Distressed in JanFebruary
Yep my spelling is bad but I meant that spelling error. Due to a hectic end of the month for me I've decide to host this challenge from mid-month to mid-month. Since I said I'd be back in January I thought I better start the challenge now but it open until !!!FEBRUARY 15!!!. This gives you plenty of time get distressed and you may need it if you want to do the optional twist for this month

Once again let’s get distressed. Any new information will be in red.

This is a month long challenge to show off your distressed layouts. Share as many as you like (as long as they have some distressing), but pick one for the challenge. Be sure to note if it's for the challenge or for sharing because I plan to stream line the front page with both.

~~One Catch you must check in at least twice to be in for the poll, and you must try to leave comments on others (if you get love, give love-live like hippies). I will link your lo to the first page.

~~This Month's Twist (optional)~~ Complete the steps in the next post- and they don't even HAVE to be done in the order I suggest. Or you can play along in the progressive marathon I have planned Sat Jan 29 and Sun Jan 30 for a twist credit and extra vote

THE RULES:
*Your lo has to be new as of Dec 30th, of this year it can be used for other challenges.
**Upload your lo here by FEB. 15th SB.com time

****It is your responsibly to make sure your lo is on the first page for voting
*****Single or double page LO's are fine. Paper or Digi. Any size is allowed too!
******When the challenge has been closed, you can pm me your top ***FIVE****layouts.
*******Don’t vote for yourself as you will get a vote from me for sending in your votes.
********Share the love

For the twist follow these steps in any order. I think you will find you do most of these steps regardless. Here's the step you can work from for the twist:
Here's the step you can work from

STEP ONE: select a sketch that has ONE/TWO/THREE or more pictures that you will use for today’s challenge and paste it into a reply for this challenge. If you load a sketch without the correct amount of picture placements, be sure to note how you plan to alter the sketch to meet the picture requirement.
LINKING LAYOUTS TO THE THREAD:
1. Go to the layout in your gallery.
2. Click on 'Link/Share' tab under the layout.
3. Click on 'IMG code' button.
4. Copy and paste the code which starts [url...] into the forum thread.

----orrrrrr----
STEP ONE: select a page you want to scraplift with ONE/TWO/THREE or more. Add the URL to the post so we know which layout you will lift. If you post a scraplift without the correct amount of pictures, be sure to note how you plan to alter the lift to meet the picture requirement.
-----or------
STEP ONE: select a sketch with ONE/TWO/THREE or more. Add the URL or a picture to the post so we know which layout you will lift. If you post a sketch without the correct amount of pictures, be sure to note how you plan to alter the sketch to meet the picture requirement. A great site to get sketches is: http://pagemaps.com/
------or------
STEP ONE: you must view the gallery of the person listed last or before you on page one under the reply called PLAYERS and select a page from their gallery that you will scraplift .

STEP TWO - gather your papers that you will use today paper do any ONE of the following to these papers
A) do a mask [lightly ink or paint- I suggest using some spray on product- so it will dry quickly --
B) apply more than one stamp {hummm where is the trick ‘cause what will happen next!!!]\}
C) water distress in this style- Water Distress
D) moisten the edges and curl a side up
E) add stickles or glitter to the entire page, the edges, or select parts of the patterns
F) distress an area by hold punching and inking a patch
G) burn the edges or use soot colored ink
H) tear the edges
I) crumble, wad, and then unfold and straighten
J) place a textured item under the paper and sand over the paper so that texture shows through. How to blog: http://forscrappingoutlou d.blogspot.com/2009/09/sand-pa...
K) use ink, paint or even a marker to make your own polka dots if you use ink or paint share with the group what strange object you used to make the uniform pock-a-dots (I use bingo markers, bubble wrap, pencil tops)
L) created a ruffled edge by following GabriellaP's tutorial-
ruffled edge
M) more than 6 pattern papers

Helpful links:
Homemade glimmer mist
Homemade alcohol ink
.

STEP THREE- - select one of your pictures and do any ONEOR MORE to the picture or mat
A) Crop at least one to a shape other than the original
B) Double mat at least one distress the edges
C) distress the edges of one by rough them with scissors, filing, sanding
D) single mat at least one
E) Crop at least one to a shape a circle or heart shape

J) do pleating around the picture- http://www.scrapbookcircle.com/2010/01/faux-paper-pl eat... or here http://bootscraps.blogspot.com/2010/02/making-ruffle d-p...

The economy is tough so make your own embellishments! Make at least 2 handmade embellies, but they cannot be a flower! You can make flowers for the LO, but the 2 embellies for this step cannot be flowers. (think pinwheel; tag; slides; paper piecing; anything but flowers.

-------or--------

Step four:
Banners are now all the craze. You will need to take the time to MAKE a banner for your page. Sorry no store bough banners welcome. You can use the blank chipboard triangles (I've also seen people use the round tags)for the banner, but it must otherwise be from scratch. One other requirement your banner must have at least FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT triangles.

-------or--------

Step four-
Check out this collection of new techniques and find something to try on your page.

Plus if you follow these steps the layout meets the qualifications for my progressive warm up challenge. I will be giving away a random RAK winner for the progressive challenge and the winner could come from that challenge. Here's a link so you cna play in both spots:

http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?fid/18/ti...

But most importantly you meet this month's twist and get the extra vote.

I'm in this month. That twist is big and scary looking, but I think once I get down to it I will be able to do it.

Trust me it only LOOKS intimidating because there are so many options that almost no matter what you do it fits into the steps.
