Use the magnetic foot to avoid putting a hole in the center of your circle, if desired.
Helpful hints using your new circle cutter
We have no doubt you are going to love working with the new Crater's Ultimate Cutting Toolkit. It includes some of the most unique and precise tools available to scrapbookers. The circle cutter is a very simple, yet accurate tool that will take a little bit of practice. Once you've mastered it, though, you'll be raving about it to all your friends.
The circle cutter can cut circles from 1/2" to 6" in diameter. It can also be used with or without the magnetic foot. If you do not want a small pinhole in the center of whatever you're cutting, use the magnetic foot. When using the magnetic foot, loosen the blade and slide it down (extended) and retighten it so that the tool remains level. The magnetic foot has a non-slip surface on it which keeps the magnet from sliding around on your project.
Before you begin, it is important to note that you should not apply too much pressure when cutting. Let the blade do all the work. Lightly spin the tool around the pivot pin. The blade is very sharp and will slice through the paper nicely. It is likely that you will need to go around the circle several times before it is completely cut out. Also, you should do all your work using the magnetic cutting mat, included in the set, as your base.
So let's get started. First, remove the safety cap and determine the diameter of circle you wish to cut. Release the tab on the back (non printed) side of the tool, and slide the tool apart until you have the diameter circle you wish to cut. Note that the measurements on the tool indicate the circle diameter you wish to cut. Once selected, press the tab back into place, securing the circle size. Secure the paper or photo you will be cutting with the magnetic posts. Place the center pin in the middle of the circle you will be cutting. If you are using the magnetic foot, extend the blade and place the pivot pin in the divot on the magnetic foot.
Use one hand to spin the tool in a clockwise direction. Again, you will not need to apply much pressure at all. Lightly spin the tool around and around until you see your circle is completely cut out. If you miss a section, simply go back and use the blade to slice out that area before removing the circle you just cut out. Happy Circle Cutting!
