''Tommy's Story"   (14 comments, 87 views) Wednesday, 26 December 2007
I just wanted to tell you about Tommy. Well about 4 years ago a garbage man emptying a garbage can found him. His pads were raw from trying to get out. I thought someone cut his claws all the way off. He had none. Our garbage cans are huge with the wheels, so his only chance was to mew! And loud enough to be heard! Thank God!! Well my son and I brought him to the vet. He was so sick and little. The vet could hardly get a reading on his weight. He guessed he was about 6 or 7 weeks old. He was infested with fleas, worms and bloody poop. But I fell in love with him instantly! We took him home with medicine, and loved him! He never wanted me out of his sight. I call him "Mommy's Tommy" And sometimes" My Peeping Tommy".

What a great rescue story. Poor Tommy. Thank God you were there for him. My daughter-in-law had a similar experience rescuing a kitty she named Braveheart, because he suffered so much being in such bad shape like your Tommy. You are so sweet to have rescued little Tommy.

Oh Thank God for people like you. Tommy sure looks happy and healthy now. You have a wonderful kind heart and it endears you to me strongly. I love that you call him Mommy's Tommy. But here is a question. He looks calico. Someone told me once that all calico cats are female. Is this false info..........Or is he not calico. In some pics he looks more grayish...

Awww!! Poor little thing! I have such a soft spot for animals. I'm so glad you rescued him and gave him such a loving home. The pictures of him are too cute!! In the stroller and the swing, with all the stuffed animals . . . What a ham!

He is one lucky cat cuz he certainly "found" the right garbage can and the right garbage man to find him and, of course, you taking him to the vet and then giving him a loving home! He is a beautiful cat! Love all the photos of him!

Your story brought tears to my eyes....first in empathy for a little kitten that was soooooo mistreated and then tears of joy at a family that went the extra yard ( or two or three) to make a wonderful comfortable (comforting) home for a wonderful new friend. Thanks for sharing.

You keep making me cry! I have so many wonderful good & precious memories with animals at the center of them!
I love to hear other peoples stories too!

I am going to see if I have the extra copies of my parents photos together like the one in my blog. Isn't it somehow validating to know at one time, our parents loved one another? As a child, I only heard bad things about my mother. But later in life, Dads heart became tender, and he could no longer hold on to the old hard feelings, and love came shining through!
Now he lights up like a lamp when he talks about her, or sees her photos!
Just for the very first time, he recently told me she could play the piano beautifully!

Bless you & keep telling your stories!
I love them, and can see others do too!

What a great story, and something that was meant to be! I love to hear rescue stories, even though it's so sad that a rescue was needed!
