MONTHLY CHALLENGE

If you have any questions, please ask Laurin :)

If you were around last month, you maybe saw my challenges about www.efferdares.com - a great and inspiring website where they call Scrapbooking Challenges "Dares" - I loved the site so much that I ordered the book online "We Dare You: Scrapbook Challenges About Real Life" (Hello 3 Euros used on Amazon!)!

For the monthly this month, I've been really inspired by the themes that they use in the book and I'd like to share them with you guys! So I really have to give credit to the Dares Book for this months monthly challenge!

Your Challenge:

Create LOs based on the following themes. There are 5 Categories below, and within each category are 5 - 6 themes or page ideas.

Read through the list and choose up to 5 pages that you want to create this month - share with us the 5 themes that inspire you the most and post it in the forum. Take 150pts for sharing the 5 LOs you would like to complete.

When you scrap these 5 pages, take a 150pts per layout on top of your regular points from the points list. You can do as many LOs as you want, but you can only collect points on a max of 5 layouts so your max points allowed will be 750pts (5 x 150pts) PLUS the 150pts for sharing your 5 choices - for a GRAND TOTAL OF 900pts ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM.

If you're interested in getting the book (I highly recommend it!) then you can find it here on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/We-Dare-You-Scrapbook -Challenges/...

(I bought it on Amazon.de (German Amazon) and I got a used copy for only 3 Euros! Yay!)

So here are the categories. The book has 6 categories, but I've decided 5 is enough and I wanted to leave something if you got the book, lol!

Note: This Monthly Challenge can only be used with LAYOUTS, but scrap whatever size of layout you feel appropriate. :)

Please let me know if you have any questions (Laurin). Enjoy!

Category One: The Good

1. Where I Grew Up - Pretty self-explanatory, but create a LO about where you grew up, the country, the house, your street, your family, etc etc.

2. Positive Talk - A LO about the good things about yourself and others - give yourself some Love!

3. Accomplishments - Document your accomplishments, whether it's big or small or somewhere in between!

4. Your Safe Place - Your refuge, where you feel safest and happiest.

5. Obsessions - Things you can't live without, things you're over the moon for - things you're totally OBSESSED with!!

6. Favourite People, Places, Things - All the things you love dear and near to your heart.

Category Two: The Bad

1. Hard - Things that you've gone through that are hard, learning experiences, tough situations, major life lessons. Document it.

2. Guilt Pleasures - Things that we love, but shouldn't.

3. Fear(s) - What's your fear? Scrap your biggest fears or your minor fears - whatever you feel.

4. Fights - Arguements, spats, battles you've had to have. You learn and you grow, from these experiences, try scrapping about it.

5. Regrets - Okay, we all try not to have them, but sometimes it happens anyways. Best to embrace them and then let them go. Let your LO be your closure.

6. Make A Mess - Roll up your sleeves, bust out the paints, alcohol inks, and gessoes. Create something out of the ordinary and soulful. Let your inner artist take a run around the room without holding back.

Category Three: The Ugly

1. Imperfect Photo - Pull out the blurry pics, the weird pics, the ones you never thought you'd scrap - and find a creative way to use them anyways. Pics don't have to be perfect to tell a story.

2. Distress - Heavily showcase that distressing - but not just brown inking the edges, try sanding your photos, tea-staining, painting, ripping and tearing - get down and gritty - this isn't about making a pretty LO. Let go and dig in.

3. The Worst Thing - What's that one little thing about yourself that you don't like - something you cringe over - create a page about it; maybe this is your second chance to move past it, to change it, to be who you want to be.

4. Pissed Off - Temper tantrums, things you hate, things that make you angry - every once and a while it's okay to scream and be mad at the world. Get real and be brutally honest. Make a LO about what really boils your blood.

5. Mortified - Eeek. Completely Embarrassing moments - embarrassing photos of your kids that they'll absolutely hate you for in 10 years, that time you ended up locked out of the house in your underwear - if it's embarrassing, it fits in this theme.

Category Four: The Silly, Funny, Wacky!

1. Permission Slip - it's about creating a LO that gives you permission to be you - whether you like ketchup chips mixed with chocolate in a bowl, you like to wear your scuba gear when you swim in the pool - anything that makes you really and truly YOU! This is about funky funny silly you!

2. Shoes - What do your shoes say about you? Maybe you hate feet. Maybe you don't own any shoes without glitter or the colour pink - whatever it is, scrap about it!

3. Little Me - Bust out your childhood pictures - funny haircuts and old school photos - the older the better.

4. One Sentence - Describe yourself in one sentence. Choose wisely because you only get one. Capture yourself in one singular string of words and put it on a LO.

5. Swap - Scrap someone else's pictures - or if you always scrap about your family, scrap about your friends, just try to scrap something different, and swap it up!

6. Date - Create a LO that focuses on a specific date & time as the focal point and title. It could be an important date like a wedding anniversary or a random date like the first time you tried Mexican food - whatever! Just use that date as your focal point and title!

Category Five: The Random

1. Seven Random Facts - your favourite kind of socks, you child's most over-used words, the play he starred in in the 5th grad - create a page of 7 facts - make them random and make them 7.

2. Found Object - Scrapbooking is so much about combining objects, documenting moments - and not all of it should come from a scrap store - use something from your junk drawer, office supplies, tags from clothing, or old ticket stubs and invitations. Scrap that non-scrapbooking stuff.

3. Fierce - One word. What does it mean to you?

4. Things I Do - Random bits about our lives that we want to capture. Things no one else might understand like your husbands bumper stickers or the way you place things on the windowsill in the kitchen.

5. Note - Scrap a note you've written or a note from someone else - these an invaluable and deserve a home in your scrapbook. It could be a note from your child or husband, or a note you wrote yourself one night when you were having a good or bad day. Use it and keep it.

6. Uniform - What do you wear everyday? Clothes so often define who we are. What defines your image? Sweatpants and socks? Never wearing a jacket but always wearing a hat? Explore your image and what it says to you.

LETS GET SCRAPPIN! :D

Challenge Volunteers!

These are the new rules for people who want to volunteer to do a week of challenges.
1.The weekly challenge cannot be worth more than 400 pts.

2.The daily challenges can only be worth 150 pts with one exception per week up to 300 pts. So 6 days of 150 points or less and one challenge up to 300 points.

3.The daily challenges should generally be something that can be incorporated into ANY LO. Not a challenge that you must make a LO for that you wouldn't have made otherwise. But it CAN require you to make a whole LO for one challenge per week.

4.Picture challenges can only be worth up to 250 pts total added up for all pictures. There should not be more than 6 pictures for the weekly photo challenge.

5. You SHOULD post the challenge by 10 AM EST (which is 7AM PST) OR post the challenge the night before, preferably after 9PM your time.

6. Please update the 1st page with your challenges at least one time by the Tuesday of your week, at least once by the Friday of your week, and at least once on Sunday of your week after you post the last daily challenge for your week! So you need to update the 1st page using the AnythingGoesChallenge login (you will be pm'd the login information before your week as hostess) a minimum of 3 times if you host an entire week of challenges. The first time you update, on Monday or Tuesday of your week, please post BOTH your weekly challenges and your daily challenges under the correct post (either the Daily Challenges post of the Weekly Challenges post on the 1st page of the thread).

I'm in! Right now all my scrapbook stuff is in boxes and I have no work space to work on and next week I will be at the beach so depending on when I get my scrap area set up depends on my goal. But I didn't forget about me and Quay challenge! I am slowly working on getting my scrap space in workable order!

OK. I've been in such a rut the last few months with work absolutely killing me. I am determined to get my scrappy mojo back this month. Please sign me up for 10 layouts, AND put me down for a week of challenges!

If you need me to host I would prefer the week of the 11th or 18th. I really CAN NOT do the 1st - 3rd.

players list updated and I decided to pay to play! I stopped checking in when I stopped counting points! So I have a goal of 1 LO, hopefully I can figure a way to get that done this month--with or without a scraproom!

Off to assign challenge hostesses!

Working on the points list too!
