Flea Market happiness!   (2 comments, 47 views) Monday, 06 August 2007
There is a flea market on Sundays about 40 minutes from me.  The last time I was there was probably 10 years ago.  I just love that stuff - but just haven't been able to get back.

Well, the boys and dh were away for the weekend and it was the perfect time to go again.  What a BLAST! It's funny, but this time around I was searching for that perfect storage piece for my ever growing scrapbook supplies. The last time I was there, I didn't even know what scrapbooking was!  I found a great piece, but alas, can't post the pic since I'm still using film and I haven't finished the roll yet. Oh, digital IS so much easier that way, isn't it!

Other things I saw and liked:

* a woman bought an old wooden test tube holder for her pens - cool idea

* milk glass!

* belly dancer scarves! Yes, you heard me - they have jingley coins on them - a woman was wearing one and she looked adorable!  I thought it would be so cute for the beach. I've got her card . . . may have to get a couple for my nieces . . . I might look ridiculous in one however.

* old buttons - tons and tons of old buttons

* old sewing machine drawers. You know, the wooden ones that were on the sides of the mounted table top sewing machines.  There were tons of vedors with these. I know they can be used for something, just couldn't figure out what yesterday!

If anyone else has gotten some cool flea market buys, I'd love to hear about it!

I'll post my storage find as soon as I can get that roll of film done and developed!

Gosh, I wish I had a flea market near by. There is a huge one in Pasadena once a month but I've never made it out that way. Meantime, I troll the thrift stores now and again. I found some really cool scalloped box shelves not too long ago that are now part of the window display at the LSS. Can't wait to see your finds!

I've got an old treadle sewing machine that I'm going to give new life to. The framework, minus the drawers and top, are going to become a small table for my kitchen. The drawers, dh is going to build a frame, like a little dresser, and I'm going to use the drawers to stash my small sb goodies in! I love the primitive antiques, and if I could, my house would be filled with such "trash to treasures"!
