Wow...I cannot believe I found another challenge!! Here is my journal...
My DD who is 11 wanted to learn to scrapbook, she had been bothering me to do it, but I kept thinking she was too young. Well, I had given her some professional photos that I had used duplicates of and didn't need. She came in got some red and green paper, cut a decorative border on one, adding her pictures, a few stickers and said look mom...do you like it!! I was impressed that with basically using nothing...she had done sooo good...so, I decided to start teaching her how to scrapbook like I scrapbook. After NSBD, and all of her help that day in the challenges, I decided it was time to sit down and teach her.
First, we shopped for an album for her to use. She picked out a pretty pink and purple striped one with a big butterfly on the front. I uploaded her camera pics to my PC, had her choose which ones she wanted to scrap first, then printed them out. She then picked out her pp she wanted to use, I listed the different techniques she could use, and she picked stitching. I set her down, showed her how to poke the holes, then when she was done with that, I showed her how to backstitch the pattern. Halfway through it, she brings it to me, saying she had messed up. A middle stitched flower was all bunched up and humungous...so I started un-stitching it, come to find out...she had gotten the working thread and the tail of the thread together and was trying to pull both through the stitches...no wonder she was having a hard time!! I got it all straightened out and gave it back to her to finish.
She matted her photos and placed them down. Then she picked out chipboard for her title letters, and was very picky about how they were to be placed on the sheet. She found some embellie stickers she liked and a quote "my favorite things" to place on the page. The page was of her Mamaw and Papaw each holding her baby brother!!! She showed it to her Mamaw, and her Mamaw almost cried!!!
I was so happy and proud of my DD!!! I was thrilled that this hobby that I love so much could be shared with her, that we could sit and work together and have quality time...that she wanted to do something that her mommy did!! I was so proud of her...she has a mind of her own, she knows what she likes and what she wants! She is very creative and has a good eye for what looks good. I am always calling her in to ask her opinion on my LOs. She is such a big helper.
Wanted to show you her LO
