Being new to this,How do you use brads? Do you punch a hole with a hole puncher or with the brad? Help.

generally, you punch a hole with a hole punch of some sort (I use my crop a dile big bite because it can reach anywhere on a 12x12 paper) and then put the brad into the hole,,,

there are other tools that make holes though, and any of them would do,,,,

or you can even cut a tiny slit in the paper with a craft knife and put the brad through that,,,,

but I wouldnt punch the hole through with the brad itself, it might rumple the paper,,,brads aren't really sharp enough to punch a good hole neatly.

Hope that helped

The Big Bite is wonderful. I have had it for almost a year and just started using it this week. What was I waiting for? I don't even know.

I use the Making Memories paper piercer my husband bought me as a stocking stuffer a few years ago. If I'm pre-punching holes through ribbon, or through a small item in a situation where the brad won't be going through the page, I use my Fiskars 1/16" hole punch.

I use my Crop A Dile Big Bite and I LOVE it! You can punch anywhere on the page with it. I love using brads even though they aren't the newest trend!

not the most orthodox way of doing it, but I use a safety pin to poke a hole in my paper, the brad slides in without wrinkling the paper. Or I don't bother putting the brad through the background at all and just put it on the flower and adhere the whole darned thing with adhesive!

There are a lot of cool tools out there. Since you have the big bite, you are good. I have the smaller Crop a dile. You can use this as well though...

All of the ladies thus far have given all of the suggestions I had for ya! I generally use a hole punch, Big Bite, or paper piercer most of the time.
