On Friday she started running 103 temp, and was sick all weekend. She also had a bad dizzy spell last night & I took her pulse and it was 32, but thankfully came up quickly. She had recently told me that she has been having the dizzy spells quite often, but thought they were nothing, so didn't mention how often or how bad they are getting. So when I took her to the doc today they did a flu test on her that came out positive, and they did an EKG on her, which came out abnormal. She is being referred to a cardiologist. She has had lung issues since she was 6 months old, but as she has gotten older they have gotten better, and has all but stopped. Now this is going on. My prayer is that they say the abnormal EKG was caused by her being sick, and that there are no heart issues. At the moment I'm so worried about her that I don't even want to let her out of my sight

Prayers for you and for her. I know how scary it is when something is medically wrong with your child and the doctors aren't even sure what it is. Hope they figure it out soon and there is an easy "fix" for it.

Thanks everyone, she is 13 and wanting to go on a mission trip this summer, so we are praying she can still do that as well, if anything is actually wrong, no way on Earth am I letting her go to another country, even if they would still allow her, which is doubtful.

Praying for her. I hope she gets better soon. I send postcards of my city to people around the world. Would she like one?

I don't pray, but wish her a speedy recovery and hope the abnormal EKG was just fever related.

The 16th of January? That is an awfully long time to wait. When it comes to health issues, especially in children, I don't like having to wait so long. Why will they not tell you anything sooner?
Prayers continue.

I wasn't amused that it will be so long, but we don't have many pedantic cardiologists in our area, so that was the closest appointment available with being so near the holidays. Good thing though is a good part of that she will be with us, so I can keep a closer eye on her.

We are all fighting not to get it. My Mom lives with us and has lung cancer, and it’s always a week long hospital visit when she gets ill, so we are all taking of lots of vitamin C and Ecunasia (I probably just butchered that spelling,) It is a natural herb that helps your immune system. So far my older daughter and I haven't got it, but my hubby and mom have both been coughing, so we hope that is just from all of the lovely TX weather changes.

Hope your family is all better Holly.

Merry Christmas all!!

To all of those who were praying for Britt on today's doc visit, IT WORKED!!!! The cardiologist said that the doc here didn't know what he was doing on reading an EKG and her heart is perfectly fine, she just needs to stay hydrated to combat the dizzy spells

Awesome news, Amanda! Tell your daughter to drink! Drink! Drink! If she waits until she is "thirsty", she will already be dehydrated!

Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes. Her new mandatory diet seems to be going great (even if it is anoying her to have to eat and drink weither she likes it or not) No more dizzy spells since then Thanks again for all of the prayers!

That's good news. What diet has she been prescribed? How much liquid?

She has to have 64oz of liquid min, no caffeine (which is what is ticking her off the most since she loves coffee drinks)and she has to eat all 3 main meals, and 2 snacks, one of which has to be salty. I sent her a jar of peanut butter and a bag of bananna chips to school, so even if she hates what they are serving for lunch she will still be eating something, and she can have it as a quick snack during the day (she has a note from the doc that allows her to eat and drink during the day). For a quick breakfast we made pig in a blankets (little smokies in a cressent roll) and she has milk with it.

Sounds pretty good! I know not having caffeine is the pits for someone who is used to having it. But, unfortunately, caffeine will drain her of the liquids/minerals she needs. Maybe, she can find decaf coffees that she likes.
Flavored waters and juices are a great way to get fluids.
I have only been severely dehydrated once when I was in 4th grade. I never will forget that. I was so bad I was hallucinating. I try to not let it happen again.
Hope your daughter can adjust to her new diet soon. It's actually adopting a new lifestyle. Best wishes and prayers for her.

That sounds like a normal healthy diet to me. What was she having before?

She was skipping meals if she didn't like what the school served, and drinking nothing during the day besides a small thing of milk, all of which I found out at the Doc's office It never occured to me that just because I was paying for her lunch and breakfast everyday at school that she would take the drink and pass out the rest of the food to students who didn't have the money to eat, or who liked what they were having. She eats ok at home, but for the most part for dinner she has no choice unless she wants to cook that night (she loves cooking.)That was why we made stuff for her to bring from home for breakfast and why she has the pb and bannana chips that way I know for sure she is eating something during the day. I also sent her a reusable water bottle to school and the doc wrote her a note letting the teachers know she would need to be allowed to go to the restroom (which was why she wasn't drinking much, she never had time between class to go to the restroom without being late, or missing her lunch time)
