I'm trying really hard to avoid the prophylactics and feminine hygiene products here.

A tip for masculinity... shooting from below the subject (when it's a person) emphasizes masculinity.

Do you mean like kneeling down and looking up at your subject?

Yes. Or having them up higher than you, like on a ledge, in a tree, etc.

Also shooting from above, looking down onto your subject (like a kid looking up at you), emphasizes innocence.

Thanks for the tips Danielle..

I have been mia for a few and haven't taken a photo in weeks. Been busy with the hubby! Somedays he requires a lot of attention...and I love to give him all the attention he wants!

So anyway, I want to try to catch up on the assignments, they've been great Mandy.

Have everyone has a great Friday!

Question.... Is it possible for a bright colored object to pull the focus in a photo. For example I was taking a pic of Brooky and there was a large bright red bow to the lower corner of the shot that kept stealing the focus, so it seemed, and so I took it out of the shot and I was able to keep the focus on her. Is that possible or is it just user error?

Mandy, it depends on the auto focus system. Sometimes brightly colored, high contrast or highly textured objects can make the AF act strangely.

In those cases, I switch to MF.

Ok that makes sense. I'll have to try it again on MF to see the results. Thanks Danielle.

JCI -- haven't taken a photo for this yet... not sure what I want to do for it LOL

I had a question for you all here... do you all watermark your photos? I'm sure anyone who does professional shots probably would but wasn't sure if anyone else does?

My dad mentioned it to me a couple of times before, and then again last night... that he thought I should be somehow adding a watermark to photos I post online.

What are your thoughts? If you do add one to yours... HOW do you do it? I don't even have a clue!

I don't watermark. But then my rule of thumb is never post anything you don't expect to be lifted. If it's online it will be stolen.

Watermarks can be removed by someone who knows what they're doing. And someone who doesn't is not likely to remove my metadata.

All you do to add a watermark, or tag as most people are calling it now, is put a tag of text or other symbol wherever you want on the image using a photo editing program.

Thanks Mandy and Danielle...

I just wasn't sure if that was something I should be doing or not. I never have before.. other than just adding text with my name to a few photos that I added to a challenge on another site (that is one of the things that is a requirement -- just to make it easier to identify photos in a challenge album that everyone uploads to)

I don't think anything I take is important enough to steal off the internet anyway LOL! If a person want one of the 16 photos I took of an apple the other day... they can have at them. LOL!!!

I don't have a photo still for this theme, don't even have anything in mind.

But an earlier post by Danielle (I think) about getting down low to take a photo reminded me of one I took late October..so I pulled it out and started playing with it (never good when you are sleepy... you start getting goofy with your editing) I added some goofy things in a couple of them (airplanes and silly things.. my son will think they are funny in the morning LOL)

But I did add some clouds in LOL because well I don't know, just because

Big Boy (without clouds) By Mama Of A Monkey

lol I'm sleepy.. I was just thinking they always say to never "drunk dial" .... I think there should be a never "sleepy edit" rule... ha!
