I think about it every day, but I just don't have the time. I have other hobbies and interests, not to mention assorted other time-wasters such as sleep, exercise, grocery shopping, etc. And, in order to scrap I have to pull everything out of it's storage place and put it away again when I'm done - I just don't have the energy to do all this at night after work. Ultimately, I try to scrap once a week although sometimes it happens only once a month. Sometimes I have spurts of higher productivity.
LOL @ GELIDY- I was about to type 'spurts' then...no.
I do kinda work that way, tho- but I try to make something at least every other day, even if it's just a quick and very easy card. Sometimes that'll motivate or inspire me to do something else and I'll keep going.
THEN- there are my crazy output phases. I'm in one right now. I'm doing something every day. Being around or talking to creative people sparks it- or taking a class. I took one of Dina Wakely's class on Saturday. By that time, I was about 1/2way through a 'crazy output' phase. And the class was so perfect- crazily creative and inspiring, that I'm running on full. Everything gives me an idea for something to make...
I think about it pretty much most of the time. Whether it's organizing, filing, journaling, researching, printing, etc...it's pretty much never far from my mind.
If I had to break it down into quarters or a percentage, I would say...Maybe 4 - 6 times a week, I'm doing something. While mainly scrapping on the weekends (every other weekend or so). And of 365 days of the year, I mainly scrap the most during the spring & onto the end of summer. During the fall/Christmas & winter seasons, I usually take a break & work on recipe cards, swaps, holiday gifts & baking.
Total spurts....will go for 2-3 days doing 2-3 layouts and then will not have the time for a few weeks. I was just thinking tonight that I cannot wait until Fall when the girls are back to school and I will have a few days each week to devote a few hours in the mornings to scrapping. I also like to scrap at night and my husband travels almost every week so if I have mojo, I will scrap late into the night, but again in falls in spurts.
I used to work in spurts...would do something every day for awhile and then go a month or more without doing anything...
I'm trying to do more now. I would say that I do "something" every day....organizing photos, perusing the internet or magazines for ideas, shopping, reading blogs, taking photos or actually doing layouts. If I don't have an idea for a layout, I usually work on my project life. That has been great at keeping me motivated and helped me creatively.
I think about it all the time.
Thinking about What i could be creating instead of working, but that supports my "habit", so have to do it.
All I have on phone bookmarks, iPad, everything is about crafts, mostly scrapbooking. Its like an obsession. My stuff is really boring to everyone else.
Newbie here...longtime reader, but didn't post often!
I have to say I go in spurts...I've been in grad school the past 2 years so I fell out of it when I started school. I got to talking about it one day with a colleague and it made me really miss it...so I've finished about 8 pages in the last month! I always thought about it though, never lost my passion just didn't have time! Plus my space is limited so I have to drag stuff out and it can get pretty messy...hopefully once school's finished I'll be able to create my own scrapbook room!
wow...glad im not the only one! i feel like ive got out of my scrapping mojo..but I still love reading on here, and looking through magazines, and i think about it occasionally. but just dont never have the ... "urge" to pull out my scrapping supplies... Im starting to get back into it. But thanks for all the replys!! Its glad to know im not the only one that takes a break.
I think about scrapping all of the time, but hardly ever get to do it any more. I own 3 business on etsy, so I'm constantly making stuff for other people, but seem to have no time to scrap for my family any more.
It depends if I have my "mojo"... if I do, I could scrap all day!
I try to do a bit every so often...even if it is just printing up photos, or going thru my papers...or getting ideas from the gallery here at sb.com..or my magazine....
I do my best scrapping with my sister, dollscrap. We try to get together about every 4 to 6 weeks for a weekend of scrapping and scrap shopping! She gives me ideas and motivation that I need! In fact, I'm going down to her house in about 3 weeks...I should be able to complete several layouts then.
Very, I breath, sleep, dream and eat this hobby. I love it. I'd either craft or write. Im happy I have a hobby that I love and enjoy. The kids love it too. Over the past couple weeks I have been working on a project in stages.
