Heather, stopped to pray for your co-worker. How scary for her! I'm praying the doctors will have wisdom in knowing how to care for her and that the Great Physician will intervene on her behalf.
Please keep us posted!
Thank you for your encouraging words about my eye. Is tinitis ringing in the ears??? I can't imagine how annoying that is!
I'm boiling potatoes and eggs for potato salad. Our family LOVES my mom's very plain potato salad and it's somehow fallen to me to make it for every single occasion! The "grandkids" say mine is pretty close to being "Grandma's" in taste, so as long as they want it, I'll keep making it for them.

Yes Karen, tinitus is ringing in the ears. I think it is from a med the dr put me on, but they say no. It's listed as a side effect, and that's when it started. And the med never even did what it was supposed to. Go figure. And while they refer to it as ringing, mine is more like static-y noise. So I never, ever, hear complete silence.
Thanks for praying for my coworker. I'm hoping to get updates over the weekend and will keep you posted.

Good morning!
I don't know how to make potato salad...GASP! LOL I hate cooking and I hate being in the kitchen, so I just tend to do the bare necessities!
I don't have any plans for the 4th. My step-son is at his mom's for the month, my DD is at my mom's and not sure when she is planning on coming home. My DH works thirds and is a correctional officer, so he will have to work (they don't get holidays off), and I'll probably be putting DS (almost 3) to bed at his normal 8 pm bedtime.

Morning all! Another nice and sunny day here. I feel guilty, as I didn't get up until 8 this morning. Planning on taking ds to get his hair cut today, and maybe a little shopping. Might stop by Hobby Lobby to see what they have that looks like I might need. lol
Have a great day all!

I've worked hard today since about 9 this morn. We just had a 30X40 shop put up for DH and we are trying to get the sewer and water lines run. Of course, we are doing it ourselves, so I've been working right alongside him digging a trench about 2 ft deep and 45 feet long. It is hot and sunny outside! He is filling it in now with the tractor, so I came in to rest a bit. I'm not used to this hard labor like him!
LOL Karen @ 3rd prize potato salad! I wonder who he thought would've gotten 1st and 2nd! I love to be around people who can make me laugh though! That's great that you can carry on a tradition like that!
I have a J's and HL about 35 min away and just found out we have a scrapbook store about 25 min away, but haven't been in that yet. Usually they are higher, and I won't pay higher prices. I would love to have an M's close by, I have to drive about 1 1/2 hours to go to one, so when I am close to one, I do love to go!
I put a Prima trellis rose tutorial on my blog today if anyone is interested in learning how to make them. There are pics in my gallery if you want to see.
Tonight, DH has invited 2 friends over and rented the fight, so not sure how quiet it will be.
I guess his job could get high risk, those prisoners aren't always the best behaved, but he's not in danger often. He usually comes home bummed out when he misses out on a fight...lol...but I'm always thankful! The one thing I hate about his prison is that it is the pedophiler prison...I mean...there are other prisoners there too...but they got all the pedophilers in the state and they have their own house, b/c they can't be mixed with the general population. He doesn't care for his job, its not what he wants to do, but for our area, its one of the best jobs for supporting a family!
Whew...sorry for the long post! I sure hope you all don't mind!

Ok, maybe I'll be the odd ball here, but I don't like potato salad. Don't like cole slaw either. And the only egg salad I like is my own. Made with just the eggs and Miracle Whip. But I do love the "3rd place" story, that is too cute!
While we do have HL and Mike's, they are about a half hour drive. But to get to anything it's about that. Our little town has dwindled down to not much at all. I much prefer HL than Mike's too. I don't like being in Mike's at all around Halloween either. Our HL is only a few years old, so nice and clean. Our fav sb store is about 45 minutes away, and it is awesome! Considering how Mike's has raised their paper prices, the sb store isn't any more expensive. And we love the ladies that work there. They are so nice. And I never did make it to HL today! Too hot to keep getting in and out of the vehicle, and I just wanted to get back home.
Got my son's hair cut done, so he's happy. And I took him to the bank this morning so he could cash his very first paycheck! Took pics of him holding in when he got it in the mail, and I have written down his comments about working the first week, and it will make for some neat journaling. Not sure of our plans tonight, other than I really want to go see the fireworks. Cookout is off at this point, as my sister's bf isn't being very nice.
Stephanie, will keep your dh in my thoughts and prayers. The town I work in has a prison, and I am always hearing bad stories about it. These days it's hard to say no to a decent paying job too. I do want to check out your trellis tutorial, it sounds interesting!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I'm leaving on the 8th. I just checked the weather forecast for Winnipeg on The Weather Network and it's going to be HOT! My mom suggested that I take a hat with me to keep the sun off my head (the wedding is an outdoor wedding). I have a really nice pink hat that I wear to Red Hat events with my mom (I'm an official "Pink Hatter" in our local chapter - I can't be a Red Hatter b/c I'm too young). It will go nicely with my dress. Thanks for your prayers for safe travel for my brother and I - there is so much flooding going on in Saskatchewan and Manitoba we're not sure what route we're going to take to get Winnipeg.

Happy 4th of July everyone! Being Canadian we had our national celebration on Thursday. I went to see the fireworks in Edmonton with a very nice guy that I met on a Christian dating site; it was the first time we'd met (we've just emailed each other until now). We met for coffee first and then walked to the legislature grounds to see the fireworks. They were amazing! Hope you all have a great 4th!

OK Karen...we can talk long long posts if they start complaining about us! LOL I love to talk...too bad I don't have anyone in real life to talk to. I still talk...they just tune me out!
I'm watching the fight with DH tonight, none of his friends are coming and I feel bad for him, so I told him I would watch with him, but probably work on my flowers too, he said that was fine...he just likes to have me close!
We didn't put the shop (garage) up ourselves and we're not pouring the concrete ourselves, but we are doing everything else. Where we live, we have this really old blue house that sits in front of our house, its not fit for anything, so as soon as the shop is finished and we can clean out the old house, we will be tearing it down ourselves too, but my dad did say he would help.
DH likes to do taxidermy on the side, he is going to cut down this year on the amount of orders he will take, but it'll be nice not having that mess in my kitchen and dining room.
Karen, I will have to go back and read about your mom and see what is going on. I hate to hear it that your dad has lost interest in woodworking. My dad has a shop full of stuff like that too, him and my mom used to have a woodworking business, but they decided to stop when they just didn't have the time, but he kept all his tools in case he got back into it again after he retired! Its really great though, b/c a couple of weeks ago I texted him a website and asked him to make me an ink holder, and he did within a day! I love being surrounded by guys that can really do whatever needs to be done!
Whew...another long post!
Heather, I like my mom's potato salad, but I hate coleslaw and egg salad. Your not totally alone.

Lissa, that is one of the songs we sing for Praise Music at church! Love that song!
Ended up going to the cookout anyway, and I just stuck with my sister and had a good time. The weather was not as hot as I was expecting, and it was so nice out. When it got time for the fireworks we moved our chairs back to the grassy area closer and I snapped lots of pics. Haven't looked at them yet, so don't know if I got many decent ones. They are so hard, at least for me, with my little point and shoot. My sister was freaking out tho, when I pointed out the birds flying overhead were not birds but bats. So now between all the smoke from the grill, being in the freshly cut grass and then the smoke bombs being set off, my allergies are awful this morning. Can't take much for them tho, due to high blood pressure plus meds I'm on. So I just have to suffer. Hope it goes away soon and doesn't turn into sinus infection and a trip to the dr.
Yes, that is sad that you dad has lost interest in woodworking Karen! My grandfather used to make a few pieces of furniture for their house and they were just beautiful. My uncle lives in their house, since my grandparents passed away almost 20 years ago, and the furniture is still there. A long time ago my mom gave him a pattern for a wooden box and he made 12 of them, every one out of a different kind of wood. He kept 11 of them, and gave one to her. After my parents divorced, she gave it to me. I still have it, and have made an engraved plate to go on it. Such a treasured keepsake!
Jen, will pray for traveling mercies for you, and hope you don't get caught up in any of the flooding.
Well, as you can tell I do wordy posts too! I don't mind long posts, so don't worry about me. lol Hope you are all having a blessed weekend!

Good morning!
I love that song Lissa! I have a christian music station I always listen to in my vehicle, and it's really uplifting to hear the godly music any time I drive! That is a great song!
Don't know what I'm doing today, except I would really love to scrap a page!
Heather...I hate to hear that about your sinuses...I know those are just awful to deal with! I'll keep you in my prayers.

Good morning! I plan on visiting some new stores in our area. One is an LSS and another just a craft store. I may also take a trip to HL and J's...but can't spend a lot.
I have a question for you ladies. I am wanting to visit this new church, but I have no idea what time it starts. There is no sign out front other than the name that tells the hours, there is no yellow pages ad, and everytime I call it just rings and rings, so no answering machine or office person. Any ideas on how to find out what time this church starts?
