You've got to see the new Carolee's Creations 12 x 12 Layout Magnet Board for scrappers. The surface is larger than 12 x 12 so it has all kinds of applications and possibilities besides just layouts. Here's one I just made:

Working for less than two hours, I created a message center/photo display for our home. I wanted to have a dry-erase surface for messages, so I found an aqua student-sized board at Target . (School supplies are plentiful in stores now that it's back-to-school season.). The dry-erase board is magnetic too. And, because it's removable I can have the entire surface for photos if I want.
All of the papers from the Scenic Route Metropolis kit were Mod Podged to the metal surface, wrapped to the backside, and brayerd for better adhesion. All surfaces were then sealed with a coat of clear acrylic spray. The wrapped edges give added protection to the metal edges and I even added cute XL Heidi Swap photo corners to help reinforce the corners too.
The sheet metal fits snuggly into the wood base (don't cover this area), so I left some the metal exposed at the bottom so the sheet slips in and out with ease like it's supposed to.
I hope this fun new product ignites your creativity too!! Think outside the box when you take a look at it.
Oh, and the part I love the best is flexibility for decorating. When room decor is changed (and the board has become an important family member) you can plop the decorated sheet (not the base, please) into the bathtub, give it a good soak, remove the old materials and replace them with a fresh, new ones.
