Scrapbooking: Hobby or Therapy?   (2 comments, 77 views) Wednesday, 29 March 2006

Since I have started staying home with my son almost 2 years ago, I have really gotten into my scrapbooking dramatically.  For the 8 years before this, it was my hobby, my once-in-a-while thing to do.  Now, I look forward to crop nights out with my friends.  I look forward to viewing all the new entries in the 20K contest here at scrapbook.com.  I love to read my scrapbook magazines for new techniques, new products, the wonderful layouts and helpful tips.  Scrapbooking has been brought to a new light for me, and I never fully realized its full potential until recently.

Scrapbooking has the potential to lift sad spirits.  It can take your mind off of sorrowful events.  It leaves you feeling satisfied with what you have done.  It gives you a feeling of being proud, and a wonderful excuse to show off your photos.  It can leave you breathless, and can be breathtaking.  Scrapbooking fills you with joy and happiness and always seems to be there when you need it.  It can be therapeutic, such as helping you grieve a loss, feel your anger, or come out of a funk.  It sparks new creative thoughts, and rekindles once lost techniques.  It can keep you up until the wee hours of the morning without any caffeine because it's just that exciting.  It's the reason we love taking pictures.  It's the reason we build new friendships.  It's the reason many of us find ourselves self proclaimed "Scrapoholics".  It's the reason we love each other here at scrapbook.com so much.  Scrapbooking has brought us all here, together.

To all my fellow scrapbook neighbors, HERE'S TO US!

Carrie

Hiya, Carrie! You put this so eloquently. You just have that way of saying what you think so wonderfully. Like you're pages.
