Well, do I have to grow up? I used to think I wanted to go into computers. I thought they were so cool. My dad is in computers and growing up we always had terminals and then pc's around the house. I was just about the coolest thing in the neighborhood (late 70's) because I could go on the computer and play games. Remember this is in the days that VCRs and Pong were just starting.
Well, fast forwrd to college. Computer class not so much fun. My brain just doesn't really work that way. So I ended up switching to Econ. Thought maybe a stockbroker. Then I started doing research for one of my professors, on information sciences and how computers and technology were affecting the economy. Wow, I was hooked. Off to library school to become a professional librarian. Going to graduate school was the best thing I ever did for myself. I gained so much self confidence, I loved my classes, I was able to use computers to find information. I received my MLIS (Masters of Library and Information Science) and had a great time.
Well, then I had children. Yes, 9 months after graduation my ds was born. I never got to work outside of the school. I did a short internship and then became a stay at home mom. I don't regret giving up a career for my children. They are the best thing that ever happened to me. And besides, I can search the web like nobody's business.
