The weeks leading up to CHA are usually some of my favorites. I love looking at all the sneak peeks of the new products that will be making their way into stores. I can spend hours drooling and making lists of all the new products I just HAVE to have. (If you haven't seen any sneak peeks yet, check out this website - http://www.scrapbookupdate.com/cha-winter-2012-sneak -pe... )
Unfortunately, I'm quite disappointed at what I've seen so far. It seems like everything is very feminine, lacey, pink, floral...etc. I mainly scrapbook my two little boys and I've got to say there's not a whole lot to choose from. Is anyone else disappointed with the sneak peeks?

Tim Holtz and Graphic 45 have had some fantastic sneak peeks-I'm very much looking forward to the Olde Curiosity Shoppe paper line from G45 and TH has a new pp pack also coming out called destinations that looks very boyish:

Break out of gender stereotypes! Use pink for boys and blue for girls.

Not much of the paper I've seen has excited me, but I'm looking forward to some of the Spellbinders and Tim Holtz releases.

I LOVE "A Boy's Life" by Echo Park...it's on its way to me as we speak (or type)! Bo Bunny's "On the Go" also looks good and I'm sure I'll get that one too. Other than those two collections...nothing else has interested me. I'm hoping Bella Blvd will have something too...their stuff is always cute!

As for pink on boy layouts....I've done it, but I use it VERY sparingly! I'm sure when my boys are older they'll not be impressed with pink layouts!

I've seen plenty of sneak peeks that I love. I agree there aren't as many boy/masculine lines as girl/feminine, but that's nothing new. I'm most excited about Studio Calico's Abroad line, which is pretty gender neutral.

I have found A LOT of boy products this CHA, actually, that I'm excited for. Which is great since my DH races and my son is as as a boy can be at nearly 2.

Bo Bunny's "On the Go" is perfect - http://bobunny.blogspot.com/2012/01/on-go-and-ser enity....

So is Nikki Sivils, "Noah" - http://nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/2012/01/cha-winter-s...

Bella Blvd has a cute collection, "Baby Boy" - http://bellablvd.typepad.com/bella_blvd/2012/01/sn eak-p...

Fancy Pants Designs's "Childish Things" - http://missfancypants.typepad.com/little_miss_fancy_pan ...

Echo Park also released "A Boy's Life" last month - http://echoparkpaper.blogspot.com/2011/12/introducing-b ...

Just a spin-off on the pink/blue thing - did you know that it used to be reversed? If you look at articles and etiquette from as late as the last century, you'll find them advocating pink as a traditional boys' color (because of it's ties to red, a strong masculine color) and blue as a traditional girls' (because they say it's feminine and soft). It wasn't until around WWII that the colors switched.

I just read this today in an article for my Children's Lit class!

I think Fancy Pants and My Minds Eye is coming through for me.
I have boys starting that "tween" age and the cutesy airplanes and monkeys just don't cut it at that age. At the same time I don't want the really dark and depressing "teenage Angst" type colors either.

Its not about being gender specific its trying to find patterned papers and embellishments that will match the clothes my boys are wearing in their pictures. I scrap based on what is going on although I will say regardless of gender I am tired of seeing mainly pinks for Easter.

I was going to say that! Also pale blue was associated with the Virgin Mary so that was a feminine colour. Isn't it strange how things changed so quickly?
