Creating Paper Curls Tutorial

by Scrapperleeanne

Quilt Roll By Penny Lane

Below is rolled ribbon, but you could do the same style with paper! Just do NOT put it in the oven!

Here is the tutorial on how to make curly RIBBON, which would not count for today's challenge, but looks cool anyway, so I thought I would share.

2/28: Alter some chipboard and use it on a project for +150 pts!

2/29: Some people like to think of leap day as a quadrennial gift, a free 24 hours that exists outside our normal routines. Find a way to use your free day to do something different. Get a recommendation for a new book to read, or a new (or old) movie to see. Read about a new place you haven’t yet been, or explore new ideas that you haven’t yet learned. Take a leap! Share what you explored outside of your normal routine on our thread for +300 pts!

~*~Weekly Challenge and Photo Challenge~*~
These challenges MUST be posted WITH POINTS DETAILS by 11:59 PM PST Sunday to take points for the weekly challenges.

If you take a pic of your computer screen because you do not have the item asked for in the weekly photo challenge you will only get half points for the picture of your computer screen. So if the challenge was originally worth 100 pts, you would get 50 pts; worth 50 pts, you would get 25 pts; etc.

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 is Mardi Gras!!! For this week's scrapping challenge take points for using the following items on ONE (1) 12x12 (or smaller) layout:

fleur de lis +25 pts
at least one french word +25 pts
the color purple +50 pts
the color green +50 pts
the color gold/yellow +50 pts
beads +50 pts
a mask or masks +75 pts
theme=celebration/party +75 pts

MAX total points=400 pts

Weekly Photo Challenge

BACKGROUND: The traditional colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. The meaning of the colors are: Justice (purple), Faith (green), and Power (gold). Costumes and masks are seldom publicly worn by non-Krewe members on the days before Fat Tuesday (other than at parties), but are frequently worn on Mardi Gras Day. In New Orleans, Louisiana, laws against concealing one's identity with a mask are suspended for the day. Inexpensive strings of beads and toys have been thrown from floats to parade-goers since at least the late 19th century.

Some Mardi Gras icons are:
-Faces of Comedy and Drama
-Feathered masks
-Fleur de Lis
-Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! (French for "Let the good times roll!")
-Throw me something, Mister!
-If Ever I Cease to Love
-Mardi Gras Mambo

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!

Each picture you "capture" is worth +50 pts for a MAX of +250 pts for all 5 pictures!

for more info on Mardi Gras you can check out Wikipedia! (Just do not cite Wikipedia as a source for a research paper, please.) i_Gras

2/13 - 2/19

Weekly: In the spirit of Valentine's Day this week, lets scrap about a person you love for 150 points. List reasons why you love this person on your page for an additional 150 points. Use Valentine's colors(red, white, pink, purple)for an extra 100 points! Total possible points = 400

Pictures: 50pts each
Someone you love

Weekly Scrapping Challenge

To go along with International Friendship week this week's challenge is to scrap a layout about your oldest friend. This can be the oldest person in your life, the person that you have been friends the longest, etc. Tell a story with pictures or words about why this person means so much to you. If you create a 1 page layout take 150 points. If you create a 2 page layout take 300 points. If you journal over 200 words take an additional 100 points.

Weekly Photo Challenge
(each picture is worth +50 pts for a MAX of +250 pts)

A pet
A good book
Something that makes you smile

Weekly Scrapping Challenge

Make a layout in 45 minutes for +400 pts! Set your timer and stop when it goes off! The only work you can do before starting your timer is plan your design--whether that means choosing a sketch/scraplift, doing it in your head, writing it on paper, etc. and printing/choosing/getting out your pictures and/or memorabilia you are going to use on the LO. You cannot get papers/embellishments ready in advance.)

Once your time is up stop!! If you choose to continue working on your LO, you must subtract 100 pts for every 5 minutes you continue to work on it. (So a 50 minute LO would be worth 300 pts, a 55 minute LO would be worth 200 pts, a 60 minute (1 hour) LO would be worth 100 pts. Over 1 hour is not eligible for the challenge points!)

BROUGHT TO YOU BY: DaNel Hicks!!!! Thanks DaNel!

Many of us have signed up to do the project life, photo a day, 365+1 or whatever you want to call it this year. If you are like me you are up to date on photos but behind on layouts (I have the first 2 weeks of the year done). February’s monthly project is to get us caught back up so we don’t give up.

By the end of February we will have had 8 full weeks and one partial week for the year. Some of you are up to date on your layouts (which is great) and if you are not we are going to get up to date.

•Post your photo a day to the group for 10 points a photo. (290 points maximum)
•Use your photos on a layout (one layout per week) for 200 points per weekly layout. (600 points total)

o Feb 5 – Feb 11
o Feb 12 – Feb 18
o Feb 19 – Feb 26

I know that these weeks are different from the ATG weeks but this is how the calendar falls and many of us are using these dates on are Project Life Projects.

•If you post your layouts on Sunday Feb 12, Feb 19, or Feb 27 take an additional 100 points per layout. (300 Bonus Points)

If you are behind on your January layouts this should motivate you to get them finished and posted.

For those of you not doing the Project Life or 365+1 here is your option. (You can't do both)

We all have our own unique scrapbook style. I want you to pick one of your favorite layout and lift it to scrap in a different style than what you normally scrap in. You will use the same project all 3 weeks. So each one will be similar but different.

There will be a total of 3 projects (we have 3 full weeks left this month) Each layout will be worth 300 point (900 total). If you do all 3 take an additional 300 points. (no bonus point if you don't complete all 3 layouts)

This will be a great way to try something new. See what a layout would look like if you added this or took away that. Get out of your comfort zone. It is ok. Scrapbooking is fun.

You can use different photos. Just expand your creativity on your layout. If you never use ribbon try ribbon on one. If you never use the whole page and normally leave negative space try to fill the whole page with things. If you normally fill the whole page try to leave negative space.

Again the photos do not have to be the same. Just try to expand your styles and try something new.

Challenge Volunteers! These are the new rules for people who want to volunteer to do a week of challenges.
1.The weekly challenge cannot be worth more than 400 pts.
2.The daily challenges can only be worth 150 pts with one exception per week up to 300 pts. So 6 days of 150 points or less and one challenge up to 300 points.
3.The daily challenges should generally be something that can be incorporated into ANY LO. Not a challenge that you must make a LO for that you wouldn't have made otherwise. But it CAN require you to make a whole LO for one challenge per week.
4.Picture challenges can only be worth up to 250 pts total added up for all pictures. There should not be more than 6 pictures for the weekly photo challenge.
5. You SHOULD post the challenge by 10 AM EST (which is 7AM PST) OR post the challenge the night before, preferably after 9PM your time.
6. Please update the 1st page with your challenges at least one time by the Tuesday of your week, at least once by the Friday of your week, and at least once on Sunday of your week after you post the last daily challenge for your week! So you need to update the 1st page using the AnythingGoesChallenge login (you will be pm'd the login information before your week as hostess) a minimum of 3 times if you host an entire week of challenges. The first time you update, on Monday or Tuesday of your week, please post BOTH your weekly challenges and your daily challenges under the correct post (either the Daily Challenges post of the Weekly Challenges post on the 1st page of the thread).

****Weeks will run from Monday to Sunday!****

I'm in for 20! I'm going to have to find my creative mojo again if I'm going to accomplish what I did last year!

Players list is updated to here!

I received payment from Paula. I have you marked as paid now

I need volunteers to come up with the daily/weekly challenges! You only have to volunteer for one week! If you are interested, just post on the thread that you want to host a week of challenges and I will assign a week to you!

ALSO--if anyone is interested in coming up with the MONTHLY CHALLENGE, please send me a private message! Thanks for your help ladies!
