I simply have to share the new and remarkable book. Lifted, by Michelle Meisenbach teaches readers how to scraplift (hence the "lifted" title) layouts on their own by using a formula easily remembered in the letters of "Lifted".
L=Layout
I=Image (photo)
F=Format
T=Tiltle
E=Extras (embellishments, etc.)
D=Dye (color)
Each two-page spread in Lifted features a concept layout designed by either Michelle or one of the two women who worked with her on the book; Angie Dunn and Dayna Behning. The first page shows a unique and timeless original layout and the second page shows two layouts inspired by the first ; including detailed descriptions on what was lifted, why and how. There are over 160 layouts to learn from and each shows something special you can utilize in your own layouts and cards.
Here's the forward in her book:
"I believe people come into our lives for a reason. And so it is with me and Michelle. I met her for the first time at a scrapbook stores in the late nineties. I knew right then she was someone I would learn from. I remember being completely intrigued and full of wonder.
I conversed with Michelle each time we met up at the store; watching and waiting for the "reason" we'd met to unfold. Obvious were her uncanny persistence, realistic outlook on life and keen sense of humor, but I knew there was more. As she became comfortable she shared her albums with me. In one I witnessed a profound mother-daughter relationship that helped me to raise my own daughter. In other albums about her family I've learned about sincere love, reverence and devotion.
Michelle is the only person I know who has made an album from metal. Honestly, it’s a work of art; a masterpiece. Not only does it contain ingenious layouts but its pages are full of commitment, faith and love. I dare say it’s a mini workout just to turn the pages let alone to lift the creative marvel off the shelf.
Her scrapbooking style is clever, innovative and fresh. There have been times I’ve been so taken aback and motivated by her layouts and cards that I’ve wanted to immediately try the techniques she’s used. I always walk away from moments with Michelle wanting to be a little better, walk a little taller and laugh a little longer.
I’m so excited we’re going to get a glimpse into the creative genius of Michelle Meisenbach, Angie Dunn and Dayna Behning. These women are exceptional artists, teachers and scrapbookers and they freely share their talents with others.
Michelle and this book have come into your life for a reason, so learn all you can. I’m still learning from her and have determined that she came into my live for not just one reason, but many.
Congratulations on a great book, friend.
