Has anyone ever distressed or colored cloth here? I have several "scrap" pieces of things I did when I did silk embroidery that I would like to use in los. They are on a cream colored silk and I would like to use one in an earthy sort of lo with browns, etc. and the cream color needs to be softened. I've been experimenting with my distress inks, but I'm having to use a lot of the ink. Watercolors sort of work, but I'm still not exactly pleased with the results. I've been wondering about fabric dyes...or something. Any experience with this or ideas?

Have you tried alcohol inks? I have not used them on fabric before, but they might work.

I also quilt, as well as scrapbooking. The only way I've gotten my fabrics to look decent when trying to get them brown as you described is to dye them with tea or coffee. PM me if you want details.
