I just finished reading The Maze Runner - which is a little like THe Hunger Games. However, I did not really care for it.
Now I'm moving on to Harlen Coben's new book "Stay Close".

Maze Runner is on my list to read. I think it's a trilogy also.

I tried to post in here last night, but our power went out as I was typing!
Anyway. I'm new here - looks like I registered several years ago and never posted anything. LOL! Looking for a new scrappy home to make friends and inspire me to get back to scrapping after 3 almost 4 years.
One of my other loves and hobbies is reading, so I was tickled to see this thread! I enjoy mysteries, classics, fantasy, some sci-fi (but I'm picky), Christian fic and non-fic, and read quite a bit of YA with and to the kids (we homeschool).
I have a goal to read 52 books this year, that's a book a week! But I'm behind. Didn't get anything read in April at all I don't think. I have 5 kids including twin toddlers so I guess I'm excused and maybe I'll get at least halfway to my goal. That's a great mini-goal I guess? LOL
Anyway. Glad to be here! Can't wait to get to know you and thanks for having me!
Welcome!!

Wasn't able to finish the book I was reading because we were so busy on vacation. I have to recheck it out from library.

Ok, Calling Invisible Women was written by Jeanne Ray. It will be on the stands on May 22, 2012. It is a fun book.

So I'm not sure how I haven't found this post before, I love reading and always have a massive stack of books, both actual books and on my kindle, waiting to be read. I just finished 'The Hangman's Daughter' by Oliver Potzsch and am now starting on the second book in the Fifty Shades series.
I am always looking for a new book to pick up and this looks like the perfect place to gather suggestions!

Free murder mystery involving a scrapbook crop at pixelofink.com called "Cut, Crop & Die." I am so getting that one.
I believe this is a series. I think there are 3 of them. I have read them and they are cute. Another good scrapbooking mystery series is the one by Laura Childs.
This is not one of the Laura Childs book...this author is Joanna Campbell Slan and it is a series...this is actually book 2.
I've read the Laura Childs books and this title didn't ring a bell - so I did some research. AND now I have another book series to read. Thank you for peeking my interest....I'm off to the library website to request these books.
Oh its called the Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery Series

Cut Crop & Die is the first in the series I think. There are 5 of them, I just ordered all 5. Seems only 1 was available on Kindle so I downloaded it and bought the paperbacks of the other 4 from Amazon.
Correcting myself - the first is "Paper, scissors, Death" which she published in 2008. Then "Cut, Crop & Die" in 2009 and another in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

I am making progress on the Girl that Kicked the Hornets’ Nest (last in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy). I am still struggling with the magnitude of characters. It seems like every other paragraph, the author continues to add more & more people. Because it is a mystery (for the most part) I am keeping track because I can’t tell who is important and who is not.
If reading this book were a drinking game, and I had to take a shot for every new name, I would be DRUNK after every chapter!

Does anyone have any favorites that lend themselves to a good discussion for a Book Club? Members take turns picking but we're always looking for some good reads. Thanks for your suggestions!

I have done a couple searches on Amazon and goodreads.com for titles of popular book club books that I might be interested in. The ones that come to mind, but I have not read them, are Water for Elephants, the Help, and something with potato in the title...The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

I had heard this was a hard series to read. I didn't attempt it. I did see the movie and liked it. That is funny about the drinking game!

I just got a email that my book is ready from library for NOOK. I will download that tonight and hopefully finish the book this time. I haven't read in a couple of weeks. I'm so behind this year!

My book club just read 'The Keep' by Jennifer Egan. It wasn't the first time I have read it but it has some great discussion points.

Yes there are 5 of these. I read the first 3 a couple of years ago so I was excited that there are two more. They are very good. I just downloaded the 4th one to my nook and started reading it last night.
I think some people misunderstood my other post. I didn't mean that Laura Childs wroe this series - I was trying to say that another good series of scrapbook mysteries is writen by Laura Childs. Sorry for any confusion!!

I just found this forum and I'd like to join if I may. I love to read and do so a lot. I noticed some of you were talking about the Hunger Games and Maze Runner. I've read both of those series. I'm a middle school teacher so have read many teenage novels. Another series that I like are the Uglies series. Like Hunger Games and Maze Runner, they are based on a utopian society. Nice reads. For adult books, I read mostly mysteries. I think I want to check out the books by Joanna Campbell. They sound fun.

Have you seen the Hunger Games movie? What did you think of the adaptation?
