Hello out there to any South Dakota scrappers! If you are from SD please respond. I would love to meet someone who is my "real" neighbor. I have searched on this forum and can't find any other South Dakotans. Maybe all the SD scrappers are not on this site.
Not sure I will count, I married in Rapid City, lived there 4 years. We've only gotten to come back "home" once in 44 yrs. Boy it has changed.
I loved it there. Would love to hear from some of you.
I know I shouldn't reply on this but what the hey..
I'm technically from ND but the family farm is only 2 miles from the SD border and only about 2.5 hours from Rapid City so I've been there a bunch. My Dad is buried at the Black Hills Nat'l Cemetery near Stugis so I make it down there every year to put flowers on his grave. It's very beautiful in the Black Hills.
My first spring in Rapid City, having come straight from Texas, nearly had heart failure when it snowed on Mother's Day.
SD weather can be the most beautiful in the world.
I didn't even mind the blizzards except when the electricity would be down, and that was not too pleasant. Surviving in a 2 story base housing for days with a 18 mo old was hazzardous to my health. LOL
Annie - I don't mind the blizzards much either, but last years ice storm in November put us without electricity for 8 days! We have a well, so no electricity means no water also. I finally had to move out with my kids while dh stayed home with a small propane heater to keep an eye on the house and pets. Not fun!
Are there good LSS there now? or do you have to do most of buying on line?
Really need to get back to working on my SD vacation scrapbook. It is pretty plain vanilla, because we were gone 8/9 days, so have all the states coming and going (went up one way and back down another)plus the Precious Moments Museum grounds. Did have to get a larger album, and I am not even through...
Gotta go start changing all the clocks and convince myself I don't mind giving up an hour of sleep.
