My niece has to stay in hospital for 48 more hours and as long as she does not leak anymore, she will go home, but be on complete bedrest the next 12 weeks. Yikes, poor sister. :lol:

UPDATE: YAY, JOB!!!!!

My Grandmother might have kidney cancer. They'll be doing more test this week to find out for sure.

Please keep my spinal tap procedure (in 2 weeks) in your prayers.

DD needs a job and a place to live. Both within parameters of time and distance that still allow her dad and me to help with DGS. She applied for a couple jobs last night at the hospital. She & her friend/future roomie are going to look at places Friday.

Update: Grandma will be in the hospital all week and they are saying it may not be her kidneys instead may be her liver. We'll hopefully know more by the end of the week.

Also found out a great aunt (My grandma's sister) died late Sunday/ early Monday.

Update: My friend Kelly had her oncology consult today. They are giving her an oral pill....no port....won't lose her hair on this one. They are also radiating her back. If the pill doesn't work, or stops working, they go on to something else. They give her between 1-3 years. She is happy.

DD has a lead on a job with a nanny agency. The tip came from a girl she currently works with - both are single moms. Money would be goooood. She could take DGS to work with her, so no time away from him. Prayers would be appreciated.

Update: Grandma is out of the hospital (didn't call my mom for that either and my mom only found out because she went down to the hospital to see her). When mom tries to call a man answers the phone and says that they have the wrong number so we have no idea what's going on. My sister was going to drive down there on Sunday but I don't know if she did or not. It seems like the family is avoiding us for some reason.

For my friend Chuck and his family. He has terminal melanoma that has spread to his brain. Prayers for Chuck, his wife Becky and their two kids.

Update: My grandmother is avoiding my mom (we believe to actually be from my aunt who is trying to keep her from her family) we know nothing new. My sister did go down to visit her and didn't really find out anything else either but my grandmother still hasn't called my mom and when my mom calls someone tells her they have the wrong number (funny how the number worked before grandma went into the hospital).

Spinal tap went well, the after effects lingered almost for a whole week. Still get headaches from bending down, or shaking head real hard (why would I do that?), or from sitting up toooooo long or when I see property tax bill...

I found out about a possible job that sounds like a God send today.

I am looking at going into occupational therapy. I asked my mom to talk to her friend that is an OT and find out if she is going to be working in the clinic at all this summer. Her friend works at her school and then at a clinic in the evenings some for extra money. With still not having a job, I thought I could at least shadow her if she is working some. The app for grad school requires 20 hours of shadowing an OT and a reference from an OT.

When my mom mentioned that to her, she told my mom about another position they have at the clinic. It involves essentially crafts for therapy. It sounds like they don't require a degree for it and they pay less than an actual therapist, but they do pay ok. With all my craft experience, my degree in psychology and recreation (plus specific recreation therapy classes), and experience working in a special ed class... I hopefully would be an ideal canidate.

It sounds great to me on many levels too. It has a flexible schedule so I could still work on my masters, it would be around OT's so that looks good for my application to grad school, it would also provide me with connections to a place that hires OTs, AND...I would be working with CRAFTS!

Right now it sounds too good to be true. I am trying to not get my hopes up and I have to find out more, but .... *happy sigh* it sounds...wonderful

update: Grandma goes in for a kidney biopsy on Friday

update:we now know more about grandma. She does have kidney cancer, 1 the size of a tangerine and a few smaller one. I guess they're talking surgery. My mom is going to go visit her tomorrow and so we'll know more after that.

My friend Sara with cancer. She is in the hospital, in an UNOS unit, and her doctors don't expect her to make it.

I don't know if any of you get the Oxygen channel, but Sara was on a few months ago, on an episode about catching criminals. You see, she was horribly raped in her own car in a parking lot of a store and lived to tell about it. She went on Oxygen's show to warn other women.

She'd been battling cancer for some time now, it would go into remission and then it would come back, worse than before.

Update on Sara, and request for more prayer. Our mutual friend emailed me with an update:

"She's not doing well. Her liver function is at %18 and her kidneys are beginning to shut down. Her best bet is a living donor and they haven't found one yet. She's got cancer and they can't treat it at all right now. IF they find a donor, she may very well bleed to death on the table. But she won't survive long without a donor. And if that problem gets solved, she gets to recover and fight cancer--again."

I have been praying as hard as I can, but I don't think it's enough...
