I got to thinking that many of us have so much craft clutter and with spring around the corner, I thought we could all start to clean and organize our work space since we all seem to have that problem.

If you have a desk or table (diningroom or kitchen) that has clutter -- this may be for you.

Last week on Oprah -- she had a show about making 2007 the year you clean up and start living a better life.

If you missed the show, you can go here for a synopsis of points covered: Oprah's Clutter Control Show

So this thread is a support thread. You can set a few goals and then tell us what you did just to make yourself feel better about your environment.
We can all encourage one another and maybe in a couple of months, our homes will be cleaner than they are now.

Anyone care to join me in the Battle of Clutter?
Sign on!

Thanks!

Thanks ladies! I am glad I am not alone.

I feel so much better admitting, yes there is a problem!

I told myself that this year is the year I can only make things with whatever I have on hand -- only buy stuff in an emergency situation.

Today, my goal is to fill a brown bag with paper trash and fill a box with toys the kids do not use anymore. I am dedicating 1:30pm -2:30 pm to accomplish this goal and maybe another surprise one.

The crusade is ON!
If you are reading this thread -- and you are in denial, sign on, and release yourself of the guilt!

Going to eat lunch now.
Will check in to see how many addicts have signed on and committed themselves to rehab.

We should come up with a twelve step program.

I'd like to join in. There is a lot of clutter in my house and I've been needing to take on a challenge like this for YEARS. I have a lot to do. I'll make some goals and check in.

I've been planning out some goals, but now I'm wondering where to put everything once I get it all out. LOL I think I may be a pack rat in denial! Are you all planning to toss out most of the clutter or find a way to organize? For me, I'm sure it will be a little of both. But I'd like what I decide to keep to be neatly stored. Any ideas?!

Ok -- I found 12 medium sized toys, priced them, and put them aside in a box in a designated place ("the pile") for the neighborhood yardsale.

I threw out a bunch of catalogs and old phone books that equals one brown grocery bag.

I have a small amount to donate to Good Will or Salvation Army. I am going to work on that to make it a larger donation.

TIP: Even if you have clothing not in good condition or old shoes -- you label a bag "clean salvage" and you can still donate them and they sell to the rag industry raising more money for them. Call your local shop to be sure though. Make sure the old clothing is clean though.

I did not save very much. I really want to get rid of stuff.

It might be nice if I took down the Christmas tree (still decorated, we turn the lights on every day) but we store it in the cellar and that is being worked on at this time (walls going up) so I can't do that right now. With the snowstorm, it sort of looks good for the time being. LOL

So as they stated -- three bins or bags:
toss/throw out --- keep --- donate

I need to do some cleaning too. I get so aggrevated because I will get my desktop cleaned off. Walk out of the room and then back and its piled high again. I think I have clutter elves living in there and they like to keep it a mess for me, lol.

As soon as I get home from work I am planning on getting started.

I agree I need to clean out my clutter. I have no choice I am moving from NE to FL in April. Until then I will probably avoid it.

You say "scrapaholic" like it's a bad thing!

Do they have therapy groups that let you carry scissors?

CLUTTER. Well, that about describes my house in a word! I need to start with paperwork and junk mail. Soemtimes I think the pile grows roots! I already went through the clothes this fall and my kitchen is down to very basic necessities. If it doesn't multitask - it's out of here! I could use another room or a bigger one. My husband works out of the house, so the back room is divided - his office on one side and my desk/craft corner on the other. I think I need more or better organization.

Yes, the junk mail is an issue with me.

Someone told me that you touch it once and that is it, toss it right away.

I do put all those darn credit card offers aside and shred them all in one sitting because there are too many of them at a time. I have called them up and ask them to remove our names from the list. That lasts a while but then they are back at it again.

I think that I will be doing my cluttering-out this weekend. I was going to do the consignment sale for the kids clothes where I could make some money back, but I really don't wanna deal with it. I think that I may just let my mom take all of these clothes to Goodwill or donate them myself to the battered women's shelter.

Yes, the smaller the kids are, it seems they have the most clothing because they grow out of it so fast.

That is the worst part of cleaning out -- doing the kids clothing and if you have a few kids, then the job is harder.

I think a weekend is a good time to do this, especially in the winter, they are not going to go out in the cold. I think we will schedule that for Saturday by appointment, one in the morning, one in the after noon with a time limit of 2 maybe 3 hours.

OK,
I'm going through the pile of mail today. I'm resolving to do it each day so it doesn't pile up. It sure does get out of control fast.

I'm working the next 3 days at the scrapbook expo, so I won't get much done this weekend. Next week though, I'm all over it!!!

We have a real estate agent who sponsors a neighborhood yard sale - I think it's in the first week of April- she does all the advertising and signs and everything.

We will definitely participate this year. I have a lot to get done before then. Whatever doesn't sell, I'll donate.

Should I buy more sb stuff with the earnings??

I think it's good to have a date and a goal though.
