Michelle - you can just get your bread crumbs together, but I wouldn't mix it yet. I always crumble the cornbread into a big bowl a day or so ahead. So far the vegetable stock (for the brine) is simmering, cranberry sauce is done as is the cornbread. I'm holding the line this year and not making too much stuffing. The last couple years some of it went to waste. I will be good. I will be good...

Ria - are you using raw yams? I know they will cook in a toaster oven because I have done it. I have a Nesco roaster that I'll probably use Thursday. It will cook the bird but not brown it.
I like baked yams with butter then drizzle maple syrup over it. I"m weird and don't like marshmallows at all.

Thanks Marlene! I just started boiling the yams, then I will mix in the goodies. If I dont have those, the family get's peeved with me! I got the eggs hard boiled for the deviled eggs, which I will mix tomorrow, and I am going to get the cheese cubed up. Then on to the cranberries. My goal is to only have the pies to do tomorrow and the stuffing Thanksgiving morning. I found a mashed potatoes casserole I can do ahead of time as well, and it will still be good with the gravy

Marlene I've never used raw yams. Am I supposed to boil them first?

Popping in. I am using those holly leaves again and making a wreath. Oh my goodness the work this entails. And I still have a lot to do for Thanksgiving. I will do the potatoes and deviled eggs tomorrow. Also the pies. Veggies are the ones I canned during summer, so only have to heat them up cause they already taste good.

Ria - you can just take a raw yam and put it in the oven for about an hour, then peel the skin off and voila!
In a food processor take 6 cups mashed potatoes, add 12 oz block of cream, one small onion (1/4 cup) and an egg. Buzz till blended. put in buttered casserol and top with bread crumbs and thin slices of butter. Bake about 1/2 hour.
Deviled eggs. Hard boil the eggs, put them in ice water. Peel. Cut in half. Reserve the yolks, mix w/3 parts mayo to one part mustard, salt and pepper to taste and mix well. You can add a little onion, capers, pickles olives or whatever. I like to top with paprika cause it's pretty.
