Will the $1000 prize be awarded in the form of cash or product?

The prize is $1000 of assorted scrapbooking products. The assortment will contain products from the Contest Sponsors, and may contain product from other manufacturers at Scrapbook.com's discretion.

Am I eligible to enter the contest if I am a resident of a country other than the United States and Canada?

Unfortunately, due to the number of legal restrictions surrounding U.S. companies operating contests for residents of other countries, the contest is restricted to residents of the United States and Canada only. Residents of Puerto Rico and Quebec are not eligible for the contest. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. All decisions regarding the scope of the contest were determined by our attorneys. All enquiries may be directed in writing to our legal counsel:

Mesa, AZ 85203

Why are residents of Puerto Rico and Quebec restricted from entering your online contest?

This is due to strict laws in Puerto Rico that make residents of that territory ineligible to enter our contest because Puerto Rico law requires that all promotional materials related to the contest be presented in both English and Spanish. Quebec also has very strict laws that require that contests open to residents of Quebec present promotional materials in both English and French. Unfortunately, providing legally acceptable Spanish and French translations of the English rules is not feasible for us. We wish it were otherwise, and hope that you understand.

Can people under the age of 18 enter if they have a signed release from their parent or guardian?

Laws regulate the participation of people under the age of 18 in any contest. Due to the administrative burden that would result from processing parental releases, the contest is open only to people age 18 and older.

Can I submit layouts that are digitally created?

No. All layouts submitted to the contest must be scans or photos of physical layouts. Some elements composing a physical layout may have been created in a digital environment, but such elements must be printed and affixed to the layout. Such items must not compose the majority of the layout. Computer generated fonts and journaling are acceptable.

Can a previously uploaded layout from my Scrapbook.com gallery be posted to the contest?

Yes, provided that the layout was first uploaded to your gallery no earlier than Jan. 3, 2006. Layouts uploaded earlier than this date are not eligible for consideration.

Can I submit my layout to other contests, magazines, or websites?

No. Layouts that have been found to have been submitted to other contests, magazines, or websites before or during the contest will be disqualified. Layouts that do not win the Scrapbook.com $20,000 Layout Contest may be submitted to other contests, magazines, or websites only after winners to the Scrapbook.com contest have been announced.

Can I enter tags or cards to the contest?

No. Only scrapbook layouts measuring 8"x8" or larger are eligible.

Does a two page layout count as one entry?

Yes.

Can I upload a two-page layout separately or do I have to stitch the two sides together in a photo editing program?

You can do either. A two-page layout may be uploaded as two separate thumbnails, or you may stitch them together and upload the entire image as one thumbnail. Choose whichever option suits the detail of your layout best.

Do the three layouts I submit have to be themed or related?

No. Our Contest Review Committee will look at each layout individually, then as a group to get an overall feel for your style, consistency, variety and technique.

Can I change or edit a layout I’ve already uploaded to the contest gallery, prior to the final contest deadline?

Yes. However, if you attempt to change or edit any part of your entry after the contest has officially closed, your entries will be ejected from the contest gallery and sent to your member gallery. We offer no “last minute” support if this occurs. It is important to get your entries in on time and to be sure they are presented and labeled 100% the way you want them (layout, description, products used, etc.)

How will the contest be judged? (Criteria)

Contest Criteria -
Judging will be based on, but not limited to the following criteria:
  1. Design elements (color, repetition, balance etc.)
  2. Use of title/journaling (the story)
  3. Photo quality
  4. Originality and Innovation
  5. Quality of the submitted scan (we suggest 600x600 up to 1000x1000 in size, 72 dpi, and .jpg format). You may submit a digital photograph of your layout, but you may be asked to provide a better scan if needed.
