Hello there, my husband and I trying to get pregnant. I'm fairly healthy and work a full time job that keeps me going. My husband is Type 1 Diabetic and a lot of people told us we cannot concieve with his diabetes. He keeps his sugars and health in the best of shape. I'm just concerned and have not on any type of birth control and been tracking my ovulation, I just feel like I'm struggling to get pregnant.. I'm not too stressed, which I know is a big factor. I just worry with a lot of outside advice concerning this matter..
A lot of people think they know everything about medical stuff and offer "advice" that really is of no merit because they really don't know what they're talking about. The diabetes really doesn't have anything to do with the ability to get pregnant.
It can be a long tortuous process, there are trying to concieve forums out there where you will find people that are going through it too, and they can offer ideas on things to try.
If you've been at it for a year or more, see your doc. They can investigate the cause of the trouble.
The nurse in me got curious and did some reading. Apparently his diabetes can affect swimmer quality. I would think if its pretty well controlled it would minimize that risk. So his diabetes might make it more difficult, but not impossible.
If you've been trying for a long time (especially if >1 year), you can talk to your doc. They can do an analysis of his swimmers, and some testing on you too. There are some simple things that can cause infertility that are easily fixed. I had a friend ready to do IVF when they realized it was her thyroid that was off. They put her on thyroid medicine and she conceived the next cycle.
Don't feel bad about seeing docs for this stuff. That's what they're there for.

Oh well god bless all of you guys, I will daily pray for you starting today. I have an odd "experienec" I have two kids. Cody is 12 and Kaili is 7. They are very healthy and sweet bit of a nmean streak in the boy though ha ha ha !
I have several things i NEED to change about myself i wrote out a list of the 10 things to change and at the end of a list i wrote secrret desire. I had to think a car finally or what a house? I know what i want "a baby girl" three months later after working hard of changing and reading my Bible (kjv) DAILY I found out i was prego!!!!!! On my christmas eve bday i was told it was a GIRL" now here is the ticker: I want more!!! I first have got to take better *(get into routines) care of the ones i have that is essential!!! I believe god would like to bless me with twins!! Iknow it sounds crazy and if my hubby ever reads this he will call me crazy insane.
Hang in there... my OB told me I was not able to get preggo so I went to a Specialist and after a year of treatment I have a happy healthy 5 month old baby boy.
My Hubby and I tried for 5 years before we finally were able to conceive. It for sure is a LONG hard process. Preggo women stuck out like a sore thumb to me all the time and all my friends seemed to be getting preggo really fast with no problems. I found a forum online and made some great friends who I still keep in contact with to this day. We were all there for each other while trying to get preggo.
There are a lot more people out there with fertility problems than you think. Once I decided to be open with people, I realized I was not the ONLY one out there.
My parents were told they couldn't conceive, and 23 and a half years after they were married, I was born. AND I was conceived naturally, no in vitro or hormone supplements. My mom was 43 an my dad was 45, but I was (according to them) the best gift they could have received, no matter what age they were.
Don't lose hope, I may study science, but there are some things science can not explain.
