My Little Poodles   (1 comment, 59 views) Saturday, 18 November 2006

This is rather long.

DH called me at work the week before last and asked me if I would like to have two more poodles. He said he thought “Missy”; (our 9 year old poodle), might like the company. Since our Siamese cat “Samantha” died, Missy began suffering from separation anxiety. She no longer had a playmate so she would spend her time digging in the carpet or worse the furniture. She also started knocking over the garbage can and plundering inside. Oh and not to mention the “don’t leave me at home” gifts she would leave on the carpet, you know the smelly kind and don’t forget the wet spots my bare feet always found! Well DH started taking her to work with him almost two years ago and that’s when the spoiling began. But that’s another story.

Anyway last Saturday DH brought home Mammy and Meme. Mammy is 7 years old and fixed and Meme is 5. Meme is also one of Mammy’s daughters. Mammy is solid black with very little silver in her face and Meme well bless her heart is head and neck black and the rest brown. Meme also never got her tail cropped so she doesn’t look like the fancy poodles.

I also had my DGD’s here that Saturday, which that was ok, because each child had a dog to play with that evening before bed time. But that night was terrible. I didn’t sleep a wink! We were told the dogs liked to sleep on a mat in the hall. So I put down an old comforter for them and went to bed. Missy hopped up and went to the foot of the bed as usual but Mammy and Meme were barking and trying to jump up too. DH put them on the bed and Mammy quickly lay down on my left side and Meme plopped down on my stomach. Well jealous Missy wasn’t going to miss out so she plopped down on my chest. LOL! So there I was nice and toasty all night. I moved them several times but they would always come back to the same spots. Meme also barked all night every time the heater would come on. The saga continues……Week One Coming soon!

We had a cocker spaniel for a little while. She learned two wonderful things in her time here. If she stayed on the rug beside the bed when she came in the bedroom with me and not get on the bed, DH wouldn't notice her when he came into bed (at that time he would go to bed much later than me) and put her on the back enclosed porch, then she could spend the night in the bedroom with us. Then in the morning when I got up, she could hop up on the bed and snuggle next to DH until he got up.
She was far too smart in a lot of ways!
