzie away for a weekend of fun
10:30-11:00am: browse online, reading posts here and there
11:00am-11:30am: enjoy a nice, steamy-hot shower all alone
11:30-12:00: begin responding to posts around here
12:00pm: make myself a couple of egg, cheese, and tomato bagel sandwiches for breakfast and preheat the oven so I can finish baking Jory's pizza I started last night
12:15-1:00: Lunch for Jory, breakfast for me
1:00-2:00: housework
2:00-5:00: shop-it
5:00-7:00: bounce back-and-forth between Lappy and kitchen as I attempt to keep up here and prepare dinner
7:00-8:00pm: Dinner
8:00pm-8:10pm: Dessert
8:10pm-now: start "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah and write this little update for the blog.

Got the treadmill built, I'm really excited. Have to read 30 some pages and answer 12 questions by Sunday for my one class, have a 2 hour test to take by Sunday for the same class, and a paper due on the 24 for the same class. It's going to be a busy weekend.

I guess I could recap my last 24 hours. Moved all the stuff off my desk and file drawers. Moved the desk and file drawers away from the wall, ended up unhooking all the computer stuff. Got the wall primed. Ended up sitting on the bed with dh and watching "The Wedding Planner". Went to bed. Woke up very early this morning. Started painting the wall while dh was out for his run. Took the puppy to the vet for his shots and check up. Came home and finished the wall and the trim. Moved the desk back and started putting it back together. Got my computer cables all untangled and the wireless stuff all hooked back up while dh primed another wall in the hallway.

Went to my niece's basketball game. dh took me to Kohl's shopping for new bathing suits for our trip. Went to Home Depot for more paint. Came home and had dinner, and older dd has decided to come over for the night, and has Project Runway on TV.

I am supposed to be finishing the hallway or putting my computer back together. I should be at the store buying food for ds's birthday tomorrow. I should be cleaning house. I'm tired and I don't wanna!!!

Jenni has had a good bday weekend so far. Friday the baby stayed with a friend from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., came home, ate a bit and went to bed. He didn't finally get up until 11 a.m. Saturday. :) Jenni was taken to Cheeseburger in Paradise on Friday for an early bday dinner.

Saturday she received many well wishes from her cyber-friends. (THANK YOU!) A few phone calls from family and friends in town. And then she took DD and DGS and they went to a choosing/fitting for bridesmaids' dresses for Aunt Heather's wedding in a few months. It was a long afternoon, but not bad. On the way home, we picked up a friend that DD works with, and now that DGS is in bed, DD & friend are at another friend's party for the evening/night.

Tomorrow afternoon DH is kicking her out to go see a movie. :)

I decorated the church for the Valentine's dinner tonight. Had a good time but really wanted to be home. I pulled my back washing some dished in those ridiculous laundry sinks!

Ria posted about a Weakest Link episode with the cast of Doctor Who. I watched it and learned that Billie Piper sang a song called "Because we want to!" I've decided that that song is now my theme song or personal anthem.

I posted a blog here about it with lyrics and link to vid. Because I wanted to! lol

Monica's entire family (almost) is sick. Somehow, she got the worst of it. But at least there is a 3 day weekend to recover! Oldest dd is the only one who has escaped having anything, yet. She is calling everyone else whiners. (Aren't 16 year olds GREAT?) I told her when she gets it, I will NOT make her soup.

Cathy has been sick and has missed everyone here!

Sunday, the 17th: I didn't make it to church again this morning. Stayed in bed until 11. Still feel zonked.

Did get a good Asian salad made with sliced napa cabbage, celery, peas, shrimp, and Sh|taki mushrooms with Ramen noodles and seasonings. My guys really loved it. So do I.

I did get half a mile done on my elliptical (20 minutes) and about 10 minutes on my Big Red (twisty seat thingie). Then I zonked out some more.

Monday, the 18th. Slept in late again after going to bed at 2 this morning. Didn't get much accomplished today. Did get 6 layouts done. Glitter glued and/or Stickled every page as any good Bling Fairy should

Played Billie Piper's "Because we want to" more times than should be normal for a 43 yo grandmother.

Ria has done her taxes for the second time this year. (TurboTax wanted to charge $90 to prepare and e-file federal and state...TaxCut did the same thing for $45.) Unfortunately, the amount of the refund is still the same. *sigh* Oh, well, it still means she gets a new Cricut Expression and a couple of carts.

Loves the way Bling Vairy Vivian "glitter glued and/or Stickled every page as any good Bling Fairy should." Remembers to glitter glue and/or Stickle more pages as any good Bling Princess should.

Wishes that Cathy, Monica, Florrie, and anybody else who's sick is feeling better soon. Prescribes a purchase of two bottles of Stickles. (Yes, and then email me in the morning. LOL)

Is too tired and slap-happy to do a minute-by-minute rundown of the day.

Tuesday, took son to doctor's to have a severe ingrown toe nail removed. It was the worst one the PA had ever seen. It was very gross. Brought it back for dh to share in the memory, too. We're thoughtful that way.

After getting lunch (an hour wait for prescriptions to be filled), took son back home. I was feeling ill and went to bed and many trips to the bathroom. Drug myself out at 5 to get shopping done.

Will be making Ranch Chicken, Broccoli with cheese and corn for tomorrow's dinner at church. Won't be on much if at all tomorrow.

Thursday, I have a crop to go to. Hope to get alot done then.

Today I found out that my Baby Economist layout won the "Captain's Choice Award" for the week on the World Scrapping Tour website. Woo hoo!
19-Feb-2008 @ 10:38:03pm

Ranch chicken was a huge success but not as much as the simple warmed up previously frozen broccoli served with canned cheddar cheese sauce. Why do I work so hard to wow these people? Someone please tell me. lol

Went to a crop. Got 6 pages started. Gonna leave my stuff in the car for the crop on Sunday. :D

Went to the ACS Cancer Walk even though we're all sick. The event was somewhat poorly organized, but it was a very meaningful one and many many people turned out for it! We saw elderlies, young kids, parents with strollers, cancer survivors, survivors and families of cancer patients .... all trying to make a little bit of a difference.... It was quite a scene.. esp watching parents pushing double strollers up the 5 mile walk....

With the help of my friends, we raised $545.00. Our whole team (my company) raised $11,562.50 .. we have about 110 people registered for the walk... In Phoenix, the event raised $428,398.66.

I'm glad to find out that Jenni's aunt started the Climb to Conquer Cancer event in her region! That is just awesome!
