Instructions: Make 5 Petal flowers   (12 comments, 237 views) Saturday, 11 August 2007
I wanted 5 petal cardstock flowers but had no template. I kept trying to free-hand but they were soooo lop-sided. Here's what I figured out to do:

                                              5_petal_flowers

Tools & Materials
Star Template
Circle Template
Cardstock
chalk or ink, eyelets etc

1. Draw a 5 pointed star of any size. Think of it as having 5 arms and 5 armpits.

2. Find an appropriate sized circle that bits the point of the star's arm and also the middle of the armpits
on each side of the star's arm.

3. Draw the 5 circles around the star's arms.

4. Cut out around the circles. Embellish as you want.

Oh No! Do you mean you worked on it all weekend following my instructions and gave up?What happened? Can I send you an email attachment to follow? Email me at info@scraperfect.com and I'll send it to you!

Okay. You need to have a whole bunch of circles available to fit over the star. I use a template that says A & W Tru Bilt...I think it's made to select drill bits or wire gauges...It has circles from 11/32 up to 1.5". Then you just draw the star of any size and keep sizing circles over the arm until you find one that hits the 3 points. Actually, if they overlap it's okay--the flower petals just aren't so deep.

Short-n-Sassy wrote me a pm to say:

"I'm sorry I should have been more specific. I meant that I worked all weekend and then found your instructions after I gave up."

Soooooo....
..... if you're thinking of trying it, don't be scared off and give up before you do!
