December Newsletter 2011
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

December 10th- Welcome to our 11th Annual December Holiday Crop. The theme this year is FAVORITE THINGS! We will have our very loved “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree with our handmade tree skirt, wreath, ornaments, our traditional dinner, prizes, and most of all holiday crop time with our Sunshine sisters.

Our “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree has ornaments representing our Sunshine Scrappers family. Some ornaments are store bought and some are handmade. Feel free to make an ornament for our Christmas tree and bring it in December. It’s a Sunshine Scrappers annual tradition.
*The doors open at noon no earlier. The SS Village would like the room to be festive when you all arrive-it’s Christmas after all *Closing at 11:00p.

**December Crop Fee- as with every December crop your crop fee ($6) will be donated to the church as a thank you for allowing us to crop each month. If you would like to donate more then please do. St. Alban’s would make sure it was used in a positive way. We enjoy giving back to our community. December 2010 we donated $300.00 and Father Ralph was so thankful. *The big crop room cost $185 to rent-they are only charging us $75.00-thank you St. Alban’s!!

****Please read all...we have a lot of things planned-don’t miss out on how YOU can win a prize.

THE FUN!!!
Please dress festive, (wear your favorite Sunshine Scrapper logo shirt), santa hat, socks, etc. Show your Christmas/Holiday spirit the Sunshine Scrappers way-there will be a PRIZE for MOST spirited!!!

Best Decorated Brown large paper bag PRIZE-see below Gift Exchange...

We’ll also take a group photo after dinner. So look cute… LOL It’s another Sunshine Scrapper tradition!

***It’s our biggest prize giveaway ever! $100.00 (10 yrs. + another 0= 100) in honor of our 10 years together. It’s a SUPER,BIG PRIZE! It’s special and you’ll have to come to the crop to see if YOU win. It maybe YOU!!! You MUST be present to win. We will pull the name before or after dinner. So how do I enter?
You might have earned a ticket (throughout the year) to be placed in a bucket to be pulled for a prize. Your name will automatically be added if you: 1) came to 10 or more SS Crops, 2) if you are a SS vet (5 or more yrs. with SS-we are still in our 10th yr.), 3) if you donated an item to SS-like pot holders, 4) if you stayed to help clean over and above, 5) if you signed up for the Dec. crop early AND added what you are bringing for our dinner, 6) IF YOU WEAR YOUR SS SHIRT TO THE CROP.... if you are wearing a SS shirt at the crop make sure you see me (Stacey) so I add your name/ticket to the bucket. Thank YOU for your support each month. :-)

Gift Exchange (Favorite Things)....
THIS OF COURSE IS OPTIONAL!!

Gift Exchange RULES: (exchange will take place after dinner) *A few CHANGES to make it go a bit faster*
WHAT: Please place your scrapbooking/stamping/cra fting gift under $15.00 in a BROWN PAPER GROCERY BAG.
Please add your name (FROM: xxxx) **in the bag** so the receiver knows who the gift came from. Remember the theme is "FAVORITE THINGS"-maybe your gift can be one of YOUR favorite things THEN tell us "why" when you sign FROM: xxx. We thought it would be fun to see WHO the item(s) are from, and hear WHY its your “FAVORITE THING”.
Decorate the “brown large grocery paper bag”. Their will be a PRIZE for best wrapped/decorated paper bag. When you arrive at the crop please place your gift under the Christmas Tree. See photos of past bags under PHOTOS-left of the screen for ideas.
WHEN & HOW: After dinner we will gather our chairs to sit around the Christmas Tree for the exchange. We will go by “PODS”. Each pod will be assigned a random #-and your table will be marked with your # so remember what pod # is yours. I will pull a pod # out of a basket. When we call your pod number each person in your pod will pick a gift from under the Christmas tree. Then sit in one of the 8 chairs in front of the Christmas tree (8 people per pod).
TADA! You will open your gift for all to see and you can read your “WHY” it was FROM: XXX as their “favorite thing”. After everyone has opened their gift you can then exchange your gift with someone in the room. Otherwise, we will be exchanging for hours.
Don’t forget to use those coupons, gift cards and cash work just as well.

Janet’s Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange:
We have an annual Christmas cookie exchange every year. It isn't
mandatory for you to participate but it's always fun for those who do.

Here are the guidelines:

1. Sign up under "Database". Include your name and what kind of cookie
you are making. The cut off date to sign up is December 5th.

2. Make one dozen cookies per person signed up. So if there are 15
people signed up, make 15 dozen cookies. Include yourself in the
count. It makes it sooooo much easier to redistribute the cookies.

3. Place each dozen cookies in either a zip lock bag or a cello bag
you can get at Mikes or Joann’s (they are in the cake decorating
section).

4. Attach the recipe to each bag and don't forget to include your name.

5. Bring them to the crop in a large container so you will have
something to carry all your goodies home in.

6. Please, only home baked cookies.

We will have a table reserved for the cookie exchange. You will will be entered in a special drawing for participating. Happy baking!

Janet

****HELP! PLEASE READ!!*****
Before you leave the crop can you please help us out by cleaning your area/table? Empty your trash bowl and pick up any paper, scraps, food, take down decorations etc. Please DO NOT fold your chairs or tables. When we are in GRUNDORF HALL (big room) we just move the tables and chairs back where we found them. THIS IS A BIG CROP AND COULD USE A LOT OF EXTRA HELP-ESPECIALLY WITH TRASH! Remember ALL of US volunteer our time.

FOOD & DINNER: PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP under DATABASE-for the December Crop food item you are bringing by 12/5 (Monday). Here is a list of traditional food items we need for our dinner. Dinner is at 5:30p-ish. We’ve asked Father Ralph and his wife to join us and bless the food before dinner-Thank you Father Ralph!

WHAT’S ON THE MENU? We have found that having a
designated menu helps us have a balanced dinner. So when you sign
up, choose something from this list FIRST. Once the list is filled,
you can bring something of your choosing. *This traditional dinner has always worked beautifully each year if we follow the list and make sure all the basis are covered. Thank you for your help.
**Please try to bring your dish in something disposable; it helps so much with clean up.

OVERNIGHT Place to Stay?:
~Need a place to stay if you are traveling a distance for the April
Crop? Here's the perfect place and it's cheaper than a tank of gas. It's safe,
clean and quiet.

We have our annual retreat at Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center (1601
Alafaya Trail (SR 434) Oviedo, FL 32765...which is located in Oviedo not far
from St. Alban's. We've been here for 7 years. They offer overnight stays
(called personal retreats) that are reasonable. To see pictures of the rooms go
to PHOTOS and click on Canterbury Retreat.

The info/brochure I have says $55.00 per night. Double occupancy-two beds-one twin and
one queen. Private FULL bath and a/c unit. Includes linens and towels. Meals are
extra. I picked this up at our last retreat (January 2012).

Call and ask for Sue. Let her know you are a Sunshine Scrapper and you'd like a
night or 2 and if she has the space she will reserve you a room. 407.365.5571...

Scrapbook Expo:

http://www.scrapbookexpo.com/OR-12/Pre-Registratio n.asp
Registration Starts March 30th: If you are only shopping you do not need to register.
Many of us Sunshine Scrapper Sisters are registering to crop on Friday (5/18) AND OR Saturday (5/19). Of course shopping as well. Some are making it a weekend and staying at the Gaylord.

Don’t forget to: 1) Bring your SS Tervis tumbler or mug, 2) your SS purple grocery bag, 3) your SS neck wallet to keep your money in for shopping, 4) and most of all WEAR YOUR SS SHIRT! I’d love to see SS shirts all over the shopping area as well as the crop room. We can get us all together and take a group photo.
We will have SS “business cards” on the table for you to grab at the April and May crop to bring along in case someone wants our SS link-they can find us online. Hand them a card-maybe keep them in your neck wallet. We MUST enable them...LOL
If you don’t have a purple SS neck wallet Walmart carries black ones in the office supply section of the store. They are under $5.00 ($3.88-I *think) and very handy.

I suggest a scrapping backpack for shopping with a plastic hard folder type thing inside to keep 12x12 cs and paper from getting bent. This way you are also hands free to touch, hold and pay.
If you are attending please let us know by “signing up” under DATABASE-thank you.

Garage Sale items:
THIS MONTH ONLY place your garage sale items by the entrance wall (where we place the christmas tree each year). We don’t have enough tables for garage sale set up-so if you want to sell your garage sale items please bring your own table..
Feel free to bring those scrapping/crafts items you no longer need to each monthly crop. Please label each item with a price and your name and set them in the garage sale area of the room. This is very successful.

Sunshine Scrapper Shirt:
Sarah Rigby is the go to person for items embroidered with the SS logo. Her info is listed under DATABASE: “SS Village” Bring your $6.00 in an envelope with your name, email address or phone # and the item(s) Shirts, totes, jacket, sweatshirt, etc. to the next crop. See FILES for the logo. She will return them at the following crop. Just ask for Sarah.

I forgot to add-we are still working out details for the December Crop. We start planning for our biggest crop of the year in July/August. We have a traditional dinner and a gift exchange every year. We pick a theme-this yr. 12 days of Christmas....still working the details. We give away prizes-best decorated gift-best wrapped, best dressed-tackiest shirt/sweater...we also have a cookie exchange each yr.
Of course, we have our small christmas tree decorated and we decorate the room.

I hope that helps a little bit.

December Newsletter 2012
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

December 8th-Welcome to our 12th Annual December Holiday Crop. We will have our much loved “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree with our handmade tree skirt, wreath, ornaments, our traditional dinner, prizes, and most of all holiday crop time with our Sunshine sisters.

Our “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree has ornaments representing our Sunshine Scrappers family through the years. Some ornaments are store bought and some are handmade. Feel free to make an ornament (include the year) for our Christmas tree and bring it in December. It’s a Sunshine Scrappers annual tradition.

Hours

The doors OPEN at 10:00am NO earlier. The SS Elves would like the room to be festive when you all arrive-it is Christmas after all. Doors CLOSE at 10pm so we must be packed up and cleaned up by then. (It is a long day for us villagers)

December Crop Fee

As with every December Crop your entire crop fee ($6) will be donated to the church as a thank you for allowing us to crop each month. If you would like to donate more then please do. St. Alban’s will make sure it is used in a positive way. We enjoy giving back to our community. Rental fee for the big crop room is $185 -they are only charging us $75.00- THANK YOU ST. ALBAN’S!!

Please read all...we have a lot of things planned-don’t miss out on any of the fun!

Prizes and Gifts!

Festive Attire: Santa hat, socks, etc. show your Christmas/Holiday spirit the Sunshine Scrappers way to win a prize. Wear your Sunshine Scrappers shirts too!

Tackiest shirt/sweater: NEW this year tackiest attire wins a prize.

Most crops attended: 4 names will be drawn from the list of those who attended the most crops in 2012 and each will win a prize.

Best decorated gift exchange bag: See info below about the optional gift exchange and how to be eligible to win a prize.

Cookie exchange: See info below about optional cookie exchange and how to be eligible to win a prize..

Thank you gift: for all who attend the crop a token of our appreciation from the Sunshine Scrappers Village.

Group photo: taken after dinner. So look cute… LOL It’s another Sunshine Scrapper tradition!

Gift Exchange
This is of course optional

Gift Exchange RULES: (exchange will take place after dinner)

Please place your scrapbooking/stamping/cra fting gift, $15.00 and under in a BROWN PAPER GROCERY BAG.

Please add your name (FROM: Sunshiner _______) IN the bag so the receiver knows who the gift came from. We thought it would be fun to see WHO the item(s) are from so we know who to thank.

Decorate the “brown large grocery paper bag”. There will be a PRIZE for best wrapped/decorated paper bag. When you arrive at the crop please place your gift under the Christmas tree. You can see photos of past gift exchange bags under the PHOTOS file on the left of the home page for ideas.

After dinner we will gather around the Christmas tree for the exchange. We will go by “PODS”. Each pod will be assigned a random 12 Days of Christmas verse-and your table will be marked with your verse so remember what verse is yours. I will pull a verse out of a basket. When we call your pod verse each person at that pod who placed a bag under the tree will gather round the tree and pick a bag. After selecting your bag please have a seat by the tree.

TADA! You will open your gift for all to see (and oooh and aaahhh) then you can read who your gift came from. If you wish to exchange gifts with each other the gift exchange is complete you may certainly do so.

Don’t forget to use those coupons for purchases!

Janet’s Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange

We have an annual Christmas cookie exchange every year. It isn't mandatory for you to participate but it's always fun for those who do.

Here are the guidelines:

Sign up under "Database". Include your name and what kind of cookie you are making. The cutoff date to sign up is December 3rd-Monday.

Make one dozen cookies per person signed up. So if there are 15 people signed up, make 15 dozen cookies. Include yourself in the count. It makes it so much easier to redistribute the cookies.

Place each dozen cookies in either a zip lock bag or a cello bag you can get at Mikes or Joann’s (they are in the cake decorating section).

Attach the recipe to each bag and don't forget to include your name.

Bring them to the crop in a large container so you will have something to carry all your goodies home in.

Please, only home baked cookies.

We will have a table reserved for the cookie exchange. You will be entered in a special drawing for participating. Happy baking!

Janet

HELP! PLEASE READ!!

This is a BIG crop and we could use a lot of extra help especially with trash and removing the decorations. Remember ALL of US volunteer our time. THANK YOU!

FOOD & DINNER

PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP under DATABASE (prior to Monday 12/03) for the food item you are bringing. Here is a list of traditional food items we need for our dinner. Dinner is at 5:30p-ish. We’ve asked Father Ralph and his wife to join us and bless the food before dinner-Thank you Father Ralph! Lisa U. and her husband are also joining us for dinner.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU? We have found that having a designated menu helps us have a balanced dinner. So when you sign up, choose something from the list FIRST. Once the list is filled you can bring something additional of your choosing. This traditional dinner has always worked beautifully each year if we follow the list and make sure all the basics are covered. Thank you for your help.

Please try to bring your dish in something disposable, it helps so much with clean up. If you bring something that needs to be heated, mixed, pulled out of the refrigerator, cooked, etc. it is YOUR responsibility to have your food completed and on the buffet table by 5:30pm, dinner time.

April 2 day Crop/mini retreat

REMINDERS & Helpful Tips

Ladies, we have a lot of Sunshine Scrappers attending our 2nd annual April 2 day crop/retreat. We are so excited to see so many new and old Sunshine Scrapper sisters. The SS Villagers thought we’d take a moment to give you a “heads up” on the events April 12 & 13th as to not take away from your crop time. We also understand we have MANY SS Newbies so this will be old and new information. Please feel free to ask questions & print this information to help you. Here we go...

**APRIL CROP SIGN UP:
If you have signed up for this crop and CANNOT attend please delete your name from the sign up.
This will help in setting up pods AND a dinner head count for Saturday.

Please feel free to bring your scrapping/crafting items you’d like to sell to the crop.
You MUST have your name and a price on your items so the seller (YOU) can be paid.
You MUST provide YOUR OWN TABLE for the garage sale. We will NOT have enough tables for the garage sale with so many scrappers.
You may want to have “change” on hand $1.00 bills as well.

FOOD/DINNER & DRINKS:

HISTORY: Our rental fee is very low and to thank St. Alban’s for allowing the use of Grundorf Hall (the big) room this is our THANKS to them. Our regular crop room is 1/3 of the size of the big room and our rent is the same. So please help us help St. Alban’s so we can crop again like this next year.

GROUP PHOTO:
We will take a group photo which will be displayed on the Sunshine Scrappers homepage for an entire year. If you can please wear a white or purple shirt.
Purple is our signature color. If purple isn’t your color white wiorks good too. :-) It looks nice in the group photo.
If you’d like the Sunshine Scrappers logo on it please bring a shirt to Sarah Rigby. Her info is located under DATABASE SS Village.
The photo will be taken in the courtyard after dinner and ice cream bar Saturday.

TIMES:
Friday: April 12th 3:00p- 11:00p
Doors locked at 11:00p...you may leave your stuff in the room for the night.

Saturday: April 13th 8:00am-10:00p
Doors locked at 10p so that means cleaned up, tables moved, garbage out, kitchen cleaned and all have left by 10p

GIFT: You will receive a gift when you arrive.

***SEATING-how does seating work?

Please help us to help you. (We are a non-profit group and all volunteer their time.)

The crop room is set up in pods. A pod is four 8 ft. tables put together to make a “square”. 2 scrappers share an 8 ft. table getting 4 ft. of space so 8 scrappers per pod. This set up allows more friends to sit together....up to 8.

We realize that not all groups of friends have 8 so we ask that you make as much room as possible for others to share your pod.

We DO NOT reserve seats or pods for YOU. We suggest if you have a group (a group is 2 or more) that wants to sit together send a representative in your group to come as the doors open Friday at 3p to save seats at your pod of choice. Tape a piece of paper with the scrappers name on it on the table “4ft space”. This will help “other scrappers coming in” see the if a spot is taken.

If you have 5 scrappers at your pod and have 3 open seats please make it visible so people can fill in those seats before going to another pod that is empty. You may have a group of 8 coming to fill a pod. This is so we can get as many scrappers sitting with their scrapping buddies as possible. When you have a lot attending we must work together to make this possible.

SS Newbies:
Scrapping items: these are suggestion to help your cropping comfort

1) **SS Mug/Tervis Tumbler/water bottle (covered drink)-in case of spills (YOU provide your own beverage for the day)
2) Cup holder (scrap ma Bob)-attaches to the table
3) Scrapbook supplies- trimmer, scissors, cardstock, kits, your photos, etc.
4) Crop fee, $$ for a raffle ticket (in case we have a raffle that month)
5) Pillow or seat cushion for your tushy-the chairs are NOT padded
6) Laptop/printer-if you are a digital scrapper
7) Name tag- (if you are new we’ll have one for you at your 1st crop)
Ott lite (the lighting in Kimsey hall is low)
9) Extension cord-for lights, cricuts, fans, etc.
10) Duct tape- to tape down the cords as to not trip.
11) Fan-portable (summer months-Walmart carries these for under $8), jacket (if you get cold easily)
12) Electronic cutter (if you own one)
13) Lunch (bring or eat before arriving), beverage (for the day), pot luck/dinner dish
Tool holder- something to carry your trimmer, adhesive, scissors, etc.
Small lunch cooler for bringing your beverage of choice for the day-place in fridge labeled with your name.

***PLEASE: Label all your tools- with your name and either your phone number or an email address in case the item is left behind. Most of us have the same items. It’s easy to get misplaced. ***Maybe a luggage tags on your tote(s), backpacks, rolling totes etc.
FYI: We have had items left at the crops with no name or phone number-no contact information. Laptops have been left behind-if your item has contact info. we maybe able to reach you by phone before you arrive home.

TIPS:
If you’re like me and need to bring all your supplies and the kitchen sink I suggest using those plastic-rolling crates to “roll” your stuff in and out. These are found at any office supply store or Walmart for $15-$20. They fold up nicely for storage. Teachers use these a lot. * Many use the Thirty One bags/totes for bringing their items to crops as well.

If you can pre-plan your pages, then all you have to do is pull out a folder or envelope with all embellishments, cardstock, etc and complete the page(s).

Most important- Have fun and don’t forget to wear your Sunshine Scrappers shirt!! Wear comfortable clothes-you are among friends.

Thank you for helping us accommodate everyone.

REMINDERS & Helpful Tips

Hello! Ladies, we have a lot of Sunshine Scrappers attending our 1st annual OCTOBER 2 day crop/retreat-Happy Fall Y’ALL!. April’s 2 day crop was such a success we wanted to do it again. Two days in a row with your Sunshine Scrapper sisters. The SS Villagers thought we’d take a moment to give you a “heads up” on the events as to not take away from your crop time. We also understand we have MANY SS Newbies so this will be old and new information. Please feel free to ask questions & print this information to help you. Here we go...

**October CROP SIGN UP:
If you have signed up for this crop and CANNOT attend please delete your name from the sign up.

GARAGE SALE: (This is usually a HUGE turn out)

**You MUST provide YOUR OWN TABLE for the garage sale. We will NOT have enough tables for the garage sale with so many scrappers.
You may want to have “change” on hand $1.00 bills as well.
Consultants, LSS Owners etc.: your items MUST be at least 50% off.

FOOD/DINNER & DRINKS:
Sunshine Scrappers DO NOT provide beverages (except for coffee for both days located in kitchen). Please provide your own beverage for both days and mug/cup.
Sunshine Scrappers WILL provide dinner Saturday night served between 5:30p and 6:00p as well as plasticware, plates, napkins, paper towels etc. -included in your crop fee.
Please feel free to bring food to share such as snacks, appetizers, bagels etc. and place them on the back tables (food tables) where the plates and utensils are located.
ICE CREAM BAR: please sign up (DATABASE) for items for the ice cream bar-including ice cream which will be served after dinner SATURDAY NIGHT. Items for the ice cream bar would be: cool whip, cherries, sprinkles, carmel, chocolate syrup, etc. See a separate sign up for ICE CREAM BAR under DATABASE
DINNER SATURDAY will be italian-ziti, salad, bread sticks

RAFFLE 50/50: VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
Tickets are $1 per ticket or 5 tickets for $3.00. The funds will be split with 50% going to one lucky Sunshine Scrapper sister and the other 50% going to St. Alban’s to pay for use of utilities in Grundorf Hall.
***HISTORY: Our rental fee is very low and to thank St. Alban’s for allowing the use of Grundorf Hall (the big) room this is our THANKS to them. Our regular crop room is 1/3 of the size of the big room and our rent is the same. So please help us help St. Alban’s so we can crop again like this next year. To rent Grundorf Hall the fee would be $1000.00 a month! Yes, that many zeros!

TIMES:
Friday: October 11th 3:00p- 11:00p
Doors locked at 11:00p...you may leave your stuff in the room for the night.

Saturday: October 12th 8:00am-10:00p
Doors locked at 10p so that means cleaned up, tables moved, garbage out, kitchen cleaned and all have left by 10p
Close Up Rules: still apply. PLEASE DO NOT FOLD TABLES and CHAIRS in GRUNDORF HALL. We are allowed to leave them as is. :-)

***SEATING-how does seating work?

Please help us to help you. **VERY IMPORTANT!

We suggest if you have a group (a group is 2 or more) that want to sit together send a representative in your group to come as the doors open Friday at 3p to save seats at your pod of choice.

4) Crop fee, $$ for a raffle ticket
5) Laptop/printer-if you are a digital scrapper
6) Ott lite
7) Extension cord-for lights, cricuts, fans, etc.
Duct tape- to tape down the cords as to not trip.
9) Electronic cutter (if you own one)
10) Lunch/dinner/breakfast etc. SNACKS
11) Small lunch cooler for bringing your beverage of choice for the day-place in fridge labeled with your name.

Thank you for helping us accommodate everyone.

Sunshine Scrappers CROPS

~Is membership limited? NO, all are welcome!

~Where do the Sunshine Scrappers crop/meet?

St. Alban's Cathedral
3348 State Road 426 (Aloma Ave.)
Oviedo, FL  32765

**We are NOT church related.
**We rent the facility and sign a yearly contract (August-July).

~What are the hours of the crops? 10:00am-10:00pm-unless otherwise noted Come anytime...

~When do you crop/meet? We meet the second Saturday of every month. So you always know the date of the next monthly crop. The second Saturday of the month avoids all the major holidays...Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. *NOTE: the church has the right to reschedule our crops.

~Do you pay a fee? YES, $6.00 for ONLY the crops you attend. The small blue check-in table is located by the door when you enter the crop room (Kimsey Hall). Please write your name in the notebook as paid and place the money in the moneybag. *This is a honor system.

~Where does my money go? The money pays for the use of the church Kimsey Hall (our non-profit rental $75.00 a month *normal rental fee is $350.00). We also purchase disposable supplies to run the crops. This would include paper plates, paper towels, dish and hand soap, napkins, plastic ware, tablecloths, prizes, etc. (just to name a few). Your money goes to St. Alban’s or directly back to YOU.

~What are the RULES? We have two rules...
1) No consultants, Website Owners and LSS Owners can sell at crops or on our website. You are more than welcome to share your catalogs, business cards, and ideas but exchanging of money is not permitted. All Consultants, Website Owners & LSS Owners are welcome. **If you ONLY want to promote your business at a SS crop or on our website you have found the wrong group. Please respect our members.
**2) Please, NO children under 16 yrs. (if you have teenagers who would like to attend-use your own judgment-we have adult (G-rated) conversations) Most of us look forward to this “time away”.

~How do I sign up if I'm attending a crop? We have a section (DATABASE) on the left of the screen. We delete after each crop to sign up again for the next month. Knowing who's coming helps us in setting up the tables and how much space we need. **We DO NOT reserve seats for you. It’s FIRST come, FIRST “seated”. We suggest if you have 2 or more friends coming and would like to sit together to get to the crop as soon as it opens.

~What do I bring to the crops?
Dining/POTLUCK-please bring your food right into the kitchen after noon-12:00p. (The church Flower Lady is working on the arrangements until 12p). Pam H. is our dinner coordinator. She will pick a DINNER theme. So when you sign up under DATABASE to attend the crop please also add a food item to go with the meal theme. See Pam H.‘s “comments” under DATABASE CROP SIGN UP for theme food details. This helps keep the dinners “fresh and fun”. **If you have anything perishable please bring a cooler with ice until we can access the refrigerator.
Please, provide your favorite beverage *NON alcoholic* for the day along with a covered cup/mug. We DO NOT provide lunch OR DRINKS (no cups or mugs either)-ONLY pot luck DINNER.
**The kitchen is equipped with 2 ovens, a microwave, sink and refrigerator. It also has a section set up for crock pots. We have a bag of ice in the freezer. Our group provides our own kitchen tools, plates, coffee, ice, dish soap etc. **PLEASE DO NOT use the church supplies in the kitchen cabinets. We can use pot holders. Thank you.
Bring your scrapbooking supplies. **See: “SUGGESTIONS: How to pack for a SS Crop”? under FILES. We have a few tips on bringing a few extras to help make your crop time more comfy. :-)
5) And as always, bring a friend or two or three... all are welcome.

~This is my first crop with the group...what do I do? Come and have fun. You'll receive a warm welcome but most of all you'll meet new friends. Please feel free to walk around the crop room/Kimsey Hall and introduce yourself and share ideas. Our rectangular tables are set up in “pods”. Pods are 2 8 ft tables put together to make a square then one on the end-allowing 6 people sharing a “pod”. So all will get a 4ft. space! St. Alban’s provides us with Wi-Fi. The radio will be playing to provide “background noise”.

Closing: Our doors are locked at 10p no earlier no later. Please help us out with clean up by packing up by 9:30p so we can move tables, chairs back, trash out to dumpster, and room vacuumed at 9:45p.

*Monthly Newsletter: Our monthly newsletter is posted under FILES after each crop to always keep you informed on current and future crop events. As soon as we know of changes (crop dates or times, etc.) we will inform you on the message board and or on the monthly newsletter. Our Garage Sale rules and requirements are here as well.

**St. Alban’s:
We may park in the grassy area and the paved area. NO parking in the loading and unloading Courtyard. The door to Kimsey Hall (our crop room) is behind the Jesus Statue in the courtyard.

*Please keep in mind we are renters so be careful when driving up and out of the courtyard to load and unload as not to damage any of the landscape.

Thank you for your help.

~This is a non-profit group-each of us volunteers our time in planning, organizing, setting up tables, taking out trash, shop for supplies, cleaning the room and kitchen, etc. We are open to your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and help. Remember this is YOUR group.

Our motto!
**Making FRIENDS, while making MEMORIES!**

See you at the next crop!

December Newsletter 2013
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

December 14th-Welcome to our 13th Annual December Holiday Crop. We will have our NEW much loved “SS PURPLE” Christmas tree with our handmade tree skirt, wreath, ornaments, our traditional dinner and most of all holiday crop time with our Sunshine sisters. Traditionally we’ve celebrated the holiday season in Grundorf Hall (BIG room). This year the church needs the room so we are using our regular crop room Kimsey Hall. We have some traditional and new ideas to celebrate the season. So let’s get started.....

PLEASE READ ALL...so you don’t miss out...

Hours

The doors OPEN at 10:00am NO earlier. KIMSEY HALL smaller hall. Doors CLOSE at 10pm so we must be packed up and cleaned up by 10.

December Crop Fee

As with every December Crop your entire crop fee, $6, will be donated to the church as a thank you for allowing us to crop each month. If you would like to donate more please do. St. Alban’s will make sure it is used in a positive way. We enjoy giving back to our community. THANK YOU ST. ALBAN’S!!

Prizes/FUN!

Festive Attire: Spirit Award: Santa hat, socks, etc. show your Christmas/Holiday spirit the Sunshine Scrappers way to win a prize. We’d love to see a fun twist to your apparel.

Above and Beyond AWARD: Your name will be in a basket to win a year worth of FREE Crops valued at $66.00. (2014-Jan.-Nov.)

NEW! BEST DECORATED POD: See info below about optional Decorating YOUR pod...includes a prize for all SS sisters at your pod.

Cookie exchange: See info below about Janet’s optional cookie exchange. Those who participate will be added in a drawing for a prize.

Group photo: taken before dinner in the courtyard before the sun sets. (4:30p ish) So look cute and festive… LOL

The cutoff date to sign up is December 6th-Friday.

We will have the “Garage Sale counter” (next to the Christmas Tree) reserved for the cookie exchange. Happy baking!

Janet

Best Decorated Pod

Here is something NEW! Each of the 6 people at YOUR pod bring items to decorate your pod. You do NOT have to buy items to decorate. Try to use items you have on hand at home.

You can make a centerpiece for your pod, you can decorate the entire pod, whatever you choose to do. You can theme your pod anyway you choose: Christmas theme, Scrapping theme, let your creativity go.

The pods will all be numbered so YOU can vote on the most creative pod. Everyone will receive a ticket and you will place your ticket in the bucket of your favorite decorated pod. You CAN vote for your own pod. The SS Elves will add up the ticket/votes to see which pod wins. Each person at the winning pod will receive a prize.

We can’t wait to see what you all come up with....

*PLEASE...NO GARAGE SALE THIS MONTH*

FOOD & DINNER

PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP under DATABASE for the food item you are bringing. Check Pam's posting under Database for the specifics of the menu.

NOTE! Please try to bring your dish in something disposable, it helps so much with clean up. If you bring something that needs to be heated, mixed, pulled out of the refrigerator, cooked, etc. it is YOUR responsibility to have your food completed and on the buffet table by 5:30pm, dinner time.

DRINKS

Please continue to bring your own drinks and cups as we do not supply them.
“Coffee Bar” provided by your SS funds. Please feel free to make more coffee if needed.

HELP! PLEASE READ!!

Before you leave the crop can you please help us out by cleaning your area/table? Empty your trash bowl and pick up any paper, scraps, food, take down decorations etc. We could use a lot of extra help especially with trash and removing the decorations. Remember ALL of US volunteer our time. THANK YOU!

BIG THANK YOU!

Lisa Torres, Kelli Tennant, Pam Hartman, Janet Martin, Sarah Rigby, Wendy Collins, Stacey Lindamood, Tricia Bulman-THANK YOU! We couldn’t do this without your help!

THANK YOU SS Sisters for coming each month and supporting YOUR group! We wouldn’t be a group without YOU all attending, giving your ideas, love and support. Thank YOU on behalf of the SS Village/Elves.

Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays!!!!
Have a happy and safe holiday season!

SUNSHINE SCRAPPERS
APRIL 2 day Crop
Friday-April 11th & Saturday-April 12th 2014
Happy 13th Anniversary!

REMINDERS & Helpful Tips

Hello! Sunshine Scrappers, Two days in a row with your Sunshine Scrapper sisters. The SS Villagers thought we’d take a moment to give you a “heads up” on the events as to not take away from your crop time. Please feel free to ask questions & print this information to help you. Here we go...

**APRIL CROP SIGN UP:
If you have signed up for this crop and CANNOT attend please delete your name from the sign up.
This will help in setting up pods AND a dinner head count for Saturday (saving SS & YOU $).
$20.00 for both days. 22 hours of crop time. If you can ONLY attend one of the two days. The cost is the same. We must pay rent for both days.
***This is NOT an overnight event. However, do not let that stop YOU from planning a weekend away with friends on your own.

GARAGE SALE: (This is usually a HUGE turn out)
Please feel free to bring your scrapping/crafting items you’d like to sell to the crop.
You MUST have your name and a price on your items so the seller (YOU) can be paid.

Sunshine Scrappers WILL provide dinner Saturday night served between 5:30p and 6:00p as well as plasticware, plates, napkins, paper towels, decorations etc. -included in your crop fee.
Please feel free to bring food to share such as snacks, appetizers, bagels etc. and place them on the back tables (food tables) where the plates and utensils are located.
DINNER SATURDAY will be Pizza and salad.

RAFFLE 50/50: VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
Tickets are $1 per ticket or 5 tickets for $3.00. The funds will be split with 50% going to one lucky Sunshine Scrapper sister and the other 50% going to St. Alban’s to pay for the use of utilities in Grundorf Hall.

***GROUP PHOTO: We are taking a group photo in the courtyard Saturday around dinner to be displayed on our SS website homepage for an entire year. We ask that you wear either a WHITE or PURPLE shirt (our signature colors) for the photo. If the shirt has the SS logo on it even better. THANK YOU!

TIMES:
Friday: April 11th 3:00p- 11:00p
Doors locked at 11:00p...you may leave your stuff in the room for the night.

Saturday: April 12th 8:00am-10:00p
Doors locked at 10p so that means cleaned up, tables moved, garbage out, kitchen cleaned and all have left by 10p
Close Up Rules: still apply.

***SEATING-how does seating work?

Please help us to help you. **VERY IMPORTANT!

We suggest if you have a group (a group is 2 or more) that want to sit together send a representative in your group to come as the doors open Friday at 3p to save seats at your pod of choice.

4) Crop fee, $$ for a raffle ticket, garage sale
5) Laptop/printer-if you are a digital scrapper
6) Ott lite-low lighting
7) Extension REEL cord-for lights, cricuts, fans, etc.
Duct tape or painters tape- to tape down the cords as to not trip.
9) Electronic cutter (if you own one)
10) Lunch/dinner/breakfast etc. SNACKS
11) Small lunch cooler for bringing your beverage of choice for the day

***PLEASE: Label all your tools- with your name and either your phone number or an email address in case the item is left behind. Most of us have the same items. It’s easy to get misplaced. ***Maybe a luggage tags on your tote(s), backpacks, rolling totes etc.
FYI: We have had items left at the crops with no name or phone number-no contact information. Laptops have been left behind-if your item has contact info. we maybe able to reach you by phone before you arrive home.

Most important- Have fun and don’t forget to wear your Sunshine Scrappers shirt!! Wear comfortable clothes-you are among friends.

Thank you for helping us accommodate everyone.

*This is an honor system.

We have a section (DATABASE) click on MORE then DATABASE. We delete after each crop to sign up again for the next month. Knowing who's coming helps us in setting up the tables and chairs. **We DO NOT reserve seats for you. It’s FIRST come, FIRST “seated”. We suggest if you have 2 or more friends coming and would like to sit together to get to the crop as soon as it opens.

~What do I bring to the crops?
Dinner/POTLUCK-please bring your food right into the kitchen. (If the church Flower Lady is working on the arrangements please wait until she is finished). Pam H. is our dinner coordinator-See Pam H.‘s “comments” under DATABASE CROP SIGN UP for theme food details.. She will pick a DINNER theme. So when you sign up under DATABASE to attend the crop please also add a food item to go with the meal theme. This helps all of us see what is missing for the meal to better balance dinner.
Please, provide your favorite beverage *NON alcoholic* for the day along with a covered cup/mug. We DO NOT provide lunch OR DRINKS (no cups or mugs)-ONLY pot luck DINNER. This helps keep your crop fees low.

October!

SUNSHINE SCRAPPERS
OCTOBER 2 day Crop
Friday-October 17th & Saturday-October 18th 2014
*THIRD WEEKEND!*
“Breast Cancer Awareness & World Menopause Month”

Hello! Sunshine Scrappers, Two days in a row with your Sunshine Scrapper sisters (a true Ladies weekend!). Our theme this year is “Breast Cancer Awareness and World Menopause Month” (yes, seriously). :-) The SS Villagers thought we’d take a moment to give you a “heads up” on the events as to not take away from your crop time. We are in Grundorf Hall (the BIG room-look for the SUNSHINE flag out front). Please feel free to ask questions & print this information to help you. *October info is different from April’s info.

***THIS IS NOT A CHARITY EVENT! ***

**OCTOBER CROP SIGN UP:
If you have signed up for this crop and CANNOT attend please delete your name from the sign up.
This will help in setting up pods AND a dinner head count for Saturday (saving SS & YOU $).
$20.00 for both days. 22 hours of crop time. If you can ONLY attend one of the two days the cost is the same. We must pay rent for both days.
***This is NOT an overnight event. However, do not let that stop YOU from planning a weekend away with friends on your own.

FOOD/DINNER & DRINKS:
Sunshine Scrappers DO NOT provide beverages (except for coffee for both days located in kitchen). Please provide your own beverage for both days and mug/cup.
Sunshine Scrappers WILL provide dinner Saturday night served between 5:30p and 6:00p as well as plasticware, plates, napkins, paper towels, decorations etc. -included in your crop fee.
Please feel free to bring food to share such as snacks, appetizers, bagels etc. and place them on the “food tables” where the plates and utensils are located (in front of the kitchen window).
*DINNER SATURDAY: We are ordering from Marcos. Pizza, subs, salad and wings. We will have a veggie pizza and veggie sub by request. **PLEASE REQUEST (Veggie) if this applies UNDER COMMENTS next to your name on the October Sign Up (DATABASE).
*Dessert: Ice Cream Bar: please sign up under DATABASE for items to go with the ice cream bar (Saturday night after dinner).

***NO GROUP PHOTO-ONLY IN APRIL...
Feel Free to wear your Purple SS Shirts and PINK Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons etc. Or PURPLE for World Menopause Month. It’s AWARENESS Weekend.

RAFFLE 50/50: VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
Tickets are $1 or buy 5 tickets for $3.00. The funds will be split with 50% going to one lucky Sunshine Scrapper sister and the other 50% going to St. Alban’s to pay for the use of utilities in Grundorf Hall.
To rent Grundorf Hall the fee would be $1000.00 a day (crop)! Yes, that many zeros!

GARAGE SALE: (Shopping while you crop!)
Please feel free to bring your scrapping/crafting items you’d like to sell to the crop.
You MUST have your name and a price on your items so the seller (YOU) can be paid.

TIMES:
Friday: October 17th 3:00p-11:00p
Doors locked at 11:00p...you may leave your stuff in the room for the night.

Saturday: October 18th 8:00am-10:00p
Doors locked at 10p
***Close Up Rules: still apply. We need to be moving tables and chairs back at 9:45p and vacuuming. (See FILES under “SS Village Duties” to see what needs to be done for clean up.)

***SEATING-how does seating work?

Please help us to help you. **VERY IMPORTANT!

The crop room is set up in pods. A pod is four 8 ft. tables put together to make a “square”. 2 scrappers share an 8 ft. table getting 4 ft. of space so 8 scrappers per pod. This set up allows more friends to sit together....up to 8. **The chairs are all padded in Grundorf Hall.

We realize that not all groups of friends have 8 so we ask that you make as much room as possible for others to share your pod.

We DO NOT reserve seats or pods for YOU. We suggest if you have a group (a group is 2 or more) that want to sit together send a representative in your group to arrive as the doors open Friday at 3p to save seats at your pod of choice.

Thanks for your help everyone! :-)
