good morning.

thanks for the coffee...I need something to get me going! I stayed up too late watching TV....not that it really makes any difference! I don't sleep very long anyway...which isn't really healthy according to an article I read yesterday. Maybe that's why I just don't have any energy!

Cathe..right now the "babies" are about to wear me out! Greyden was not having a good day yesterday and was very whiny. I'm not sure if he didn't feel very good or if it was because of jealously. It was a nice day so he spent part of the day outside and that was wonderful! Roy was working in the shop so he was keeping an eye on G for us.

a funny story..or at least it was funny from the kitchen window! Background: the new puppy now stands almost shoulder high to Greyden and when G is outside they are almost always together. If you want to locate G from the window, just look for the pup and you'll find G...and vise versa.
the puppy was just outside the shop where he started digging a hole. Greyden came from in the shop and sat down right in the hole the pup was digging. It didn't detour the pup much as he just kept right on digging dirt out from under the boy! When that didn't work for G to get the results he wanted he just laid back onto the pup..used him for a recliner! The puppy quit digging of course and just got ahold of Greyden's coat and pulled him off the hole. Greyden got to his feet and then turned around and went back to the hole. Boaz (the puppy) then took ahold of G's coat and "led" him away. That eventually resulted in Greyden getting knocked down. At that point Kari opened the kitchen window and called Boaz to get him to let go of Greyden's coat. I figured when the window went open we would be able to hear Greyden crying and throwing a fit about being knocked down but instead, when he heard his mother's voice, he just raised his head and looked around to see where it was coming from! He was not crying or fussing or anything!! He did come to the house at that point and he was soaking wet and muddy. His little snowboots had just about as much inside of them as they did on the outside! He had obviously been splashing through the puddles created by the 45 degree temps! As soon as he got warm and his tummy full...he was once again on the porch to get his boots and bring them to his mommy so he could go outside again! His first word when he gets out the door is almost always, 'Boz' (Boaz)? They are just about inseparable!

Tell me what you are going to do with Kale.

I eat it in salads, or cook it like spinach or any other greens......Its good either way. But then I like cooked greens......maybe its a southern thing....you know I am a half-azzzzed southerner when it comes to food. LOL Greens and cornbread is a pretty good mean really.

I must have a little bit of Southern Gal in me too, Betsey, because I love cooked greens! I love asparagus, I love brussel sprouts...I love veggies period...(EXCEPT LIMA BEANS!)

So you eat greens......I love them all, Mustard greens, collard, kale, but have to have corn bread to go with them. LOL

I have seen none of the movies up for the Oscars......I just have trouble going to an actual movie....we have one of those theaters with five theaters in one......they are so tightly packed the aisles, the seats etc...and SO LOUD.........I wish we had an old theater like the ones from days gone by. There was room to sit, stretch, etc...you were not sitting on top of the person in front of you or next to you...and the high ceilings made the sounds wonderful.......but again, I am old. My grandkids don't even know what I am talking about. LOL

Lisa still remembers when I took her to see Sound of Music, she was about 7 or 8........she loved it....and there was nothing like those musicals in the big theaters.....! And they didn't cost a person $20 to go to the movie and have popcorn and a drink either. LOL Not only that....but we got a double feature, with news and cartoons in between. LOL

Jo- What a darling story. It made me chuckle It is wonderful that Greyden has such a loyal dog to love.

Betsey I paid $7.50 yesterday for the show. I didn't buy anything at the concession stand. The prices are outrageous! I think our theater has 16 theaters. I do like them as they were made so I could see over the isle in front of me.

Off to church. catch you all later.

Josie - LOVED the story about Greyden and Boaz. I could almost imagine in my mind what that scene looked like from the window!! I hope you take some pictures of them and journal that story.

Betsey and Cathe - We always go to the very first show of the day at the movie theater and you get a discounted price. During the week it is $4.75 and on the weekends it is $5.50. We did not get any snacks as we were planning to have lunch afterward. You pay more for snacks than for the ticket.

Char - Regarding ex-dil, my son has talked to her but it does no good. He and I have just worked it out where I come and spend time with them when they are at his house on the weekends. My ex and his wife treat my ex-dil like she is still part of the family. They go out to eat with her and have her over to spend the night quite frequently. It was very upsetting at first, but I have gotten over it.

Tish and Di - I don't usually watch the Oscars. I don't even know what movies are up for awards.

Karyol isn't feeling well today and has had a couple of sweats in the past hour, feeling weak and tired so I am staying here with him instead of going to church. I am hoping if they start treating his anemia this will get better.

Cathe, to be honest with you, I have not seen any of the films nominated this year, but I still will watch and love every moment of the glitz and glamour. Love the speeches and of course the gowns and hair styles even at my age!

I have heard that all the movies nominated are excellent. For some strange reason, I would like to see Argo win or Silver Linings Playbook!

I've been going right from one thing t5o another this morning and we are once again getting beautiful heavy wet snow! Gotta love it!

Betsey, yes, I definitely love greens and my green veggies. In fact I just put a soup/stew in my slow cooker and tossed everything but the kitchen sink in the pot! It was kind of a clean out the left over type stew...left over beef roast, carrots, peas, noodles etc., and KALE! It will smell heavenly.

I went to the movies at least once a week growing up, but I never get to go anymore. Maybe because the theaters are 30 - 60 minutes from us. Also the price, so I kind of have to wait for DVD, Netflix etc.

Last night I was scanning through the channels on television and watched a little of Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. Gotta love the old movies!

Cheryl, you mentioned Karol and his anemia which brings to mind my son in law Chip. He has anemia and they are sending him to a specialist in Portland to see what is going on in his body. To look at him, you would never suspect him to be anemic! Jill said he has been having gouty attacks and very tired.

Oh my Jo, you need to scrap a picture of Greyden and Boaz together. I loved the story of Greyden out with Boaz. A boy and his dog!

What a great protector and friend Boaz will be to the boys!

jo.......just copy and print what you wrote to us.....it would be the perfect journaling story just as it is. So warm and loving and yet every detail is perfect...I too, could picture the scene as if he were right here. How adorable.

Speaking of adorable...I am scrapping a wonderful picture of Lilly, which you probably saw on FB....and then one of Ally and Lilly that is just beautiful.....the photo, not the scrapping! lOL

It is raining here, A/C is on, it is up to 79 today, and sooooo humid and icky. A great day to stay inside and just scrap.......Bridge on the Rive Kwai is on TCM right now...almost over.....I loved that movie.......They just don't make movies like this anymore. The blood and guts if they remade this would ruin the subtle plot as it moves through the various time frames......it was such a deep personality study on so many levels yet so entertaining too. I found myself rooting for the Bridge again......LOL

Tish - We go back to the oncologist Friday for follow up regarding the anemia. He has never actually given us a "diagnosis"; however, the kidney doctor told us this week that he had written myelodysplasia syndrome with refractory anemia. I have NOT told my husband what that means. It is a pre-leukemia diagnosis. Apparently, from what I have read there is not a lot they can do other than blood transfusions when necessary. The article I read said that people with this usually live 27-50 months after diagnosis. As you know, it has been almost a year with them trying to figure out what is going on with him. I HOPE that he has better news that what I read but will MAKE him tell us something Friday when we see him. If there is nothing to be done, fine just tell us and let us deal with it. Obviously, I am upset and just want to know what I am facing instead of no one telling me anything.

Betsey - LOVE the new layout of Lily!

CHERYL you know doctors...they will not tell you anything as far as how long you can live with a diagnosis. Really makes me mad. Every person is different they say. Yet it hangs over your head wondering. I certainly wish you and karyol the best and that you get some relief from his pain.

Char - Yes I do know doctors. I also think because I know these doctors and work with them on a daily basis they are reluctant to give me bad news. I CAN handle it and just want to be told. I trust the doctors we are seeing implicity but I WILL get answers one way or another.

BETSEY I was watching "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" yesterday with Hepburn and Portier. Oh what a funny movie when you watch it now. SO politically incorrect. I couldn't get over them saying NEGROES.
