Yeah...that's one train I don't think I'll be jumping on to ride. I don't really get this new fad/"rage". Another one I love will come around soon enough. I loved the tree and owl/bird fads while other people hated those. I guess it's my turn to sit back and watch this time, LOL.

Ahh...flowers. That's one more fad that I love. Unfortunately, I also love to shop for them and have WAY too many. I told myself that I can't buy any more until I use up the ones I've got!

I'm glad there's a Paris rage... I need to scrap my Paris photos..
Next up, I would like to request a London fad, please.

I think the fads tend to go with most decor fads, trends, etc... Like I found that the little birdies got popular as twitter got popular. Unless I am overthinking this, I think there is a connection. Same with events, everyone wants certain things that are the trends in other parts of life....

Its hard for me to incorporate a fad into my scrapbooking, no matter what the fad is, if it doesn't fit the theme of my pics. The only way I would want paris stuff in my LOs, is if I was scrapping Paris photos. I liked the owls/birds, but unless I was scrapping outside photos, they didn't seem to go with my design.
Guess I'm just weird.

I scrapped my trip to Paris and Italy before the Paris thing became all the rage but I was able to find these cute stickers for my Italy page. I like them because they are muted and not cartoon-like. Here are the layouts I made using them:

add me to that list!! I use some flowers but not overpowering, I use some bling but no to much, I use some distressing on guy pages, but not every piece on the page......I let the photos guide my color choices and embellishments! Guess that is why I've never been chosen for a design team or featured much....my layouts won't sell a whole lot of anything

This is one time I'm glad I procrastinated. I'm still working on my Paris photos from 2008. I couldn't find much cool stuff then, but NOW, wow!
Maybe if you wait a few years, Italy will be the rage!

I Need to do one layout about the Paris hotel and casino in Vegas. I don't need bread and wine embellishments. All I wanted was an Eiffel tower. I finally found a piece of paper at m's that was on sale 4 for $1. I wish they would have a Germany fad!

I love the owl thing! I'm not a fad follower though. If I like it I use it, simple.

I'm the same way....I use what I like. I can't seem to put birds and owls on a page that has something to do with my kids eating a sucker for example. I did just use a bird sitting on a branch for a picture of me and my sister but we are outside. I love the flower fad. Especially since I've really started getting into making my own. The past 3 pages that I've done have been out of my style of scrapping normally but I'm trying my hand at new stuff and I'm finding that I'm liking it. Oh well. I don't jump on EVERY band wagon at least.

Agreed. I make good pages, which is all that matters, and the people who look at them don't know or care what the trends and fads are - and neither will anyone's kids and grandkids. I like relevance and some realism in my embellishments, not just pretty stuff for the sake of being pretty.

by the time I get around to using some of the trendy things I might buy, the trend is over. Most of my LOs are pretty simple, focusing on what is going on in the pics with journaling and a few die cuts for enhancement. I do like the flower trend, however...when I am at a creative loss as to what to do with a page, I will plop a flower on it and call it done. it is an easy cop out, for me.

I don't know why or what it is, but I actually have a strange attraction to most things with the Eiffel Tower (especially black & white photos!)
As for any possible Italian 'fads', I lived in Italy years ago & have still yet to scrap those pics! With that said, hopefully, it will come soon enough!

For both Italy (& France), I especially love the Renaissance Faire Collecion by Graphic 45.
Some possible inspiration...

Me too. I think "Eiffie" represents the romantic and chic place many dream of visiting. I did an entire book on Paris (50 pages) and could have done 3 times that with all of the photos I took. I think that the tower looks very whimsical and romantic and that is why many people put it on their pages.

I tend to look for embellishments in the countries while I am traveling. Everyplace is unique, but Paris will always be my favorite.

Here's a couple of links for lots of travel stuff. I purchased from both of them when I got back from my CTMH Mediterranean Cruise.

My cruisin' buddy also found lots of great papers on Ebay. We got some for London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona and Pisa. Some were the newer glitter papers. Fun!

I love flowers, bling and distressing, but I liked them before they really became a fad. Most of the fads I don't really see the point in unless you can tie it to your LO somehow.

I am EXACTLY the same way. I really REALLY prefer to have my embellishments pertain to my photos WHEN possible.

Okay, I must admit, I have a what can only be described as a flower addiction ... I adore them even on boy pages. I've tried to cut back, but I'm amazed when people say they have tons of flowers in their stash ... I tend to use mine as soon as I get them.
I haven't really gotten into the Paris fad, and was never a fan of the whole owl thing, but I do love the whole distressed look.
Guess I'm a sucker for a fad ...
