its best to ask at the airport or your departure area. I wouldnt see a problem but I know they have stricted the rules and laws. It also depends where you are going to. For example, Australia is very VERY strict in what you bring into the country because of contamination risks. And I know Holland and the UK isnt as strict on that. I'd hate having to risk this and lose me copics. Anything you cant bring into the country, will get either destroyed or held in custody in the contamination area.
I just took the copic standard certification class from and asked that very question. The instructor said they were perfectly fine to go through security. (as she travels with hers all the time.) When they go through the machines, they come up looking like test tubes on the monitors, and then security realizes what they are, when they check the bags...hope this helps.
