The Weekend   (24 views) Monday, 09 July 2007
Okay so the weekend started off like any normal weekend.  We had friends over for the night to have dinner and watch movies.  Sunday morning came with a cooked breakfast and farewelling our friends while Jas finished off painting Amber's cupboard and room door.  As I met Jas in the room he said "Hey do you want to go pick up Amber?"  I thought hell why not.  So I collected just a few things for Jas and I, since we were only going overnight it didn't have to be a big pack and we jumped in the car.  The trip started off well and we got to about 8kms outside of Childers before trouble started - Jas says "Hey I've got an idiot light - the battery light has come up!", not thinking much of it he thought we would continue into Childers and then take a look at it, then "Hey my steerings got really heavy, maybe I've stalled it!?  Nope, okay that's odd", and then "Oh crap the temperature is going through the roof!!" and we pulled over quick smart.  I asked Jas what it could be and he said he had no idea, so I suggested looking under the bonnet, Jas said that he had no idea what he would be looking for but he did it anyway.  As soon as that bonnet came up the answer greeted us - we'd blown a fanbelt!  And here I was thinking it would be a quick trip to Bilo!  After trying unsuccessfully to call the RACQ, due to the service coming and going on my mobile, Jas went for a walk.  A little while later he appeared from over the hill infront of us saying that the RACQ would be with us in 5mins.  When they did arrive it was the tow truck - not what I was hoping for - so we saw for the first time, the car being put on the back and us piling into the truck for the remaining 4kms into town.  By the time we got to RACQ HQ my fingers were crossed that he would have a new fanbelt and we would be on our way - well you know the angels or something was watching us that day because once the RACQ man came out with the perfect replacement for the belt we realised that the reason it came off was because the Idler Pully Bearing was completely destroyed!  I figured we used up our luck finding the fan belt in his workshop but this?! Low and behold he had one!  Jas and the man got to work trying to figure out how to fit the fanbelt back in, the manual even came out to be looked at, then another man turned up and helped also.  After two hours we were on our way again - a little later than expected but on our way nonetheless.  Thankfully the rest of the trip to Bilo was boring and uneventful - I am just so glad that I didn't do this particular trip on my own!  (Bilo is were my mum & dad live and where Amber went for a weeks holiday - Bilo is around 700kms away and Childers is about halfway!) Now I have one more week left of school holidays, Amber and I will do the photo hunt together again this month so that should keep her busy.  Toodles
