I would love to ride in a cable car, the hotel sounds lovely, so do the museums and cathedral, I went to Melbourne a few years ago and the church's and cathedrals were amazing

WTH did I do wrong. I made a devil's food cake for B's actual bday tomorrow. Just took them out of the oven and they are completely concave - fell big time. Never in my life have I had a cake fall. Going to be a late night, out of eggs so have to run to the store, might just buy a box mix and make life easier. Geesh.

I checked the ingredients and I didn't forget anything. I did open the oven after 30 min b/c the instructions said bake for 30-35 min. At 30 they were still about 8-10 min from being done, didn't poke them at that point as I could tell by looking. Wondering if opening the oven did it. Never has before but this is devil's food so maybe that's it. Heading to the store BBL

I'm thinking it could be around $50 or more. I could handle $50 but not sure if I'm willing to pay more, maybe $60. Although I am getting a decent fee from her so it would be nice to give her business too. I have a meeting with her tomorrow so maybe I'll see what she says. It would certainly make my life simpler and right now I'm all for simpler.

Since you are getting business from her I think it would be nice to give her some. I bet she would do a wonderful job, even extra special since you will be working together. Go for it.

I doubt that opening the oven would have done it. Date of baking powder?

Oz, it will be fun and relaxing I think.
I did just see the National Catherdral in Washington DC and it was stunning. This is a much older one and has lots of stained glass.

These are things I have been interested in for years but when we go with others they really like to see the tourist stuff. Been there too many times and done and redone tourist stuff. So it will be good.

Happy birthday, B!!!

Good morning, Owls.

Joy, the office turned out better than we could have imagined! Husband has been busy decorating it. I told him he could do whatever he wanted in there because I did all of the other rooms in the house. This room is sort of also his man cave, even though it's the first room that we walk into in the back of the house.
His idea of decorating? Buffalo Sabres light switch cover, Sabres wall hanging, a black and white photo of Albert Einstein, and soon: shelves up high for Transformer toys.

Working today at the LSS but not a lot going on after that.

Good morning Owls!!

Happy Birthday, B! Sorry about the problems with the birthday cake, Val.

Enjoy your day @ the LSS, Catie!

yea for another fun trip, Gigi! I've never been to San Fran. I think the farthest north was Morro Bay?!

I'm hoping to get some digi pages done today.

Have a great day!

Catie the office sounds wonderful, he must be thrilled to be able to decorate how he wants. hehehe I would love to see a pic of the room if you get a chance to post one.

Good morning ladies.

Ughhhh dragging my buns here at work I hate Mondays and especially when it's my long week. Oh well LGO (right Val )

Val Happy Birthday to your B!! And my vote is to have your client make her cake. I agree w/Gigi, it would be nice to give some business back to her.

Gigi, woohoo sounds like fun. I'm w/you..I love to visit SF and NOT go to the 'touristy' stuff. I really really want to visit the Walt Disney Muesum there and I forget but I believe they are doing something special these next couple of months there. I really need to find out!!! With my son living there, he has taken us to some 'interesting' places, LOL.

ok gotta cut this short and get to working..I started this post over an hour ago, lol

I am here. I might actually get something done around here if I didn't have to deal with so much Mama Drama. Her caregiver didn't show up today so she has been laying in bed since last night. I finally JUST got hold of Haven and she is on her way. Her van broke down while she was in Wisconsin over the weekend and she was almost home. I am waiting for a social worker to call me with a number to get some extra help in until we can get Mom in a home. Hopefully some beds will open up next week where we want her to go. They are opening up a new wing then and I think she will like it there. It's out by where the farm was and I am hoping she might know some people there. I started a post at 10 this morning and it's 1:30 now. I have been on the phone all day between making sure Mom is ok by herself, my brother and trying to arrange for her care. This sucks. If I thought I would be able to make the trip myself I would go back in a heartbeat right now and take care of all this myself!!

Hi Pam. That's crazy that her caregiver hasn't shown. Do they call someone to let them know? Don't they have someone cover if they can't show? You would think that SOMEONE needs to go check in on her. So sorry you are having to deal w/all this long distance...i'm sure it makes it 10x's harder. Putting her in a home in a part of town she might know people sounds like a good plan. Hopefully she will not fuss about going and make the best of it.

Actually her not showing up or calling anyone is considered abuse of the elderly. My DD told me that. Even working in a nursing home, if they don't show up or make arrangements for someone to cover their shift, they can lose their license and be charged with it. I am not happy with this girl and haven't been for a while now. Hopefully we will only need her for another week or so. Mom likes her and she does take good care of her when she is there, but things like today just pi$$ me off to no end. I know my mother is laying in bed soaked to the eyeballs and can't change herself. Plus Dean said all she had was a jug of ice water and she wanted some chips to munch on when he left last night so all she has had today is stale water and some chips to eat. That girl is SO lucky I am not there right now. She would be out the door and lose her license to boot. Dean keeps telling me to calm down but I am not a happy person right now. Mom says she is fine but I know how it is.
