the flu has been nasty this year and has made the rounds in our house TWICE within the past few weeks.

We are all fighting not to get it. My Mom lives with us and has lung cancer, and it’s always a week long hospital visit when she gets ill, so we are all taking of lots of vitamin C and Ecunasia (I probably just butchered that spelling,) It is a natural herb that helps your immune system. So far my older daughter and I haven't got it, but my hubby and mom have both been coughing, so we hope that is just from all of the lovely TX weather changes.

Hope your family is all better Holly.

Merry Christmas all!!

To all of those who were praying for Britt on today's doc visit, IT WORKED!!!! The cardiologist said that the doc here didn't know what he was doing on reading an EKG and her heart is perfectly fine, she just needs to stay hydrated to combat the dizzy spells

Awesome news, Amanda! Tell your daughter to drink! Drink! Drink! If she waits until she is "thirsty", she will already be dehydrated!

Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes. Her new mandatory diet seems to be going great (even if it is anoying her to have to eat and drink weither she likes it or not) No more dizzy spells since then Thanks again for all of the prayers!

That's good news. What diet has she been prescribed? How much liquid?

She has to have 64oz of liquid min, no caffeine (which is what is ticking her off the most since she loves coffee drinks)and she has to eat all 3 main meals, and 2 snacks, one of which has to be salty. I sent her a jar of peanut butter and a bag of bananna chips to school, so even if she hates what they are serving for lunch she will still be eating something, and she can have it as a quick snack during the day (she has a note from the doc that allows her to eat and drink during the day). For a quick breakfast we made pig in a blankets (little smokies in a cressent roll) and she has milk with it.

Sounds pretty good! I know not having caffeine is the pits for someone who is used to having it. But, unfortunately, caffeine will drain her of the liquids/minerals she needs. Maybe, she can find decaf coffees that she likes.
Flavored waters and juices are a great way to get fluids.
I have only been severely dehydrated once when I was in 4th grade. I never will forget that. I was so bad I was hallucinating. I try to not let it happen again.
Hope your daughter can adjust to her new diet soon. It's actually adopting a new lifestyle. Best wishes and prayers for her.

That sounds like a normal healthy diet to me. What was she having before?

She was skipping meals if she didn't like what the school served, and drinking nothing during the day besides a small thing of milk, all of which I found out at the Doc's office It never occured to me that just because I was paying for her lunch and breakfast everyday at school that she would take the drink and pass out the rest of the food to students who didn't have the money to eat, or who liked what they were having. She eats ok at home, but for the most part for dinner she has no choice unless she wants to cook that night (she loves cooking.)That was why we made stuff for her to bring from home for breakfast and why she has the pb and bannana chips that way I know for sure she is eating something during the day. I also sent her a reusable water bottle to school and the doc wrote her a note letting the teachers know she would need to be allowed to go to the restroom (which was why she wasn't drinking much, she never had time between class to go to the restroom without being late, or missing her lunch time)
