I'm trying to get into a routine of scrapping a little in the evenings after the boys are in bed. I have gotten 2 LOs done so far. I am hoping to play some catch up on my albums over the next 6 months.
I'm going to a fundraiser for a family leaving for missions this friday at our church. I'm really hoping to get at least a few LOs done and a wreath made for a secret sister swap. It was suppose to be a Christmas swap. But everyone got behind this year. So we switched it to a 'Love Ya Like a Sister' Valentine's day swap. So I found a really cute paper heart wreath that my swap sister pinned on pinterest. At least this way I know she'll like it because she pinned it.
I am still alive and kicking in my little part of the world in Conover, NC!!! I had the nerve stimulator surgery on Dec.7,2011. So far I can not tell that it is helping any. I, of course had complications during the surgery, the dr ended up having to cut deeper than he thought and so the surgery took longer. I was told I would be out of surgery and in the recovery room by 6:30pm and when I woke up in the recovery room it was almost 9:00pm. The recovery room people sent me upstairs in way too much pain. I was attended by my nurse at the bedside until the wee hours of the 8th. My blood pressure was staying in the 160s-170s over 100*110 so she kept calling the dr to get me more pain meds. This time I did not have the epiduaral after surgery so I felt all of that pain, he had to cut away part of my spine to inplant the nerve stimulator. Well, then the rep from the company came to program the stimulator early Thursday morning, I was in so much pain that I could not lay flat on my back so he didn't get a good program in the remote control device. After I came home, I developed a huge hematoma at the incision site of the battery for the stimulator so I could not get the charger to pick up. So, I had to stop using it so the battery would not run completely down. I wasn't able to start charging the battery until the 1st week of Jan. Then the program that was in the device did nothing for my pain. It was reprogamed tow weeks ago this Tues and still not feeling a lot of relief. It has taken the pin pricking feeling that was in my right leg just not helping with the lower back pain and the pain down my leg. I fell two weeks ago down the steps and my left knee took most of the fall so now I am having knee pain which has been treated with ice and heat therapy, steriods and ibufrouen for the swelling and of course I am still on time released opana 30mg twice a day and 10mg of perocet every 6 hrs. I guess they will have to xray and see what is wrong since it isn't getting better. Hubby and I are hanging in there and hoping for the best with the results of the stimualtor. They don't know if or when I will be able to go back to work they don't know if I will even be able to get off of the pain meds yet.
The furbabies are doing well.
I have been active blogging and met lots of nice ladies that enjoy the primitive/vintage style of decorating and also lots of blogs that enjoy crafting with vintage inspired images and items. Ladies that love old things as much as I do. One lady her blog is creative breathing blogspot.com oh my gosh her work is soo cute. She makes vintage inspired characters out of felt! They are so adoreable and her paper art is remarkable. She is no longer actively blogging but keeps her blog up and she has patterns listed on the sidebar for all of her creations for all the holidays. I have been lucky to enjoy private swaps with a few of the ladies for Christmas and now Valentine's Day. Oh and I just love vintage valentines and have grown my collection thanks to ebay. I was spoled greatly by Kim and Kendra in our Valentine's Day swap. I posted pictures on my blog if you want to check them out.
Most days are spent trying to beat the pain which means I sleep alot from the pain meds. When I am able, I am creating altered art with vintage images. I love to make banners for my home for the different holidays. I was blessed at Halloween to have a neighbor and his family to stop by for Halloween. The grandbabies 1st Halloween and I made her a paperbag album. They took a tour of my home all decked out for Halloween and gave me many compliments on my Halloween decor and the home decor too. I was so proud when about an hour later, the neighbors other daughter and sister came down to get a tour. They told us that Stewart had talked about how cute our house was for about 30 minutes so they had to come see it for themselves and then she asked if it was ok for her to take pictures of the rooms and I said sure!! When they left hubby was smiling like a proud peacock!! He said, Honey, I don't tell you enough but I am so thankful that you take the time to decorate our home for each holiday and season and make it such a special place to come home to. Well, you know me I was sobbing by then.
I have made many friends in blogland who have shared how tos on lots of the goodies I find in prim style stores or on ebay or etsy. Now that I know how to make things myself, I am creating when I can and saving money too!! please check out my blog http:/lifeonthewieneeranc h.blogspot.com and you can look at old posts to see my home decorated for Halloween, Christmas, lots of my collections, the craftroom, the front porch decorated for Halloween, and today I posted the goodies I got in the mail yesterday. I forgot to take a picture of my three new dachshund theme Valentines that a primitive/vintage/doxie lover sent to me to cheer me up from the past couple of weeks that I have had.
Laura, congratulation on your marriage! I wish you both all the happiness that you deserve!
Mindy, I can't believe that Ian is two!! Hope the boys are doing well and congratulations to Ryan for going to police school and following his dream.
Amy, I miss all of your wonderful creations but sometimes you need a break. I hope that you and Brain are doing well.
Jordan hope all is well with your family too.
Suzi, congratulations on the grandbabies and how nice to have your daughter close! Enjoy those grandbabies!!
Nina, I see that you are still busy as ever juggling 20 things at a time and you do everything so well!!!
To all the other girls a big hello.
I did talk to Trish over the holidays because for some reason, I did it and didn't realize it, but something I bought off ebay was sent to Trish by mistake. I had bought something for her years ago when she was a pal in a swap. I had never deleted her address off my ebay thing and had always edit it at checkout before I paid. Well, this one lady printed out the info before I paid and sent it to Trish. I called her to see if it had arrived and asked her to please forward it to me. She had them and she sent them on to me. I quickly went on ebay and deleted every address but my own. I had quite a few pal addresses because I would buy an item for a swap and just have it mailed to them instead of paying to ship it twice.
Well now that I wrote a book and updated you girls on what is happening with me I will shut up for a while. I hope all of you are having a great year so far and take care and keep in touch. I miss everyone. I had altered a large chipboard key with black and white paper that had Paris images and places on it and I tied a silver eifel tower charm onto the ribbon before adding it to the key. When I was making it I thought about our group and how we used to do atc swaps and I displayed all of our Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas ATCs on a shelf during the holidays. I placed the atcs in a silver photo holder thingie and got lots of compliments on our ATCs. Twila hosted that swap in 2007!!!
Have a wonderful night, day, week, month, and year!
HI everyone... WOW! I can't believe I haven't been on here since Dec. I truly didn't think that much time has passed since my last visit. I am truly ashamed! I will make a better effort to be on weekly!
We have had a lot transpire as well. My mil had a fall right before Thanksgiving and just now got out of the nursing home. Altough I am not sure she will be able to ever walk without her walker, she is much better and still hopes she will be able too. I have spent quite a bit of time with her as well as taking her to her doctor appointments. Morgan's schedule keeps me busy with speech and show choir competitions and now she made the spring play with a smaller part, but just running to pick her up and take her can sometimes be annoying, mainly because it is an everyday kind of thing. I pushed my challenges for my blog to only twice a month now because it was taking up too much time. I designed an image for a fund raiser that will be helping a little 2 years raise money for her cancer treatmenst. I am not running the blog hop, but designed a monster like because she loves monsters. I actually designed 3 images and will let you know when the hop takes place.
Last weekend I spent 2+ hours at the vet then 3+ hours at the emergency clinic and took her back this past Wed. to the dog opthamologist and had an ultrasound done to find out she has a detached retina. So, not sure what we are going to do, but we are suppose to go back next week for a check up and see our options. To date we have spent 750.00 and that was basically to just get the diagnosis... so ugh..... love my pets though.
Both Morgan & Avery had excellent report cards and I spent last week doing an art project for the school using all the students and staff finger prints for an auction item to help raise money for the school. It turned out really cute and I will post it sometime soon so you can all see it. Other then that it is all the same ole same ole.
I pulled out some of my scap pages the other day and was looking at them and I am going to really really really going to start making time to get back into my scrapping.
Mindy you are such the machine. You will have to post your wreath too. I am sure it will be lovely!
Lynn, I am sorry to hear you are still in the place of dealing with so much pain. I will add you to my prayer list and continue to pray for you. You sound like you are still pretty active doing fun things though and I love hearing all about your stories and how your dh praised your house decorating... sometimes we need to hear those things they take for granted and we get small pleasures in. Thanks for stopping by and giving us an update it was good hearing from you.
Well, Indianapolis as buzzing with excitement with the super bowl here. I went downtown Friday with a girlfriend and spent most of the day and evening. We had a great time, lots of good music, too many people and lots of innebreated. I had this woman grab me and wanted to dance with me and won't stop hanging on me, she told me "you know you want it" "you're to cute and sexy" ummmm... I was not innebreated and then she attempted to kiss me and I turned my head and she kissed my on the check. I then told her she best get her hands off me and tried to push her away. It was quite embarassing all the was around. I told Eric I would just chalk it up to a new experience and something I hope never happens again, well, outside of that we had fun.
Started to look at pinterest more recently now and geeze I just hate getting sucked into another thing I end up spending too much time on...
OK... need to head for bed and hope to have a back to normal kind of week this upcoming week. I will not let that much time pass again!!
Lynn, I was thinking of you the other day and wondering if you ever got the stimulator placed. I truly hope it works out for you. Sounds like you have found a lot of friends in the decorating world. I love going into primitive craft stores and looking around. My house isn't in that style but I also see something of the coolest crafty things in those stores.
Ninay, welcome to the 'time suck' that is pinetrest. Such a great idea to have all your artsy, crafty, food, fashion.....all in one website. I have found and made things from that site that I never would have looked for before. LOVE IT!
I'm busy making b'day gifts right now. Lots of jewelry and t-shirt refashions for Jorday, Missie, and Katie-Paige, and possibly Brandy. Ryan is still loving school although he is starting to feel tired and worn out from working full time and school full time (not to mention the 2 hours on the road everyday). We really miss having him at home and I am definitely counting down the days till June. I am trying to arrange a to trip to Charleston to see Missie and the kids. My Mom & Step Dad are going down in March for Katie-Paige's 13th birthday and asked me & the boys to come with. Really hoping I can. I sure miss them all too.
Hey there everyone!! All I can say is I can't wait until summer. Not necessarily because of the weather, because that has not been so bad so far this year. Mainly so we can slow down and have our weekends back. Don't get me wrong I love that my kids are involved in things, but sometimes it just seems like there is not much down time and with speech and show choir with Morgan that falls onto our Saturdays and is usually an all day thing. Her first show choir competition is this weekend, she has a solo so I hope she does well, she was a little of in a certain part when she did it for the parents so I hope her teacher has helped her out there, plus I am certain part of it is her nerves. Also, need to get Avery signed up for soccer, ugh.... I love my children, but sometimes I dream of what I would be doing if I didn't have them or if I was an empty nester! lol.. hope that doesn't sound bad!
Have to take Millie our dog back to the doctor this week to get her eye pressure checked again since she has that detached retina and then I guess well see what our next step might be with it.
Minday, I would really like to see your jewerly and t-shirt refashions, I seen a really cute t-shirt refashion on pintest, I think I re-pinned it, it was a cute and would be really cute over a tank top for summer. I am sure Ryan is tired, but it will be worth it in the big skeme of things. I sure hope you get to go to Charleston
sounds like a great little get a way to me!
Also, I seen your package arrived. Sorry it came so early. I sent out 4 packages 2 late and maybe one close to being on time and yours which was early, but hey I guess that is better than late! I seen those little owls on pinterest too and thought I had to make some, so why not make some and share them. I made Avery a few as well. I stayed up one night when everyone went to bed and got crafty sewing. I love to sew, but like all my crafting right now it is hard to make to time, so I just stayed up late one night. I totally forgot to take pictures of them, but oh well, I thought they were cute!
Well, need to go start dinner here or at least figure it out. Morgan will be calling any minute to come and pick her up from speech.... so I best head that way!
Ninay, I promise I will post the pictures of the gifts once she gets them all. Since she is on pinterest, sb.com, fb....etc I'll have to wait. She's sneaky like that...lol The t-shirt refashion I did for her wasn't the vest one. She wanted me to make a braided necklace with rosettes. It turned out pretty well. I also made the headbands out of left over fabric from other projects. Right now I am working on one last project. She made a comment the other day about being so in love with sea glass. So I had some sea glass left from a project I made her at Christmas. I am just hot gluing some onto a old cheap frame I painted white. Then THAT'S IT, I'm not making anymore for her. I don't care what cute thing she pins on pinterest......LOL
If you want I can take a picture of the most adorable owl you sent me so you can have one for your records.
Minday, that is so cool... love it... that is the one you made right? very cool. I will have to go by and take a look in the album.
Things are still crazy over here.. Eric's step mom got out of the nursing home and then she fell again and so we are taking turns going over and sitting with her. I just don't think she will ever be without her walker again, I think that is just hard for her to come to terms with. Also, our dog Millie had to have her eye removed. That happened about 2 weeks ago. I came home from a meeting and I truly thought she was dying. I had to call the emergency and they called her in some meds for pain and then I took her to the specialist the next morning and after that appointment I took her to my brother's vet who is a friend of his and she did the surgery a lot cheaper for me and she removed the eye. It was quite the tramatic day for me and Millie. She came through the surgery good, but they found a tumor behind the eye which most likely is what caused the detached retina. The results from the tumor were benign which we were delighted, I just found that out on Monday. I take her tomorrow to get her stitches removed and she gets to take the "cone of shame" off... I hope... she will be delighted to have that gone and so will I. She had to wear that as not to scratch her stitches out. I was at show choir competitions all day last Sat. and Morgan is going to sections with her duo for speech this weekend; which will be an all day thing as well. This week is Cat In The Hat week at school and Friday I am going in helping make Green Eggs and Ham to eat... Yep I am ready for summer!
Today was a beautiful day in Indy, 69 & sunny, very windy though, but I am not complaining. I always hate going to bed any more when they say bad storms are coming through... they really did some damage to the places they hit.... I don't want to be in bed if something like that hits.... kwim?
Life is still about the same here, I am hoping my mom is coming over next Thursday and we are going to craft. She likes to make cards so we will most likely be making Easter cards.
Well, just wanted to stop by and check in while I am sitting here watching American Idol. So far I like the men so much better... they really rocked it out on Tuesday... the women so far... so..so.. Nothing has had the wow factor yet for me from them, but there is still another hour. OK... think I will get Avery to bed and then grab a glass of wine and relax then hit the bed.
Yeap Ninay, that's the one I made. I took that picture of it on me before I mailed it out to her with all her other handmade gifts. We made each other all handmade gifts this year. Kinda fun. I've gotten a few more jewelry sets (necklace, earrings, bracelet & ring) made this week, a memory box for a cousin, and a few LOs. I'm kinda getting used to this quiet crafty time at night.
So sorry to hear about Millie and her eye. I am glad that it was benign though. How old is Millie?
Wow it has been forever since I logged in here. Crazy!
Lynn, Sorry to hear that you are still dealing with so much pain. Good to hear from you though! I'll have to stop by your blog sometime and check out your creations. I'm glad you are finding time to be crafty!
I just thought I'd hop on here to look for some inspiration. Mindy and I are scrapbooking together tomorrow in Columbus and going to the expo there. I am excited! I am so behind I'm hoping to get a lot done. So that means getting my butt organized and not dilly dallying around too much on facebook and pinterest. I can sure get sucked in.
I'll post my pages from tom0rrow sometime soon. Hugs to all!
