I have the original Sizzix, but hated it from the get-go. It annoyed me that any die you bought was only ONE SIZE. So when the Cricut came out I HAD to have it and do really love it. Here's the dilemma:

I am loving all these new BIG Tim Holtz die options (and have started to fall in love with Big Red again) but they don't fit Big Red. Just a smidge too wide. I've been eyeing a Big Shot and I wondered if there were any dies that specifically DON'T work with the Sizzix Big Shot? If I'm going to buy a machine I want it be the LAST one. (Except for moving up to the new Cricut , of course!)

And also - what do you suggest I do with Big Red? ARE there any buyers out there or should I just donate it? Hmmmmm....

The only dies currently on the market that don't fit in the Big Shot are the very widest ones in some sets of the Grand Nesties, and some of the Sizzix Bigz Pro dies (which were made for the Big Shot Pro which is 12" wide) - although really, if you have a Cricut you can probably cut almost any of these larger shapes very easily. And probably some AccuQuilt dies but you're probably not needing to cut fabric And now that the Craftwell eBosser has been released I understand they have some wider embossing folders.

The only machine I know of that can do absolutely everything right now is the Big Shot Pro, but it has a hefty price tag. Also the AccuCut has 12" wide cutting, but I don't know if it can do the fat Sizzix dies or not, I'm not very familiar with them; these are also more expensive, of course. All other machines I've seen have some limitation or other.

I'm not very interested in the Grand Nesties, so I have a Big Shot, tons of dies from almost every company you can think of, and I adore it

Big Red is also great for flattening bottle caps.

Hmmmm....I may have to keep Big Red after all. In Girl Scouts we do a lot with bottle cap crafts!

I love my big shot!!! I also have a cricut. But I tend to use my big shot more than my cricut. It is just easier. Also, I love embossing. AC Moores is carrying a line of 5X7 embossing folders!!! They fit in the big shot! I LOVE these!!! You can emboss photo mats with these very easily!!!
