My Personal History Daily Question #15   (1 comment, 82 views) Thursday, 20 July 2006

Journal your 3rd greade experience. Be as specific with names and places and dates as you can. Tell a funny story that happened to you while you were in 3rd grade.

My 3rd grade teacher was Mrs. Sands.  She was an older lady - probably in her 40s or 50s, lol, but my 1st grade teacher was just out of college and was beautiful and my 2nd grade teacher was probably in her 30s, so I thought this teacher was old.  She was sort of grumpy too.  I remember we were introduced to cursive writing in 3rd grade and I thought that was pretty cool that we were learning to write like grownups.  I remember one day one of the boys threw up right there at his desk.  Yuck!  The janitor had to come clean it up. Yuck!

My only other memory of third grade is getting ready for the May Day program. There were big squares painted on the playground with a circle painted inside each square. We had to line up and march around a circle.  One day we were practicing our march and someone came running over to our circle and told us something about Marilyn Monroe. (I remembered it as Marilyn Monroe died, but that's not right because this must have been May of 1961 and Marilyn didn't die until August of 1962.  I really hate getting old and not being able to remember).

I feel the same way. I couldn't remember much about 3rd grade either.
