Maybe there are other C & S scrappers that feel the way you do and so don't add their work either. I rally don't have any way of knowing for sure. The good news is that there are C & S scrappers here as evidenced by the response.
I personally tend to not use many embellishements for several reasons. 1. I am creating a legacy and want to get as many LOs complete as I can before I can no longer scrap. I own TONS of photos, both inherited and current. 2. Volume scrapping becomes too expensive for fancy LOs as Henri Jean said. I save that style for very special LOs only. 3. Volume scrapping and "fat" LOs just are not compatible. 4. Fancy LOs take too long to do.
There are some lines that tend to lend themselves to clean and simple scrapping more so than others. Some lines are just made for embelli-happy styles, however I do think the idea is for designers to show off the products included in each line.
I follow designers because I like to see the new stuff and because the LOs are actually beautiful and I admire them even if I choose not to follow suit.
So keep rockin those flat clean and simple LOs and please do share them!

Don't be discouraged! Your layouts are fabulous!
I am definately not a C&S scrapper but admire that style immensely. I find it so hard to scrap in that way.
Did you know Webster's Pages have a Clean and Simple design team now, to work with the new C&S collections ?? I am a tad biased, but I love what the C&S girls create...they are so inspiring me.
Keep on posting your layouts!!

Makes perfectly good sense.
I don't think you get much simpler than mine!
Thanks for the compliment CrimsonMama. I scrap pictures, memorbilia and I journal a lot. I don't want a whole lot else. Maybe a diecut.

First thing..... I BELIEVE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BAD LAYOUT!!! There are very many different scrap book styles. You should be happy with your layouts whether they are plain & simple, messy & inked, full of flowers, full of embellies, only memorabilia, CM old & new style ,vintage, photos only, steampunk, stamped or anything else.
I only make pages that I love. I do not care who sees them. You should only make pages that you love too what ever that is. I like the gallery here because I see all of the different types.
I am a person who does different types too depending on my mood. Some of mine are very simple. I posted a basketball layout last week that is. Check it out. I have others too.
Be proud of your pages & post them here. There is no one here that will tell you that your pages are too plain. Don't be afraid. The gallery here is not a contest anyway.

I just checked out your gallery. Your layouts are wonderful. I am not saying that to be nice. I wouldn't call them plain.

I love this thread. I have a hard time finding inspiration as well because I like to scrap lots of pictures but I still want it too look beautiful and complete. I struggled to find my own style but am becoming more and more satisfied as I create...gotta be me.

This is a wonderful thread. I too look at all the elaborate lo's and I like them. I look at all the C&S lo's, I love them as well. When I do my lo's, my pictures are the center of attention. I love using embellishments and I love dressing up the page, but my pictures are the main focus. Sometime the embellishments take the focus away.
I agree with Linda, there is no bad lo. I may love my lo and you may hate, and that's ok. We each have our own style. I love browsing through our gallery here and I honestly can say, I have yet to see a bad lo. We are all artists.

I think your work looks great! I don't like to get too elaborate on my pages either, because I like to focus on the pictures! That's what the page is all about anyways. I'm not on my home computer where I can post some of my newer work, but it's on my blog

I like clean and simple. I also like embellished (to a degree). I'm not really keen on those pages that have tons of flowers, frames, birds etc...the "shabby chic", heavily embellished pages. "Each to their own", my mother would say.
I post pics in my gallery to share with friends etc. It makes it easier to come to this website and show family my recent pages....I don't necessarily post pages for everyone else or to compete with others here....
As far as photos on a page...it varies. If I'm scrapping Christmas or my son's birthday party, then I'm going to most likely do a 2 page layout with quite a few pics on it. It would require that to cover the event. It's all about the event.
If I'm doing a layout about my son being a picky eater, then it only has one pic on it and journalling because that tells the story. It's all about the story...
Sometimes you only need one photo to tell the story....depends on the situation.
I agree with pp that people should post in the gallery regardless of style....variety is the spice of life (another of my mother's sayings)
I subscribe to a magazine, "Canadian Scrapbooker" and it has tons of layout ideas in it each month. Not many of them are really plain but a lot of them are what I would call fairly "simple". They are definitely not over-the-top-embellished, anyway and I get a lot of inspiration looking through the mags....

I think my style is somewhere inbetween c&s and elaborate. I love how everyone has their own style and I think everyone should share their layouts to inspire and encourage others.

This is a great thread! Thank you for starting it!!!!
The way I see it - I see people in wonderful fashion outfits with high heels or platforms and every inch of them is salon perfect - like they belong on the cover of a magazine. They look awesome, I admire their hair and makeup.
But it is not me. My husband says he married a jeans and t-shirt girl.
We all have a style and mine is clean and simple. You don't get any cleaner and simpler than mhy travel stuff.
However, when I do holidays and family stuff and things around home, then I play more. I'm still not elaborate and they are still pretty flat pages, but there is more experimenting and they are different.
But I've had people say they can see my stuff in the gallery and know it is mine without seeing my name. Especially all the travel things.
Find your comfort level and if you want to occasionally stick your neck out to see where it takes you - go for it. It doesn't matter.
It is what you like.
I think a lot of people don't put there more clean and simple layouts in the gallery becuase they do feel it is a bit of a competition. But as a previous poster said, it is not! Many of those are posted by very skilled and talented professional designers.
Also, it took me a while to realize that some of the ones I just drooled over are digital. I love digital layouts but I had to accept that my paper and scissors layouts are not going to look like that. THere is no way. There are some paper and scissors scrapbookers who have that much talent but I'm not one of them.
So post away. I would LOVE to see more clean and simple layouts in the gallery that use lots of pictures!

Hmmm....I am not sure I should bring this up, because I don't want to start a war. I don't necessarily agree that designers use more stuff just to sell more product. I think (in some cases, at least) that the particular designer was chosen to be on the DT because of their style. That's the style that company wants to use. So, for EP, it might be that they want artists who master clean and simple. For another company like Graphic 45, they may prefer to use artists who like to go all embellie-happy. So, while it may be the DT member's job to showcase the company's product, I don't necessarily think that it's the reason they use so much of it.
Okay, I'll shut up now.
This is what I was trying to say, but you said it better
I agree. There's nothing wrong with loadsastuff,,,,,,and there's nothing wrong with CAS.
everyone is different. As I've been card making more and more, my style has changed dramatically over the years. I started otu CAS, but then I became more lotsastuff. shrugs,,,,whatever you enjoy!

Another thing to add. Every forum's gallery has its own distinct style. Here the more popular styles are artsy, organic with lots of flowers and techniques. I always found my layout didn't quite fit here. Twopeasinabucket's gallery is much more my style, so I hang out there more. Studio Calico has their own style too.
So if you feel like you're the odd ball here, and are pretty hung up by that fact (I personally don't mind much), maybe you can look around and find a gallery that suits your style more.

I have looked at your gallery and loved what I saw. I do understand what you are saying. Sometimes when I look at the gallery I can absolutely admire the more difficult designs with all sorts of embellies, perfectly organised. I enjoy them and then decide it is not for me. And although I do love looking at those LO's, I will always be attracted by the clean and simple ones. That is more me. So please keep posting your LO's!
